WTC Charity: A Blown Opportunity by WTS
by Room 215 inapart from the noble imperatives of christian charity, the society's rather tepid response to the need for emergency assistance in the aftermath of the wtc tragedy across the harbor illustrates how calcified the thinking of their leadsership has become.. i know, they've accepted a few overnight jw guests and accommodated some others, but when measured against the magnitude of their resources, these meager photo-op and pr-op gestures are tiny.. by failing to sieze the moment, they blew a priceless opportunity to cut a a firebreak across what they must know will be a maelstrom of publice outrage and criticism when the dateline story runs.

Why did people Jump?
by bboyneko inthis was posted on msnbc.com under an article explaining why people jumped off the twin towers.. years ago, frederick says, a colleague of his set up an experiment where he subjected laboratory animals to excruciating pain.
they could go into another chamber to escape the pain, but if they did they would get their heads chopped off.
other lab animals were allowed to observe this, so they knew what would happen.

Aren't we glad that the org, oops, Jehovah has decided now that PERHAPS he will resurrect those who kill themselves. Jehovah is learning political correctness the last few years, haven't you noticed? Yes, Jehovah has blessed us lucky enough to have read our latest WTs and now understand that we are allowed to kill ourselves but only if we are mentally unstable. Pity for those poor people who did so years ago when Jehovah would NOT resurrect them. </sarcasm>

I bet old Barber jumped for joy when he saw the planes slam into the WTC.
I wish this could be conveyed to the media. Or at least to the local media. Imagine the backlash from the people in that area if they knew the sickness of those wackos who live TAX-FREE in their city? Maybe the city would/could kick 'em out. That would be awesome!

Are the people in New York who have picked up shopping carts and are walking food and supplies to those in the area who cannot walk, the sick and elderly. And those working in the clean-up. And those who are helping those who are working in the clean up. Those who are putting people in their homes because those people cannot return to their homes in lower Manhatten.
Is 'God's true organization' over there doing that? We all know the answer to that.

O don't start NY1. You know that it's business as usual at 'gods house'. They're probably pissed that people stopped working to watch the towers Tues.
Here's a perfect example of the 'love' Bethel would show ...

First I was shocked that they even had a "PR" tape about this, and that it made no attempt to preach in it. Truely looked produced for non-JWs to make them look good.
Yet it was such a piss-poor production, and so lame I couldn't beleive it.
You said it. They could have been out in the street, feeding/housing hundreds. How about all those stranded in the area? All it would have taken would be a call to a local news agency to say "We have 300 beds here" or "We can feed 300 today" or whatever.
And what do we get? Oooo, they put up a few dozen or so JWs who happened to STOP THERE. I doubt they even sought out those. And now they want to make like they were SO charitable?

The JWs are SO ingrained to think first of themselves. This is really making me sick. Think back to all those talks from conventions, about this or that tradgedy, and it's all about "No brothers/sis hurt", or they make a big deal about "2 of our local bros were killed" "so sad". NO thoughts or mention of the many others. Doesn't matter about the others, those were going to be burned up by flaming fireballs soon anyway. Or fall into a giant crack in the ground.
Think Jehovah will hi-jack planes and use them as bombs in the big "A"? Of course he'd have to magically transport those poor JWs off the planes first.

It hadn't really impacted me - we always talk about how bloodthirsty the JWs are, but until this happened, I see the massive destruction/loss of life just in one limited area, and the JWs expect/want this scene replayed WORLDWIDE!!
I almost think that those pictures (like above) from so many of the orgs books/mags may be more of a wake-up call then the blood or pedophile issue? The only sad thing is this almost even makes those issues pale in comparison, when they shouldn't. Hopefully the full impact of that Dateline show (if it happens now) wouldn't be reduced.

PLEASE take some time to think seriously about what this religion is doing to your mental stability! I have had family go thru the same experience as you, and she too had thoughts of suicide. She still suffers to this day with emotional/mental problems from her young adulthood.
Whatever your 'sin' with this boy was, do you REALLY think god, a loving god, would want 'his people' to cause you SO much pain? Do you REALLY think that the terrible things you have been put through 'helped' your spirituality? Or did it do the opposite? How would Jesus have treated you had he been there? Would he shun you for a year 'until you learned your lesson'? Or would he have said 'Your sins are forgiven'.
You have had a taste of what JW friendship is all about. Trust me it doesn't get better. Not only that, but now that you have been DF'ed you will maybe never be treated the same again, but always be viewed as 'weak'. You have tasted the injustice of elders familiy being treated differently - trust me that is NOT an isolated case, but is in fact the rule in almost all congs. Many, many of us here have been abused in the same manner. Would god approve of such hypocrocy? No.
Please think carefully about things. You say you have developed true friends while out. Will they shun you now just because you're reinstated? I doubt it. Will they shun you if you make a mistake in your life? I doubt it. Will your new again JW 'freinds' do so? You bet. As soon as the elders say 'she's bad'. Once again you will not exist to them.
Life outside the JW org is not as bad as you have been raised to beleive. Yes, there is a strong emotional turmoil that most of us have undergone as we begin to realize that our entire childhood we have been lied to, duped, mislead. But you can work thru that and develope YOUR OWN veiwpoints on life, the world around you, religion, and more. No need to consult the local elders to determine if your dress is too short, or if you can take Alceton Positronic Liver pills or whatever. And the freinds you begin to make will be made because YOU choose them, not because they are 'good witnesses' who got their 10 hours in last month.
Good luck, please stay with us. Many of us have gone thru EXACTLY what you are going thru now.
