1. I knew lots of carols as I was not dubbed up until I was 18
2. I used to sing them too just to wind my mother up and to give the "you shouldn't do thaaaat" brigade something to talk about. :-)

besides giving up our time and assets,is there anything that you particularly felt that you truly "gave up" to become or remain a witness?
I gave up the chance to go on with my education as an engineer to degree level thanks to the "what do you want to do that fooooor, armageddon will be here soon" brigade. I gave up the love of a gentle sweet woman to keep my witness family happy. I gave up having a 'life' and freedom to live it the way I wanted in order to follow the dictates of some old farts in Brooklyn and their local stooges. I guess I am pretty pissed off about it :)
The End might happen for some with the coming of the next Ice Age (maybe). If not, we will just have to wait another 4 billion years or so for the Sun to turn into a red giant and swallow the Earth. As for the 'End' according to the Watchtower, nah :o)
at my hall, in the spring and summer, it would almost always be so stuffy in there that i couldn't breathe!
i swear the mugginess in there was stifling!
i don't know how many times i was there and couldn't take it anymore and left.....as soon as i'd open the door and go outside it was like a cold front just came through!
The Elder who took our Book Study would insist on the brother reading wearing a suit jacket, even in the middle of summer! I used to make sure I always left my jacket at home just so I wouldn't be reduced to a pool of sweat if I was asked to read. After a day sweating my nads off at work the last thing I wanted was to spend my evening doing the same.
out in feild service many years ago a freind of mine was at the .
door with a middle aged mentally challanged guy from the hall,.
it was his turn to give a presentation and being challenged he.
I was on a return visit once with a friend of mine and the call was talking about a story in the bible where some people had been destroyed by god for commiting 'four-carnation'. I looked across to my friend who had his head down biting his lip and fighting back the tears of laughter. He then looked over to me and it was all I could do to stop myself from joining him. The guy went on to talk about four-carnation several times after that. We got back to my car and spent the next 10 minutes in hysterics.
now come on you good people whom love football, my team are looking good enough to take the title, eh?.

englishman.
The Canaries will be on top by April!!! :)
as a youngster raised in the "truth", i had my questions.
but anytime you ask a question that is unanswerable, you are told to just wait on jehovah.
as time passes, i believe that we store up a number of unanswerable questions that forces one to eventually think about everything.
About 6 months after I was dunked I started my first real job and the engineers I was working with asked me a few questions about the truth that I didn't have the answers to and which made me start to question. Shame it took me another 14 wasted years to get out.
anyone read the book ??.

this book is an honest and thought provoking examination of the watchtower society, its teachings, and its membership; a must-read for anyone who is in contact with jehovahs witnesses.
I am in the UK and order from amazon.com and .co.uk depending on which site does the better deal. So I'd guess you can order from the UK site no probs.
growing up a jw kid, there were things that, if not for the helpful instruction .
i received from the brothers, i would have never known were sexual in nature.
some examples:.
Guilt is a powerful weapon and the JW's have mastered it's use. My skin used to crawl at some of the comments made at meetings, assemblies or even in conversation. They just love making rules and imposing them on the sheep. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the thought sends a shiver down my spine when I recall how it was.
in the uk there has been a big trial going on in which the former butler to diana princess of wales was charged with stealing some of her possessions after her death.
he has pleaded not guilty from the start.
this has been going on for close to 2 years, the case dramatically collapsed this morning when the queen finally decided to get off the royal butt and intervene saying that she knew he was holding some of diana's possessions.
1.5 million and I wonder how much of that will be charged to a certain Chief Inspector who was probably trying to give her career a little 'boost'? :)
