  Luke's great omission

  in looking at a harmony of the synoptic gospels it becomes quite visible that luke generally follows mark's gospel as his primary source yet tweeking and adjusting when he felt necessary and supplimenting mark with q material.

  however luke seems to have deliberately omitted the whole section from mark 6:45 - 8:10. it has been argued that this section of mark was not in the copy that luke used as his source.

  there are other resons to believe that in fact it is true that this section was by a later hand than the bulk of the text.

  What is even more curious is that the writers regard the "feeding of the 5000" as miraculous. Those familiar with aramaic customs and culture have pointed out the propensity of eastern peoples to carry a good deal of food on their person. That custom persists today as anyone who has worked in Agriculture at U.S. Ports of Entry can tell you. Ones ability to stay at a seminar (as Jesus was conducting) depended in large part on how long you could make your food last. You could make it last a lot longer if you could share your neighbor's food while preserving your own. Jesus understood full well that there was plenty of food in that crowd. He did two things to bring it forth into manifestation. He announced that the seminar was over and he used the small boy who was willing to share his food as an example. The miracle was in the sharing and not any "hocus pocus" conducted under a sheet as the movie producers would have us believe. The unfamiliarity with customs and culture of the Jews living in Palestine suggest that all of the gospels were written by greeks working with Q material that they didn't fully understand. The wedding at Cana as recounted in the Gospel of John is another example of writing by someone who didn't have an intimate familiarity with the customs and culture of the area.

  so there i was, slaving away in a customers front garden, cutting fascias and guttering to size prior to affixing them to his home.

  like all window and gutter fixers, my clothes are covered with a hundred finger marks where i have used my forefinger to point in the mastic and then just wiped it on the nearest thing to hand, ie, me.

  i look like i have been the victim of a 1000 seagull bomber raid.

  I'm amazed that she admitted that the WTS was wrong about 1975. The standard alibi around here is that "some of the brothers were too far ahead in their desire for this system to end". They ignore the financial devastation that so many families experienced that will last for many more years.

  That JW support system is pretty thin really. When my kids started bailing out of the "truth", my wife felt that I was responsible (and I was). She decided to leave me. Turned out that all that "support" was short term and evaporated rather quickly. She came back rather quickly and has no more illusions about the support system.

  We are all victims or beneficiaries of our culture to some extent. Parents are an important part of the equation and must bear some of the responsibility. My mother taught Latin in the public school system for more than 30 years. She generally had quite a few Jewish students. Why? Because their parents insisted that they take the class. She was always glad to have them because she knew that one phone call home relating that "Abie" was not performing would take care of the situation.

  The Fort Worth Star Telegram recently posted a page listing all of the local high schools valedictorians and salutatorians. A disproportionate number of the names were Asian. Are Asians smarter than anglo whites? Probably not. Do they work harder and have strong family bonds? You bet they do!

  This material is about 50 minutes in length and well worth listening to. Thanks for posting it. There are three renowned individuals who are being interviewed. I've paid a fair amount of registration fees at conferences to listen to individuals of this caliber. It is a real treat to get to listen for free.

  well, our lorries are different to your trucks.. ours are flat fronted, yours have a bonnet.. ours are taller, yours are wider.. ours go like sh*t off a shovel, your kenworths couldn't pull a greased kitten out of bed.

  Actually american trucks also weigh 92,000 lbs. They may be wider than yours because our roads aren't so narrow. The max legal load is 36,000 lbs on each dual axle and 20,000 lbs is allowed on the front axle. I don't think your British trucks carry small apartments behind the driver as ours do.

  some of you know that we live way out in the country, deep in the woods of northern mn.

  one of the great things out here is the abundant wildlife that we see everyday.

  last week we had a huge porcupine in the yard (which our four year old calls a hamster.....lol).

  Wonderful pictures! We put out food every morning for the birds, but don't get the variety that you do as we live in the city. The doves are getting so tame, they don't even fly when we drive up. We have two cats next door so have to keep an eye out for them. Do you have problems with the squirrels getting in your feeders? They are clever little rascals and very ingenious at getting into whatever they want.

  after 11 years of living in my mom's house, i've moved back to my old house, with the help of some professionals because there where some large cupboards i coul'nt handle myself.

  however, i had to pack everything myself and that was a lot more then i expected.. my mother was a "collector" (so am i) and i coul'nt throw everything away - with the result that i have packed over 40 boxes.. .

  my own house , ( i kept the rent) was used by viv (on her own) for more then 8 years and viv did't move all her stuf out - for her appartment is a small (but a very lovely) one: just a bedroom and a livingroom - with a kitchen-part in the living - so she left a lot of things (and yes, viv is a collector too) she planned to store (what she left) in the attic (when that is the right name- my dictionaries are still in one of the boxes) but at the moment that stuf is still everywhere in the house - so i am not able to unpack all those boxes and re-organise everything.. i un-packed 19 boxes now, (did'nt found my beauty case which i am in need for very much) can't use my office (i am working at home) at all: to much boxes still to unpack.. .

  You call it being a "collector". I call it being a "pack rat". I'm afraid I am afflicted with that same syndrom. Be careful how much weight you put in the attic. It can have a bad effect on the ceiling. You and Viv probably need to have a big garage sale.

  What makes you think God has anything to do with what is going down on this earth? Are we not "doing our own thing". I do not believe in the existence of a power for evil other than our own ego self that believes we have successfully accomplished a separtation for our Creator with the objective of becoming our own gods. Ever wake up from a bad dream and been very relieved to find out that you were only dreaming? That is they way it will be for us all some day. The good news is that it doesn't have to be a bad dream. I do not believe in the made up stories to explain why evil exists in the world. I'm sure Leolaia could give us a good background on what the original role of Satan was in the old testament literature.
