  only a southerner knows the difference between a 'hissie fit' and a 'conniption', and that you don't "have" them, you "pitch" them.

  only a southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc.

  make up a 'mess'.

  How about The Emporer's New Clothes and JW's?

  is that the one where there won't be any clothes in the new order? Maybe not, their pics show clothes, in fact the skirts are down to the ankles and the necklines are up to their chins. Or is it that the old guys in bethel don't wear any? Definately a pic I wouldn't want to see eeewwwwww.

  well, as i stated in my other thread, i found one of my jw best friends i hadn't spoken to in about 10yrs.

  we talked on the phone a couple days ago.

  i had mentioned briefly where i worked and in what city.

  My mother, the elder...(No, I'm not kidding)

  one of the more unusual secrets in my family is the fact that for years my mother has written every talk my grandfather -- an elder, the service overseer -- has given from the platform.

  a little background: my grandfather was appointed ever since the elder arrangement was put in place in the early 70's.

  he's originally from poland and his english is decent, but not great.

  anyway, the po asked if they could meet with me and i said no.

  I was on the phone with Paula when they called her to tell her they reached their decision. She was on her cell phone with me. I knew it was them when I heard her say " well that didn't take you long!" She remained very kind to them for the reason that one of them had been a member of her ex's family through marraige and she wouldn't have done anything to hurt him. She knew this was breaking his heart, he had always been as supportive as he could. They offered her the chance to send an appeal and to help her spiritually, but she let them know she didn't need it.

  you see, i never did dissassociate myself and was never disfellowshipped.

  i never had the "officialness" of it all.

  Your right. In fact, I told him that what the Bible said about "disfellowshipping" -- which is a made up word I might add -- is open to interpretation. He asked what other interpretations I had read. "Well, Ray Franz has a chapter dealing with the 'Use and Misuse of Disfellowshipping.'" He completely ignored this statement and went on again how we each need to decide for ourselves what we believe and that the organization follows the Bible. Methinks he didn't want to talk about Ray.

  I was thinking the same thing about interpretation, and misuse. They like to argue that the Bible does not say purgatory anywhere. They feel it wrong for others to interpret, yet it is okay for them to do so. Sure they say everyone has to decide for themselves, but if you aren't in agreement with what they tell you, even when they are proven wrong you are treated as if you don't exist.
