In my cong:
10 Elders
5 born in
5 recruited most while in their 20's- prior to 1995
this is an unofficial survey.. was curious as to the number of currently serving elders who were born-in and/or raised as jw versus those who were "recruited"( i.e, not born in or raised as jw.).
for instance, right now in the hall i am assigned to:.
2 elders were born-in and/or raised as jws.. 5 were not (recruited as adults).

it seems to me that you must be almost perfect to be a " servant" in the organization today.
no college, no spiritually weak in the family, no disfellowshipped living at home, no tight pants, etc......who can live up to their lofty ideals?.
.
It all has to do with what is considered "exemplary". As a former elder Min you must know what I am referring to, and it varies from congregation to congregation. By the way this only applies to Joe Schmo brothers. Once you are a pioneer or even better a Bethelite you are automatically exemplary and nothing can change that as long as you remain with those privleges. Pioneer and Bethelite brothers know more than publishers, they are automatically more spiritual, and immediately qualify for any other and all appointments.
does a female kingdom publisher need to wear a head covering if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher?.
in a questions from readers item published in the watchtower of july 15, 2002, it was stated that a sister should cover her head if she conducts a bible study in the presence of a male publisher, whether he is baptized or not.
further consideration of the matter suggests that a modification to this direction is appropriate.. if the male publisher who accompanies the sister while she conducts an established bible study is baptized, the sister would certainly want to wear a head covering.
lol
why else would he constantly bring up "gay-inspired" clothing when speaking to such large audiences?.
nothing wrong with being gay.
but he should just come out of the closet already and stop all this stupidity... just saying.. .
George Couch who was a prominent heavy at Bethel for decades used to always bring up "homo's and lesbo's" in his morning worship comments. This is nothing new, AM3 was basically speaking to the the entire US Branch as if he was at a morning worship or lecture to the Bethel family. They are used to it already and I am sure if you were to speak to some Bethelites they would tell you that this is common place and the Branch Meeting was even tame.
the borg has many inconsistencies, when the topic is helping humble and honest people achieve their full potential.
consider a working man who works 40 to 60 hours a week and still manages to show up to all the meetings, participate, do all of his assigned work within the kh, but his ministry has slipped to 8 hours per month.
this same man is working hard to move up within the ranks only to get shut down without even knowing.. .
The elders are given vaugue instructions such as "the person being used for privleges must be exemplary" the problem is the word exemplary. What the hell does that even mean in JW terms anyway??
I remember elders meetings being dragged out for hours discussing if baptized brothers are exemplary enough to hold microphones, pray, read for the Bible Study... but not the WT Study, etc. etc. It is completely ridiculous. The problem is manifested in your dilema, different elders have different idea's of what exemplary is. In your case, that elder is rogue which means that he is being allowed to do these things and is not necessarily being sanctioned by the entire body of elders.
The COBE clearly has lost control no doubt because this rogue is connected in some way to the CO, the rest of the body, or the branch. Good luck with that!
no doubt you have heard about the nurse that thumbed her nose to the state and went out of the house in spite of being ordered to stay at home.
what is your opinion on this?.
.
Yes they do. I don't care if they have signs of infection or not. What happens if she was infected but not showing symptoms.. they say that its not infectious in that case but what if the virus mutated as they so often do. Better safe than sorry
at the international convention last week i caught up with my old congregation and asked about the young ones...there were 2 answers.
1. they flat out left got a boyfriend etc.
and 2. havent seen them for awhile meaning they faded or went off the grid so as not to be disfellowshipped.
I also saw a picture of a KM school recently. Almost completely older guys - average age had to be 60+. Long term , the future looks pretty dire - in Europe at least
Not here in my area of the U.S. There are older elders sure but the majority of my BOE and in surrounding congs there is a trend of 30's-40's elders. Many of them pioneers, CO wannabe's who are just waiting for Brother 70yearold to be put to pasture so he can swoop in and take control.
hello all, as you know, when jw tv was announced, our board went wild.
many comments, much speculation and alot of negative feedback on the quality, etc.
well, what has me concerned is that i have not heard a peep from any of my connections left in kingdom-land.
Maybe a 1/4 -1/3 of active dubs will think it's cheesy, but the rest are lapping this stuff up. The changes are being seen as positive
This is the reaction that I have been seeing, but what else can active JWs say about it? You can't say what you really feel just what you are expected to say. I do think your statistic of 1/4-1/3 is probably accurate as well.
They aren't evil just phoney. Totally fake, conditional love. Being a JW is one of the most annoying experiences socially because there are definitely cliques, ol' boys clubs, popular people, etc. as in any group. However the difference is when you are a JW you can not complain about it. John 13:35....love amongst ourselves, stop being petty, love covers a multitude of sins.... blah blah.
So pretty much you can be treated like crap by others, they can be phoney to your face, but you have to "love them" and "forgive them" lol.. such a wonderful, christian organization.
i knew some that were very happy for you and others, along with their families, that were envious of someone's advancement.. .
.
Not jealous but irritated that some ass sucker got appointed. Then again I was appointed an elder at 25 so I guess I was that ass sucker.... not anymore, boy do I regret that.
