Justice for the Silent Lambs

wanted to let y'all know that the watchman sight i told ya about a while back is now gunning it to the legal deprtment at the ol' watchtower.

quite a ripper on the whole silentlambs thing on line, too.

maybe someone could even pass word for this one?.

I enjoyed the essay. Among other things It addresses the fact that witnesses do indeed teach that child abuse is wrong, this is an objection I hear continually from the Rank & File, yet the reality is different than the words. It also mentions the WAIT ON JEHOVAH attitude. I'm not sure if God has a clue this organization (jw's) even exists but the essay uses good reasoning for talking with JW's.

Jesus Christ condemned the Pharisees for their hypocrisy because they scrupulously observed relatively minor aspects of the Law, but disregarded the weightier matters having to do with justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Likewise, we have devoted ourselves to faithfully engaging in field service and regularly attending meetings, we have even proclaimed that we abhor child abuse, yet by our organizational policies we are denying justice and mercy to thousands of sexually abused children in our congregations! And do we imagine that Jehovah God shall be an accomplice to such atrocities? How could God possibly condone what is taking place among Jehovah's Witnesses?

as an elder and judge at a judical committee hearing, their main job is supposed to be determining if the person is repentant, not guilty or innocent.

in the jw judicial system the guilt is almost always established prior to the hearing.

they either have two people that saw you commit the sin, or a confession.

Apparently we have been using the abridged version of the Holy Scriptures. This is the only explanation as surely our loving governing body would not have led us astray and ceased following Jesus Christ's teaching. It has come to my attention that in my Bible Jesus full conversation with the Samaritan lady at the well has likewise been condensed. Undoubtedly Jesus would have grilled her about her sex acts and her under garments before he granted her forgiveness. Also don't you think the Bible would have many more readers if we could read Nathan's entire inquisition of King David? Just think how valuable David's in-depth description of sexual intercourse from thousands of years ago would be to sociologists. Are we to believe that Nathan didn't get all the details? Obviously he behaved as an elder would today, I mean where else did they get the pattern of healthful works?

We may not have this information but thankfully the loving brothers at Watchtower realized its important and included inquisitions and an opportunity for pennants to grovel at their hearings.

Another Media Source To Cover March

i have a friend who is a jw/wd (jehovah's witness with doubts) and when she heard about the silentlambs march she gave me the name and address of a possible media source to cover the march.

i contacted them by telephone this morning and sure enough they seem to be interested in covering the march because of the publicity the pedophile issue among jw's has generated.

i am requesting that all who feel so inclined to please drop them an email encouraging them to cover the march.

The Judges comments are unnerving. I get the feeling that she doesn't understand the issue at all. She should have read Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Scarlett Letter" Did the lawyer ever use that anology? It there a place to send letters or emails?

Last night my dad tried to commit suicide

i'm still blown away by it.

when i went out the door this morning to take the kids to school (7:15 a.m.) i turned on my cell phone and there were two messages from his retirement home, both saying that he had fallen at about 4:30 a.m. and was being taken to the hospital.

i called the hospital and they told me that he said he had taken 18 xanax in an effort to kill himself.

Okay here goes....My Story. Long but true.

please bear with me through this, this could likely become lengthy.

i feel it's time for me to give you my story as a dub.

i was born and raised in an extremely "hardcore", strict witness home.

I am sorry for your misery and yet your story is an inspiration. What strength you must have had to rebuilt your life and I wish you all the happiness this life can give.

I'll never forget my father's words to me the first time I was hit by my husband. Before I could even get the story out, he said and I quote, "What did you do to deserve it?"

My sister was married to an abusive JW alcoholic, no matter how often she went to the elders she never received any help. Eventually drinking and driving he ran over two young people who were walking on the sidewalk, killing the young man. My sister called the elders---the first thing they asked her: What did you do to make him drink? She had been at the Thursday night meeting.

It makes me wonder if the attitude of blaming women was taught in the elder's secret meetings?
