  NFL Playoffs: Week-By-Week Predictions

  so, here are my first round playoff predictions (as if any of you care...lol!

  colts 23, jets 15 (the jets had their super bowl vs. the packers).

  packers 21, falcons 17 (i have a hunch that atlanta may pull the upset but you can't root against the pack at lambeau).

  NameWithheld originally had both picks correct but then changed his mind and picked the Eagles to win.

  <kicks self> Drat - should have listened to my original thoughts - but everyone (TV, papers, etc) hyped the Eagles so much I fell for it. Of course, I never would have thought that the Bucs could show half as much offense as they have the past 2 weeks. Should be a good SuperBowl.

  Tampa wins the Superbowl I think - unless they can't pressure Gannon, if he has time in the pocket he will kill Tampa.

  i am not a witness but id like to know why the religion is so anti-military service and doesn't even do something so simple as to salute the american flag.

  Well, you should realize that you are asking a group here that is comprised mostly of former JWs. But since we were all deep into it - the short answer is that they follow very literally the words of Jesus to "be no part of the world", applying that to mean "no part of governments". Of course, they fail to realize that to truly be "no part of the world" as they are trying to interpret those words, would require moving to Mars or something. They are also all too happy to suck at the teat of the government and it's benefits, but will do no more than pay taxes. No 'getting involved' in as much as voting, working w/ legislation, etc.

  Well, I can't edit my previous post - so I'll add here.

  Pondering this Bucs/Eagles matchup a bit more, I'm going to change my pick - I think that the Eagles will do it to the Bucs one more time at the vet. A going away present for the Vet Either way it should be a great game. I think we might see some tackling in this game

  Why I'm Here...

  i've read with them all with interest and sympathy, and felt that if i am going to stick around and be a productive member, i should probably tell my own.

  i know i am not the only non-jw on this site, and i wanted to offer the perspective of a 'never-was' as to why i am here and participating in the discussions.

  Welcome - you are in one of the most enviable positions - an informed non-JW - never-been-a-JW!

  Using the info from this board, and sites like freemind.com (links below) you will blast that zealous JW co-worker out of the water, and stop any chance he/she might have to spread their poison to your workplace. The downside (not sure if it is one) is that your JW co-worker will become afraid of you and avoid being around you

  why does the watchtower have to print so many different magazines every two weeks?

  the truth is out since over 2000 years, and the truth didn't change since the time of jesus.

  It's simple ...

  Let's see, 4 mags per month. Let's say the pubs get an average of 4 copies of each mag for FS work. Then let's assume 100 pubs per congo. So that's 400 copies of each mag per month * 4 mags per month = 1600 mags per month for ONE congo. Average .25 per mag donation. That's $400 per congo per month. Lot's of assumptions in the above, but the math is easy to do.

  Chakka: yes you'd think so but they cannot charge for TV spots can they? If (when) they figure out how to make a JW only TV channel financialy viable (read profitable) they would do so in a heartbeat.

  but nobody is profiting from the profits! so whats the difference?

  Pardon my French, but that's total bulls*it. All the top dogs are 'profiting'. We all know how 'Brother Bethel' is treated when traveling, and that goes double for 'Brother Governing Body'. They have an e ntourage floowing them treating them like gods, the green handshakes, the 5 star hotels and first class travel. They may not have fancy cars and such (although some of them DO), but they have their own old man's retreat in Patterson now. But mainly they enjoy daily affirmations from hundreds of people that they are the greatest, most powerful, most 'godly' people on the planet. How that translates to 'not profiting' I don't know!

  Watchtower publications and Copyright Law

  in the past, i have told my friends that if i were not in the industry in which i am employed today, i would have been an attorney.

  to me, law has always been an intriguing area to be involved in.

  not only does researching information that pertains to personal matters teach you the basics on how to conduct yourself in court and the due process of what is involved, you also learn many various laws that may have been totally foreign to you beforehand.. many times on this site and on other personal websites across the globe, religious entities, or publishing corporations, have been a deciding factor in what is and what is not posted, copied, and presented.

  That is the true question in all of this. Since the WT pulications are supposed to be 'without charge' on a donation arrangement, why would a non-profit org care if their works were copied and redistributed. After all, aren't they trying to spread their 'message' to as many people as possible?

  Of course we all know why they don't want (especially certain works) their stuff republished. Too easy for those evil apostates to get ahold of, and most of all, there would be no pressure at all to donate to the 'worldwide preaching work'. If they truely did not care about the 'profits' they would not mind their works being copied.

  edit: think of the savings - in a single congo, Bro Joe Computer could copy the WT CD for his buds, thus making the WT only have to produce one CD instead of, say, 35 or so. It would save them lot's of $$ - of course, then all of Joe's buds would not drop their 'suggested' $50 in the box. <slaps wrist> Bad Brother Joe Computer!

  FWIW, I don't recall Jesus ever disfellowshipping anyone.
