The Elders are coming over

after seven years we finally got a call from an elder this morning.

he wants to come over and talk to steve (he wouldn't talk to me or give me any message).

this particular elder was from steve's old congregation in austin, texas.

It's 2 AM...and Im soooo sad

its just not supposed to be like this.

i just put my jw husband on a plane to san fran so he can spend the entire holiday week out there, get this, dog sitting his nonjw brothers shitzus while he goes to visit family for christmas.

i told him i was going to miss him...and he replied, well "i wont miss christmas".

Silent Lambs/Bill Bowen..Who rejoices now?

having read the exchanges between rev, bill bowen, and others involved in the silent lambs website, i honestly feel sickened.

i remember when i first started to hear rumblings that "something big" was going down regarding the society's handling of child abuse.

i was overjoyed because i had first-hand knowledge of several atrocities in this regard and was hoping against all odds that a major upset would force them to change their policies.

Who said anything about "replacing" BB?? I think all anyone wants is for him to change his abusive attitude toward others, thats all. The man does NOT have to act like "MR Almighty Elder" and demand total control like he did while he was in the WT Society. His biggest problem is that he still has the JW Elder mindset. That mindset will not accomplish the goal of helping the cause of SL. It will only serve to destroy it.

My dilemma

i have been associated with the jws all my life, recently turning 50 years old.

i was a true believer, a hard working elder, very zealous for the truth, a pillar in the congregation, and a fine speaker and teacher.

i even served in an extremely difficult foreign land for a while with my family.. i always knew we had our problems, but felt that it was my responsibility to effect change from within.

My suggestion is to stay in just long enough to get your family out, then do the slow fade. That way you may still be able to get your extended family out. But only you can tell how much staying "in" bothers your conscience now that you know the real truth about the JW's.

My landlord is such a complete dork

if there are any real estate agents out there, or people who know about such matters, i would really appreciate some opinions.... if not, i could really use some plain old sympathy.

just 8 months ago, my mate & i moved over 1000 miles to a new state .

we found a house to rent.

I hear what you are saying about not liking strangers in your house. I had to go through that when I stayed at my Moms home that she was selling, while she went on vacation. Even though it was her home, I still had my stuff laying all over the house that I had to "hide" every time I went to work. Then drag it all out again when I gone back from work. UGH.

I rent, too, and I don't like surprize visits by the management either. They are supposed to give a 24 hr notice, but sometimes the caretakers do not deliver the notices until late that night, so I find it the same day as I'm leaving for work. I scream. I sometimes just keep my private locking system on anyway.

I might also add that I saw that posts WERE deleted from Bill's Guestbook earlier today. Your FIRST posting about what happened was deleted, so you re-posted it. THAT appearently is when Bill decides to dish-up more crap about you. The guy is just using "Theocratic Warfare" on you. Yup, Bill's still a "Watchtower Man" indeed.

Ask your brother Who and where the FDS was before CT Russell and the WTBS. Ask him to find something written by the FDS between the Bible and CT Russell. Then ask him how come Jehovah let so many years go by without a visable earthly organization to guide the faithful.

It has been my experience that they will only defer to this answer:

"But I can show you from the BIBLE" without ever realizing that they can't answer the question.

Where do I go for support???

i would love some support since i am scared and confused, but i don't know where to turn.

my husband and i are both having our eyes opened wide after years of doubts.

we have finally read the "apostate literature" over the past few weeks and have checked and rechecked their sources.

You also ask for suggestions on how you could begin to celebrate the holidays - why not try doing some holiday baking that matches your Cultural Heritage. For instance, Germans, Swedish, and Norwegians all have very distinct cookies and other backed holiday recipes. Search the internet for information and holiday recipes. Here are just a few I came up with.
