I know very few JW's my age who have made any financial provision for their old age. They didn't need to because amagedon was coming, or so they thought. Now they will be a burden on their children, if they have any, or the state. I haven't heard any plans for the GB to come to their aid.

Waiting...
by JH inwhat must go through the minds of older jehovah witnesses, who believed that they would never die and now face the reality that they will die of old age?
being told since a century that
that the end is near just made them keep on producing without questioning.

You are the only one who can decide what is best for you and yours. Your wife is indeed fortunate to have someone like you. As Saint Satan would say, "the good in you is God in you showing through". God bless you both!

Are you sure you don't mean Carl Jung. He was a very famous psychologist who died in 1961 and wrote a number of books that deal with religious mattters. Many psychologists are described as belonging to the "Jungian school". Do a search on the last name and you will find all that you need.

Of Mice and Men
by mindfield in.
i believe we'll be seeing more and more evidence of evolution as our science and technology gets better.
i have to admit, though, it's pretty weird admitting that you come from the same common ancestor as the common mouse.

I guess we ought to be grateful to that mouse ancestor that managed to survive the catastrophic event that wiped out the dinosauers.

Excellent post! It reminds me of a time when I was board chairman of a small Christian Church that hired a recent seminary graduate to be its minister. His first sermon was on the "Shallow theology of some popular Christian hymns". You know the ones I mean, "When they ring those golden bells...", "Washed in the blood..." His mission was to educate, but he managed to alienate almost every member. When I got home, my JW wife told me that the phone had been ringing off the wall. A common theme was..."that was my late mother's favorite hymn, how dare he demean it...". As indicated in your post, he found it necessary to keep much of what he had learned in Seminary a secret.

Not so! I don't have a great deal of confidence in the bible as the record of God's word, but that doesn't change my view of Jesus as my spiritual master. I don't believe that he was God, but he surely has helped show us the way to God. He came to show us what the possibilites were and that death could be overcome. Most Christians are so intent on giving worship to Jesus that they forget he said.."the things that I do, shall ye do also, and greater things shall ye do..." Jesus cannot do it for us. We have to do it for ourselves. In my opinion, the story of the prodical son tells us everything we need to know..and do..to find our way home to God. I don't believe that the religion of Christianity reflects what Jesus taught.

I know the Bible is True
by SwedishChef ini know the bible is true because.... * it is infallible.
there is not one contradiction with these pages.
humans are fallible; the bible is not.. * the word of god is the source of true wisdom.

Has it occurred to you that you are guilty of practicing "Bibliolotry"? That is giving your worship to a book. How is that different from giving your worship to a statue?

Congratulations and commendations for your part in the "rescue" operation. My son lost his wife because she wouldn't leave when he was ready to get out. In fact, she turned him in to the elders when he started exploring other churches. Any chance of you two getting back together?

Who is Christ?
by Kurt inthis is a question for an active witness.
do witnesses believe jesus is the christ, the predicted messiah?
if not, is messiah still to come?.

Perhaps Christ is that sacred part of all of us where the memories of who and what we really are abide, only waiting to be awakened. Jesus was able to access that place within himself and so became the Christ.
