Do you agree that, if there are errors in the bible, then it's all wrong?

in other words, if you can find a few errors in the bible, will you throw away the whole notion of the bible being "inspired by god".

example: if you find any error in the bible, will it take away the notion that killing is wrong, or stealing is wrong, .

so where do you draw the line, and accept certain biblical teachings and reject other biblical teachings?.

Terry-Outstanding Post! Don't forget the equally insane notion that God ceased revealing Himsel/Herself to man because a bunch of religious polititians got together and decided to close the canon. The prevalent practice of "Bibliolotry" is a major impediment to the development of Spirituality. I've acturally run into people who believe that Jesus wrote the King James version of the Bible. Truth is Truth! There is much truth in the Bible. There is a bunch of other stuff as well. You know truth when you read it or hear it. Richard Bach, in the Master's Notebook portion of his work Illusions, says:

Learning is finding out what you already know

Doing is demonstrating that you know it.

Teaching is reminding others that they know as well as you.

You might want to hit the library and check out a recent issue of Consumer Reports. They have tested both kinds and list the pros and cons of each. They also tested individual brands.

Interesting Post! You can be assured that the Pharmaceutical companies will attack this research with all their might. It will not be the first inexpensive cancer cure to be buried in lawsuits and misinformation. The relationship between the big Pharma and the FDA appears to be very incestuous.

THE RESURRECTION

i've recently started studying with a house church movement, and they have an interesting slant on the ressurection and eternity:.

firstly with regard to time and space as we experience it in our 4 dimensional world and time as experienced in the spiritual world :.

it seems that time between the two worlds does not run parrallel, and of course god and christ can move and exist outside of time and space in both worlds , hence it is possible for god to see all of history at once - should he choose too.

How about the concept that the whole thing is a dream to begin with? How about we never left our home in heaven but are only dreaming that we did? Could it be that the dream was over in an instant, but is only playing out in linear time to accomodate our human minds? An exciting film can be complete within the film cannister, but can only be experienced when played through a "projector" one frame at a time. That "projector" is our human consciousness.

Wagner - inspired kingdom melodies???

i'm just listening to some classical music online at work and the piece "die meistersinger, overture" is on- so many of its phrases (or whatever you call little sections of the song) are totally the same as some kingdom melodies... .

right now i can hear "look i am making all things new" (or whatever the actual title is) in wagners piece.... .

aaaiiigh.

I am no expert on classical music, but I noted many years ago how some of the "Kingdom Melodies" are almost identical to the old classics which are in the public domain. I suspect that Jaguarbass is correct. They lifted them from there because they don't have to give credit or pay royalties. Only a small proportion of their members would be aware of the similarities with the classics.

i've completed a lengthy conversation with my father about the bible and jws and said to him:.

jws place a lot of emphasis when studying and preaching with others on one main thing about what the bible is mainly about; that is the devil and those who practise his works and how to avoid him and them and for everlasting life on earth.. i asked my father, who is the biggest enemy of god and jesus?

Almost all religion is based on "Separation Theology". That is the insane notion that we somehow successfully managed to separate ourselves from our Creator. The so called "Devil" is merely that part of our consciousness that is dreaming that insane dream of separation. That is what Jesus was dealing with during his time in the wilderness following his baptism by John. We are all connected to each other in ways we don't fully understand. Jesus understood this. When we "forgive our enemies", we are really forgiving ourselves. When he said "When you do it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye do it unto me" he was referring to this connection. There is no "devil" per se. There is only that part of us who likes to dream that we can be our own gods.

it is little wonder that jehovah's witnesses are so superstitious when they take in things such as the latest offering from the fds:.

Ancient idols?

something that has always puzzled me was the descriptions of solomon's temple as well as the golden snake in moses day.

with giant angel statues in the holy of holies and the golden bulls and the countless other "graven" images in the temple that were supposedly god approved.

how was this not blatent idolatry.

I heard a bible scholar lecture once regarding the "snake" symbol lifted up in the desert during the Exodus. According to him, it had nothing to do with snake bites, but with venereal disease. According to him, the hebrews were infested with VD when they left Egypt. Their method of dealing with it was to slaughter those infected. Rather drastic, but it worked.

My Son, The Church, My Son in Law, and Iraq

my son-in-law has received his orders to go to iraq.

he will leave soon.

i would go in his place, as he is like a son to me, but i am too old and not in good health, and the military will not take me.
