Aramaic scholars have suggested that the words attributed to Jesus should have been translated "My God, My God, For this purpose was I born".

God Turned His Face Away
by ClassAvenger ini've been reading the angels: god's secret agents by billy graham and i found something interesting about when jesus died on the cross.
he says that when jesus died, he was abandoned by men, angels, and by the father who's eyes are too pure to look at sin, and in the expiatory agony of the son he turned his face away.
that's why jesus said: my god, my god, why hast thou forsaken me?

Existing in the nature of God
by ClassAvenger ini preached to a jw and they used the following verse against me:
phi 2:6
"who existing in the nature of god, did not consider being equal to god something to be held onto," he said that this was one of the texts that disproved the trinity because it does not state that he was god, but that he existed in the nature of god: divine.

We are all created in the image and likeness of God. It is just that Jesus let that image shine forth better than anyone in history. How can one be equal to something of which they are a small part? Yet Jesus let all the attributes of God shine forth through himself.

Is the WTS hiding cash in plain sight? If so, why?
by Mindchild ini came across something recently that i'm not supposed to know.
before i go further, i should state that what i'm saying here is purely speculation based on minimal evidence and i'm not saying that the wts is using this "privacy" vehicle to hide some of their considerable millions.
i further cannot give you the name of the source of the person who shared this information with me.

I agree with Six. The U.S. banking laws are a burden on the bankers, not necessarily the depositors. I believe the banks would be required to report such a transaction. If this were true, money laundering would be a snap for the drug lords. I too would be interested in seeing the documentation that says banks don't have to report on foriegners.

PAID IN FULL?
by Blueblades injesus paid the price in full.why then have others been crucified, thrown to the wild beast, burned alive, and brutally treated if jesus went through the sufferings for christians.
what value can there be in this repetitive untold suffering of the innocent christian men woman and children?the price being paid in full already should satisfy justice, where is the justice in its continuance of horrible human suffering?is the price paid in full or not?.

Good question! Why indeed? Perhaps it is because we have blocked out from our human minds the awareness of God's presence. Perhaps it is because we really don't understand why Jesus came. I find the idea of Jesus being the atonement for our "sins" to be disgusting. I think he came to show us what the possibilities were and that this life on earth, with its undue attachment to these mounds of flesh we call bodies, is not as real as we seem to think. Our ultimate fear is death and so it was necessary to demonstrate that death can be overcome. We imagine that God is angry at us and so we punish ourselves in the vain hope that we can avoid God's anger. Insane? Of course! We just can't accept that God loves us. A Course In Miracles puts it this way:
"You cannot understand how much God loves you because there is no parallel in your experience of this world to help you understand it. There is nothing on earth with which it can compare and nothing you have felt apart from Him resembles it ever so faintly"

Gordon Jump of 'WKRP' and Maytag Ad Dies
by Xandria inlos angeles - gordon jump, who played a befuddled radio station manager on the sitcom "wkrp in cincinnati" and made his mark in commercials as the lonely maytag repairman, died monday.
jump suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, said his cousin, katherine jump wagner.
the illness causes scarring of the air sacs of the lungs, leading to heart or respiratory failure.

WKRP in Cincinatti was a great show. Gordon Jump brought a lot of enjoyment to a lot of people. You can't do better than that. He will be missed. I surely would like to see some of the ru-runs of that old show.

Who really belives that there is a Satan
by Singing Man inis there any real evidence that there is a satan and a bunch of nasty demons?
it seems to be implanted on into our hard drives of our minds through the bible and religions litature.. it seems to me if the bible told us the moon was made of swiss cheese and religious litature said pigs could fly most humans would agree at once.
one mans opinion.

Not me! Most of the worlds troubles can be traced to a belief in "duality", a power other than God.

. Another Flood Question
by startingover ini spent most of my life being told things that i just accepted without questioning.
as i pick up a bible now and begin reading in genesis it sounds so different.
i remember the flood being used as an example of what would happen in our day.

You have to remember that the Jewish authors borrowed that story from the Babylonians. There was a good explanation of the "flood" on NOVA (TV) the other night. It was a highly localized event as far as the earth was concerned, but devastating to the area affected. It was, in effect, a massive natural dam failure. It is also important to remember that there were no Hebrew people until Moses rounded up the "wetbacks" in Egypt and made of them a nation. Being a stubborn and stiff-necked people, it took Moses 40 years to sort them out. The Jews made good use of their time in captivity in Babylon and under the Persians. They borrowed a good deal from their concepts and ideas. Note the names of Job's friends in the Book of Job. Those are not Hebrew names. They also borrowed the concept of angels from the Persians. This belief and others marked the difference between the Pharisees and the Sadducees in Jesus and Paul's day.

Why I never will never fully love or understand Jehovah
by berylblue init's kind of hard to love and trust someone who will off thousands of persons merely because they bitched becaused they were bored of bread...and that's just for starters.. .
i tried to rationalize it as jw saying, "well, we are jehovah's possessions, he created us and, by killing us, he is just reclaiming what is his.".
that is not a very firm foundation for true love.

Basic problem with almost all religion-Belief in a power other than God.
Second most basic problem-Belief in a God outside yourself.
Third basic problem-Acceptance of the literal words of the bible. Saint Satan has it right. It is a very limited and myopic view of what God is.
The WTBTS suffers from all three of these and as a result has really screwed up a lot of people's lives.

Would a Good God Really Create a Place Called HELL?
by Blueblades ini have read a number of different materials on this subject, doctrine, teaching, topic and still can't reconcile that a good god would really create a place called hell.
jeremiah 7:31and 19:5 and they have built the high places of tophet, which is in the valley of the son of hinnom,to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which i did not command ,nor did it come into my heart.
if burning of sons and daughters never came into god's heart, and god is good and loving, why the teaching of a burning hell-fire as eternal punishment for most of mankind who have no idea about this or the so-called way out of this hell?

God would not create a place called hell, but mankind would. The English word hell has a root meaning "limiting" or "restricting". In the rural areas in England the farmers still refer to "helling" their livestock. The one thing we take with us when we "die" is our consciousness. For many, the tendency will be that expressed so well by the Prodigal Son. He wanted to be made one of the hired hands because of his feeling of unworthiness. You will recall, however, that the Father would have none of that and had the robe draped around his shoulders and placed the ring on his finger and ordered the servants to prepare a feast of celebration. Hell is the blocking out of the awareness of God's presence. It cannot be a permanent condition because God will not allow it. As A Course in Miracles puts it. "God's will is that you be in heaven and nothing can keep you from it or it from you."
