  Have You Ever Served as an Attendant? Share Your Stories!

  i remember being a jw lad (about 10 or 11 years old).

  i would be at the circuit assembly and, at around 10:45 am, about 8 brothers would get up, walk slowly up the aisle, glancing at each row of their "section", their lips quivering as they silently count each person, trying to maintain focus as nearly each jw makes eye contact them (even though everyone knew what the attendants were doing!

  did i want to grow up to be the president of the united states?

  I was asked to work as an attendant on security a few times. There were some real sad muppets who thought they were Dirty Harry or someone similar always volunteering for that job. I remember one year at the DC a couple of young brothers who were working the night shift got bollocked for having a toy gun, one of their 'mates' dropped them in it.

  I was once told people were scared of me because I looked 'fierce'. I guess I just couldn't disguise how bored and pissed off I was? :)

  I particularly miss listening to the latest prodigy, groomed for stardom, elder bible study, uber-witness talking about their 'experiences' on the platform as the super-spiritual clique gaze adoringly at them.

  there are sites that have literally (ha ha) thousands of books.

  I have collected of thousands ebooks over the years, both fiction and non-fiction. They are great to read on my old craptop computer (powerbook 520) as it has a greyscale display which is really easy on the eyes. I must admit, I am still just as addicted to real books, in fact if I read a good ebook I will invariably buy the paper version.

  I recently spent a fortnight reading the Ender series by Orson Scott Card, they were a very good read. Dune by Frank Herbert is a book I have read at least seven or eight times. Lord of the Rings is another book that deserves to be read more than once. The Red Dwarf books are great if you want a real laugh.

  i have done load of washing, cleaning, getting school uniform ready - (and all that goes with that) this sunday morning.

  what a chunck out of your day attending the kh was!

  i remember being so tired after sunday activities: make sandwiches for fs, get kids ready, get to kh.

  Nothing better than waking up Sunday morning, wandering down the newsagents for the Sunday paper and spending some time relaxing. It's what Sundays were invented for. NOT for sitting in the Kingdumb on an uncomfortable chair listening to some plonker running on and on with the same old skcollob we've heard several thousand times before! :-)
