be patient: lets hope the world does not end soon
by malian inlike many others, i have not been able to change the views of my dear love, who has been brain-washed by the wts...(sigh).... however, i am waiting for the prophecy of 1914 to fail; the world will live on, and our loved ones will at least have a seed of doubt planted in their mind.
to all: be patient!
i think that it will be a real eye-opener for many.

no blood cards this year!
by DIM inlast night at meeting they told us to just use our blood cards from last year.
in the past they've always told us how important it was to get it signed every year so that people could see our current views as jw's.....doesn't this new arangement negate everything they've ever said in regards to this?
absolutely nuts!.

I was going to say ... I think that us apostates have given them some good ideas how to extract themselves from the blood mess ... especially the blood reform brothers who have worked on this for years. Just think, one article in the WT and suddenly all those JW's conciences will magically transform into 'allowing' themselves to take blood!
Or, they don't have any $$ to print new ones!

Synopses of the Danni issue
by seven006 infor those who would like a synopses of this issue for what ever reason, i would like to try and put as many of the confusing pieces together as i can.
why they chose to do it at a kingdom hall is understandable.
mark made his post and revealed a few facts in this issue that were suppressed by the gag order.

I'm sure that the WTBTS, with it's 100+ lawyers, had no problem getting a quickly delivered gag order from a friendly judge ...
I for one am waiting anxiously for the day I can hear that tape! It's gotta be good!

JW Leadership Is Evil
by metatron inin response to people like sexyteen, i point out that most witnesses.
are just naive, child-like people willing to believe most anything.
their leadership tells them.. however, watchtower leadership is genuinely evil.. why?

"Sexy Teen is my mother. The problem is that my mother is 63. She has the same sayings-line for line. It is a recital. Very sad..."
Isn't that funny how most JW's all sound EXACTLY like one another ... almost like they were 'programmed' ... nah, surely not?

"namewithheld: I see your point. If that were to happen to my dad, I would be comforted to know that he was faithful to Jehovah until the end. But I understand what you are saying"
But you don't get it! He didn't/wouldn't have died "faithful to Jehovah" - he would have died "faithful" to the society. Can't you see the difference? His death would be meaningless. He need not have died at all! And until you have been through as tramatic an experience as this I don't think it's fair to say you'd "be comforted" by that. My bet is you'd be roally pissed off.
"Donating blood is also not allowed because we would be participating in blood transfussions."
Yet you are allowed to take Albinum (sp?) - a blood faction that take dozens of pints of human blood to produce. Can you not see the logic problem here? You can profit from the good people who care enough about others to donate blood (yea, yea, I know they pay deadbeats to donate too), yet you yourself will not do the same?
And actually, if you reread that questions from readers from a year or so ago, you will see that now voting is a 'conscience matter'. So you can vote IF YOU SEE FIT. Of course, the JW leaders tried to make this VERY subtle so as not to offend long-time witnesses - but the fact is (due to their UN memebrship!!!!!!) they can no longer oust memebers forcefully if they want to vote. It is against the UN charter. And yet they pretend to "be no part of the world".

I'm sure we're overloading SextTeen!!!
"freeman: the Bible only says blood. the organ transplants i'm not sure about. Being part of Mexico's army does not sound right. No JWs are part of the army."
So the bible says "No blood". OK. So why can you take PARTS of the blood? Check your medical directive - it's complicated, but points out which blood factions a JW may take. Also, why do you eat meat? NO meat you buy in a supermarket is totally bled - you are eating SOME blood too. But it's OK to pick and choose I guess.
As for the transplants, do a search on your WT CD - back in the late 60s they were banned as "Canninablism". Then in the late 70s/early 80s they were suddenly "a consciense matter". Nowadays most JWs do accept transplants. Not all JWs, but most, and you won't be punished by the elders for them. In fact, I bet you've never even given much thought to transplants being 'bad' have you? That's cause they're not teaching that anymore. It's a "Non-issue"

Just to drop in my 2c's - which are probably not worth even 2c's anymore , I too have seen many cases of elder's meetings during meetings, or before/after. I don't know why they do that, other than maybe because they don;t want to take even more time from their JW busy filled lives - so since they're already dressed up and at the KH they schedule the meeting.
I have also been exposed to and seen the very dark side of many elders. I'm not saying all, or even most, but there have been plenty. Elder's that beat their children. Elder's that hit their wives. Elders that verbally abuse 'weak' ones in the hall. Public humiliation, marking and shunning. I've seen ALL that. I've seen the terrible power struggles that invade elder bodies ALL the time, elder's trying for months to oust other elders that oppose their policies. It's all a politic struggle. Just like every other human organization on this planet!

Sexyteen, your question ...
"One question, what rules does the Governing Body impose that are not in the Bible?"
I'll give you a couple.
NO vaccines.
NO organ transplants
NO smoking (I know, I know about the 'clean body' scripture. Twist it how you may, but it DOES NOT refer to smoking - if it did you must also never drink alchohal)
YOU MUST SCREAM IF RAPED, oops, we mean, it's ok if you don't. Oh did we say that? We meant YOU MUST SCREAM IF RAPED. Repeat about 7 more times.
Sorry got carried away ... there are plenty more where that came from

I love it, you notice the average JW's defence that they are not a cult? It always falls abck to "A cult follows a man, we do not follow a man, we follow Jesus". However, cults do not always follow a man the proper definition is a leader, which is often 'a man' but not always. The JWs very much follow a leader and that leader is "the society". Notice the way that term is bantered about in everyday JW speeh, as if it were a living entity. This is very insidous, as the JWs don't even realize they are doing it! But all their speeh is "what does the society say about this?" which has them running, NOT to the bible, but to the elders or WT mags. They live and breath whatever the society tells them. It got so bad the the society had to tell them to be careful about saying the term the society around non-beleivers.
BTW, if you can't do math, i.e. 2+2=4 ...
the society = The governing body = 12 very old white men

Sexy, I don't mean to twist your words. When communicating over a texted based system you fail to see emotions, etc that are reflected in a person's words. I was using your post to illustrate a tendancy that JWs (and JW leaders) seem to have - that of minimising people's pain. After all, it doesn't matter how badly you are treated by the brothers, right? Jehovah will make it all better "in his time", right? Don't tell me you've never heard the famous "wait on Jehovah" speech when you have a problem!
Your words just struck me as typical JWism "Oh well, those were different times" In one sentence you dismissed the lifetime of sacrifices that were made in the name of the JW religion - sacrifices that were tossed out the window in a heartbeat as soon as 'doubts' were expressed. It's the same excuse the 'brothers' have made for every failed prophesy - "Sorry, now get back to preaching!"
Let's put it this way. Right now, you cannot take a blood trasnfusion, right? Now, let's say your father dies in part due to the fact that he refuses a transfusion. Now, let's say two years down the road, the 'brothers' say "Oh, new light, I guess it's OK to have a transfusion, it's a 'conscience' matter - we won't DF or reprove you anymore". How will you feel? How will your mother feel? How would you feel if your child died?
And don't dismiss the above. It HAS already happened. At one point, vaccines were forbidden. At one point organ transplants were forbidden. People DIED because of this. And then the 'brothers' decided maybe it's not against 'god's will' after all. Oh, sorry about your family that died "But those were different times"
