  It hadn't really impacted me - we always talk about how bloodthirsty the JWs are, but until this happened, I see the massive destruction/loss of life just in one limited area, and the JWs expect/want this scene replayed WORLDWIDE!!

  I almost think that those pictures (like above) from so many of the orgs books/mags may be more of a wake-up call then the blood or pedophile issue? The only sad thing is this almost even makes those issues pale in comparison, when they shouldn't. Hopefully the full impact of that Dateline show (if it happens now) wouldn't be reduced.

  i just got reinstated about 3 months ago and i am still trying to adjust.

  i got baptized right before i turned 16, got disfellowshipped not even a year later.

  then another year later i get reinstated.

  PLEASE take some time to think seriously about what this religion is doing to your mental stability! I have had family go thru the same experience as you, and she too had thoughts of suicide. She still suffers to this day with emotional/mental problems from her young adulthood.

  Whatever your 'sin' with this boy was, do you REALLY think god, a loving god, would want 'his people' to cause you SO much pain? Do you REALLY think that the terrible things you have been put through 'helped' your spirituality? Or did it do the opposite? How would Jesus have treated you had he been there? Would he shun you for a year 'until you learned your lesson'? Or would he have said 'Your sins are forgiven'.

  You have had a taste of what JW friendship is all about. Trust me it doesn't get better. Not only that, but now that you have been DF'ed you will maybe never be treated the same again, but always be viewed as 'weak'. You have tasted the injustice of elders familiy being treated differently - trust me that is NOT an isolated case, but is in fact the rule in almost all congs. Many, many of us here have been abused in the same manner. Would god approve of such hypocrocy? No.

  Please think carefully about things. You say you have developed true friends while out. Will they shun you now just because you're reinstated? I doubt it. Will they shun you if you make a mistake in your life? I doubt it. Will your new again JW 'freinds' do so? You bet. As soon as the elders say 'she's bad'. Once again you will not exist to them.

  Life outside the JW org is not as bad as you have been raised to beleive. Yes, there is a strong emotional turmoil that most of us have undergone as we begin to realize that our entire childhood we have been lied to, duped, mislead. But you can work thru that and develope YOUR OWN veiwpoints on life, the world around you, religion, and more. No need to consult the local elders to determine if your dress is too short, or if you can take Alceton Positronic Liver pills or whatever. And the freinds you begin to make will be made because YOU choose them, not because they are 'good witnesses' who got their 10 hours in last month.

  Good luck, please stay with us. Many of us have gone thru EXACTLY what you are going thru now.

  for far too many years we americans have paid our taxes and gone about our peaceful lives believing we lived in the best and safest country in the world.. september 11, 2001 claimed the title of the day that will live in infamy.

  the attack on pearl harbor must now relinquish that title, as tuesday's attack was undeniably worse than that military attack on a naval base.

  millions of people watched in horror as the second plane crashed into the world trade center tower on live television and thousands of innocent civilians-americans-died before a worldwide audience.. terrorist hijackers, some receiving their pilot training in america.

  Racism? How about nationalism? How to seperate the two in this country of so many races?

  You have to admit, it stirs the blood to realize that we have been bending over backwards to help other countries (I don't pretend the U.S. is SO innocent, but they do send aid to others in many cases), giving very fairly free access to this country, and subsidizing foriegn education. When our own are denied the same. Where do you draw the line?

  These people are so predictable. More 'gems' from WOL ...

  I guess we all can't help thinking, being all diligent Bible students, 'What does this mean?' Of course we as mere humans do not know. But since we are always awake to the signs of the times and on the watch it is only natural for us to wonder what any outstanding world event MIGHT signify. We cannot speculate or say that our own ideas are right but it is good for all of us to realize the seriousness of world events and their place in the fulfullment of Bible prophecy. It's hard not to feel that today's gigantically horrible events signify SOMETHING in the outworking of Jehovah's purposes. What happened today was HUGE, the news reporters and others are saying it is bigger than Pearl Harbor in it's world and historical impact. So we have to lean on Jehovah and his organization for guidance. We should NOT try to run ahead of Jehovah in our guessings as to what this means but we are AWAKE that it probably means SOMETHING and we eagerly await Jehovah's clarification through His earthly channel the faithful and discreet slave.

  Ooo, don't run ahead of Jah's FDS!

  Yes we may yet have years left in this system or not but as our dear young brother Tigr stated let us each make sure WE ARE READY and serving Jehovah faithfully to the best of our ability at ALL TIMES everyday.

  The end is coming, the end is coming ... oops, maybe not, maybe it's years away, but better keep selling mags.

  I was very encouraged in talking to my almost 19 year old nephew today. He is working now toward baptism and like many of our young ones can sometimes get a little distracted by things like sports and music etc. He was really shaken by what happened today and the first thing he said was 'Do you think this is the great tribulation?' So I told him 'Well, we can't say yet what it means. And talked about the things that have yet to take place..the fall of Babylon etc. Then he said 'Wow, this is a real wake up call for me! I'm really going to get baptized now! And if they start up the draft I will go to prison if they try to make me fight! And I know all my friends(other young ones in his Hall) will go to prison too if we have to.' Then he was going to call his friends to encourage each other.

  This is what makes me sick. I see this scenario happinging a hundred, thousand times over. Those who were getting out or not serious take this as a 'sign' to get back in. Very sad.

  i was in the town this morning and saw a little cluster of jws leaving the kingdom hall, clutching their ministry bags, eager to go out into the field service.... well, maybe eager isnt quite the right word.... anyway, i thought to myself - how many people will they convert today?

  one, two, a whole family?

  the more obvious answer is none at all.

  Ah yes, the sign of the times. Forget about the fact that wars in centuries past were much more deadly, plauges much more deadly, hunger much more common, etc. Things are SO BAD now. I wish I lived in the 14th century, I could have had the plauge, been hungry w/ all my teeth rotted out, been drawn and quartered, or scewered like a human shish-kabob for doubting the churches offical beliefs. Or perhaps I could have lived a long and healthy life (40 years) before some new tyrant king came to my village raping my children and killing me. Ah the good ol days ...
