Why start preaching work in 1876? Something to ask JW's who are still in

we learn from the bible that the characters that preached doomsday messages, such as lot, noah, etc all got to see the result of the message they preached, we studied that the final judgement from god was seen by the preacher as well as the people that heard and ignored the message.

my point is this, it would have been ridiculous for noah to start preaching to people, put the fear of god in all the listeners that the flood is coming, build the ark and then as a result, nothing happens to them.

even if the flood would have happened later, let's say 50 years after noah and all the people that heard him have died from natural causes.

Are quality restaurants even slightly aware of the concept..

of providing high quality food?.

personally i prefer the small restaurants with a owner who cooks the food.

often the food is equally imaginative and just as tasty as the more expensive restaurant.

we don't go to many restaurants. there is one that is part of a chain of restaurants that we usually got to and have the same meal everytime. usually try and go on a monday midday it's quiet and we can sit by the window and watch the river flow past. and the punts.

there is a coffee shop I go to regular and occasionally eat there, has a great view, comfy chairs and some nice millionaires shortbread. above a bookshop.

one hundred years have passed and the society still supports this lie, which of course, is the basis of their other lies, like that of the unfaithful and not discreet slave appointed in 1919. however, i wonder, what will happen after 50 years, when the overlapped generation will pass?.

and if you want, what will happen with this religion in 2100?, could it survive with the same lie??

I believe that in 1876 Russell published an article showing that the gentile times ended in 1914 and I think that this is still believed by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I understand that the anointed were commissioned in 1919 to speak in God’s name and in 1920 they discerned that they should preach the good news of the establishment of God’s Kingdom in 1914 in fulfilment of Matthew 24:14 as shown in the Watchtower article Gospel of the Kingdom July 1st 1920.

In the book, Man’s Salvation Out of World Distress At Hand! (Watch Tower 1975) page 47/48

‘The glorification of Jesus Christ in heaven after his extraordinary sufferings as a man on earth was good news, Gospel, Evangel. “Nevertheless,” writes the apostle Paul with special reference to his own people, “they did not all obey the good news…’

…The good news about the Messianic kingdom of Jehovah’s “Servant” is better news today than it was nineteen hundred years ago, in apostolic times. In the face of the relatively small proportion of the world’s population that has put faith in the “thing heard [from] us” or proclaimed by us, it can truthfully be said: “They did not all obey the good news.” ‘

In my opinion I think that if they were to change what has been proclaimed regarding 1914 it would be the same as changing what has been preached regarding the resurrection of Christ. So I don’t see it happening. The teaching of the end of the gentile times in 1914 is for good I think.

i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.

i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.

what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

I believed that I had the possibility of living forever and never growing old. There was the possibility of dying from illness, as one young witness did that I knew, or in some accident.

Surviving Armageddon was not totally secure in my mind as I believed it was the organization that would survive and not necessarily the individual.

As a young person the prospect of unfortunately dying from one of these situations and coming back very shortly in the resurrection with no prospect of sex or marriage was a depressing thought as was the thought of the elders being princes in the earth.

I understood the first world war began with a bang, the assassination of a Franz someone. When we were kids this was the first part of the tribulation and the tribulation would resume any day with Armageddon.

my impression from what I've read is that there is similarities in the new light with the old and so conclude it will start with a bang.

JW marriages: “They” looked good on paper.

i applaud anyone, male or female, who overcomes shallowness and looks at a person’s deeper qualities, especially in regard dating and marriage.

the movie and fashion industry does much to institute shallowness to the point that, in my opinion, it promotes outright discrimination and judgmentalism even as they give lip service to tolerance..

on the other hand, among jehovah’s witnesses, there seem to be a preponderance of incompatible marriages.

This has been reinforced by the words of Anthony Morris III at the US Branch visit: women should not marry a man who is not at least a ministerial servant. It was implied the marriage is doomed otherwise.

where can i find this so i can show it to a JW?

This was back in 2014 during the US zone visit. Any active JW in the US would have heard this.

"You know a man that's not serving there should be a real good reason why they're not serving as a Ministerial Servant. inaudible Sister you know how elders get put in awkward positions Uh what's the story with this brother I'm interested in marrying him. But they had already gone too far along. Now they tried to tell her they said well think about it he's 23 years old he's not a Ministerial Servant. Well she married him. She paid for that wrong decision. 23 years old and you're not serving as a Ministerial Servant?"

On another thread there was a link to a Watchtower article about Anthony Morris III his life and regarding his first love.

I remember the first time I fell in love I was quite young and the young lady asked me to meet her in the library at school. She took my hand and told me how much she liked me. I thought she was the most gorgeous girl I had ever met but I couldn't tell her. I was struck dumb. Needless to say that was the end of it.

The next girl I fell in love with was in the congregation different circumstances but similar outcome.

With God I was raised a Witness regardless of the boring meeting and awful assemblies I always had a love for God.

In the article it appears if i'm not mistaken that Mr. Morris entered a Kingdom Hall at 21years of age in February 1971 was baptised that summer at the district convention and married by December. For some reason the poem Soloman Grundy flashed across my mind.

I find his story interesting in regard to the comments that LondoIII provided

If Watchtower can use a non-sequitur to say that Jesus now knows the day and the hour, despite Matthew 24:36 ....

what do you think would have happened to you?

no jehovahs-witness.com, no john cedars, no arc, no jwfacts.com and no crisis of conscience to fall back on.

My leaving had nothing to do with the internet as I didn't have it or Crisis of Conscience that I read after or other ex-witnesses. I only read the bible and witness literature.
