Hi AnnOMaly, thanks for that information. I don't think we can say definitively what Jackson meant because he didn't explain himself, but I take the point that he could have been referring the sisters somehow wearing their bibles out more quickly - not that I think this would justify his "sister proof" gag on an occasion such as this.
I've made a few edits to my latest article to reflect a bit more uncertainty as to what he meant and tone it down a little. I do appreciate your feedback.

I'm sorry you think I ranted, but I maintain that an Annual Meeting is no place for sexist sentiment, and the fact these tacky comments were made by a member of the supposed "faithful slave," whatever their exact meaning, speaks volumes. Of course, we are all entitled to reach our own conclusions as I hopefully made clear in my article. It should also be noted that even follow Governing Body members picked up Jackson on what he said, with both Anthony Morris and David Splane alluding to him "getting in trouble" - so it's not just my imagination.

I can confirm that the term "bum witness" was never used. The word "bum" was only used harmlessly in an Anthony Morris illustration.

I stand by my interpretation of the "sister proof" comment, but of course we can all have our opinion - especially since Jackson didn't explain his remark. I'm sure he would like people to think he was referring to sisters being a large army, but I find that a bit of a stretch.

i'm at the convention now (by parental force) and i just heard in the saturday talk "truth brings not peace, but a sword" about how it's a terrible "torture stake" that witnesses are disinherited by their worldly families when they choose to join the jehovah's witness religion and how awful and painful that is for a person to endure.
switch the situation around and you'll find it is exactly what happens to those who choose to leave the organization, but only then is it okay because "disfellowshipped people need to be disciplined"?
this is absolutely ridiculous.
