Does it really matter if people think it's real?

the common thing now a days in media is to try to disprove the likes of john edwards and to say that these men are frauds.

in reality though, when i see this happen i wonder how such people feel when they see evidence that perhaps jesus christ did not exist, or that evolution might be right.

the answer is, they would not like it.

Part of the price of admission to this life experience is the acceptance of the belief that it is real. We are taught to rely on our senses in order to determine what reality is for us. Yet, we know that our bodily senses are very unreliable. That which seems solid to our human sight and touch is, in reality, mostly empty space. The Hindus call it "Maya" which means illusion. And they are right! I, like you, have good reason to believe that I have loved ones on the "other side" who care for me and occassionally find little ways to let me know they are there. I have known folks, however, that get so distracted trying to communicate with those "crossed over" that they don't live life on this side. Some seem to think that those crossed over are enlightened and know more than we do. Probably not. If you apply the definition of "permanent" to the term real, then all of this is illusion because none of it will last. Perhaps we have enrolled in a crash couse of spiritual development called "Earth Experience 101".

HOW WOULD YOU KILL YOUR CHILD?

there's a question which has puzzled me for many years, especially when i was a jw.

i always liked the analogy of the creator as being a loving father.

i have four daughters and i consider myself to be a loving father.

I know that I am out of character in this matter, but I don't think that anyone will be lost. We are all made out of "God stuff" and formed in the image and likeness of God. How can God lose part of himself? Would you punish a child because he had a bad dream? Neither would I. That is not to say, however, that there will not be consequences. I suspect that the rembrance of the mistakes that I have made will be quite painful when I get to the other side. There is a line in A Course In Miracles that says it all.

" It is God's will that you be in heaven; and nothing can keep you from it or it from you."

It is pure arrogance to think that what God created perfect can be changed in any way by us.

Yes, I know all about "free will", but that falls into the trap of attributing human qualities to God.

D.i.y atomic bombs

its seems that according to statistics uranium or plutonium could easily be smuggled and used by terrorists almost anywhere to assemble a weapon of mass destruction.. also as u know it seems to be easy when you got the simple materials to assemble an atom bomb according to numerous sources.. is this true that it is very simple to build a an atom bomb,reminds me of the forth protocol

While the technology required to build a fission weapon like "Fat Man" is pretty high level, the technology required to build a fission weapon such as "Little Boy" is pretty simple. Getting weapons grade material might be tough, but the economic situation in Russia could make it pretty easy. I understand that some of their soldiers haven't been paid for awhile.

i have been smoking off and on for over a year,,,,,,,never smoked before this year in my life.. it all started just for the hell of it.

then as my hub and i started going out dancing and hitting the town, cig smoke was everywhere.

i would comehome with it in my hair and all over my clothes.

I smoked for about 30 years and consumed about 2 packs per day. It was inexpensive because I was in the military service. Anyone that says nicotine is not addictive needs to have their head examined. It is one of the most addictive substances on earth. Fortunately for me, I was the only one in my family that smoked. Giving it up was one of the hardest things I ever did. The withdrawal symptons went away in a few weeks, but I dreamed I was smoking for about one year. I feel a lot better now, but did put on some weight. Food tastes better and I have a lot more energy. I've been off for about 15 years, but know that I am only 3 cigarettes from 2 packs per day. My wife and kids tell me that I smell a lot better.

I recommend a program called Smokewatchers International. It involves about 2 weeks of documenting your habit and noting which cigarettes you enjoy most. Then you start giving up the ones you enjoy the least. The hardest to give up are the ones you smoke with coffee or after a meal. I went "cold turkey" when I got down to 10. I wasn't much fun to be around for awhile, but my family was very understanding.

Why would you claim for Jesus what Jesus did not claim for himself? Jesus was not God, nor did he claim to be. He did claim to embody the qualities of God, but that is not the same as claiming to be God. When the "rich young ruler" addressed him as "Good Master", Jesus replied "Why callest thou me good?" "None is good save God".

The Sonship is much greater than Jesus. We are all part of that Sonship. Jesus would be more properly viewed as our elder brother, teacher, spiritual master.

Your description of the rebellion in heaven and God's dealing with it is almost identical to some channeled material presented by Gloria and Kenneth Wapnick in their book, Awaken from the Dream, A presentation of A Course in Miracles. They use the term "dark beings" rather than Satan, but the ideas are similar including your statement that it was over in a split second of God's time, but seems to go on and on in our concept of time. I think you would find the book interesting. It is available from Foundation for a Course in Miracles, P.O. Box 783, Crompond, NY 10517.

i will be talking with a jw soon about the trinity.

she tells me that she can use any translation to disprove the trinity and that jesus is not divine.

i feel good about talking to her but i would love to know their plan.

I wouldn't waste a lot of time trying to defend the Trinity doctrine. You can ask 10 people to define it and get 10 different answers. The scriptural basis is shakey at best. You have to ask yourself, "Is this(understanding the doctrine) going to affect my spiritual connection with my Creator?" Probably not. The only reason the JW wants to discuss it is to show that your church and beliefs are wrong. That doesn't mean that they are right. Ask them to provide the scriptual basis from shunning family members, destroying families, and judging others. They will quote out of context and, like the Pharasees, focus on the letter rather than the spirit of the law. THEY ARE A MIND CONTROL CULT, FIRST LAST AND ALWAYS!

Will God intervine?

or is this life on earth only a testing or proving ground for an eternal life elsewhere?

as jw's we were taught that god will intervine in the world and bring the earth to a unified state under a theocratic government.

so, is man capable of maintaining the earth without intervention from a "higher source"?

No! God will not intervene. This illusion is our own. However, our more enlightened brothers, Jesus, Budda, Lao Tse may very well try to wake us up from this dream of separation from God.

Life After Death.

why did jesus speak of a dead man as merely sleeping?does this mean that there is no life after death?that death and sleep are actually one and the same?lazarus himself is silent about this.after having spent four days in the tomb dead, he comes alive,or awakens from sleep.when we really sleep our bodies do not corrupt.they clean house so to speak and we are refreshed for another day of life.however,what about lazarus,his body started to corrupt, for he was indeed dead,yet when jesus resurrected him he was whole, alive again..where was he for four days.

?and does the answer to this question answer the question "is there life after death"?

im not asking about near death experiences.that's a whole other subject.im wondering if the lazarus case was unique in demonstrating jesus' power over death,no matter how long one is dead, for he had resurrected others also.

You need not lecture me on the aramaic version of Jesus's name. I am well aware of it. I use the name Jesus because that is understood by most on this board. You need not lay out any funds to become familiar with A Course in Miracles. Simply do a web search on it or go to www.acim.org. However, when you transition this earthly experience, be sure and explain to your "Lord" and master that you were too cheap to procure his words for mankind. Your tone is quite arrogant and you don't know me well enough to make assumptions about the way I present material.

The gist of this thread, in case you have forgotten, deals with the continuance of life after death. The position of A Course in Miracles is that death has no reality(read permanence). You have not explained satisfactorily how God, who deals only in perfection, could create a flesh body which is subject to disease, aging, and death. It also suggests that the primary purpose of Jesus's sojurn on earth was to demonstrate the Love that God Is and to demonstrate that death could be overcome.
