fairchild,
I may be wrong, but I seem to getting the impression that you are suffering needlessly from a lot of guilt and shame about things that have happened in the past. God will forgive you, no matter how big a sin it was. His forgiveness is unconditional. The love and caring that you feel at the Kingdom Hall is very conditional as you have just stated. The shunning that you have seen is NOT based on true love. It is a very condidtional love. God's love is UNconditional. His love never stops, even if you are very, very disobedient to his commands. He will never turn His back on you. He will still love you.
Most JW's have a difficult time separating God and the "Organization".
To the JW, disobedience to the "Organization" means that they have disobeyed God. This is not true. It IS possible to disobey the "Organization" and yet be in complete obedience to God. The reason this can be, is that "The Organization" is simply a man-made organization - meaning that men, not God, control it. You will understand this concept better after you have read some of the material that is on the web-sites that have been listed in this thread.

Worn down again....
by puff candy ini wanted to let you know that i told my mother i had found some information on the internet regarding jw,s.
i was then subjected to 2 odd hours on the phone about why apostates are so wrong and how these people are typist's for satan.
she put her husband on the phone too who went on a lot too....basically they wore me down and i ended the weakest again!

puff candy,
The way JW's 'wear people down' is by skipping from one subject, to subject, to subject, to subject, - I'm sure you get the picture!
Next time you talk with them, just limit your conversation to ONE topic. If they bring up another topic, just say something like this:
"I thought that we agreed to only discuss one topic at a time and I'm not through with XXXX topic yet." Then get back on the subject YOU want to talk about. Don't let them take the lead. YOU be the one to lead the discussion and let them follow you.
I know this will not be easy, but it is the only way to make them listen to YOUR viewpoint.

fairchild,
I doubt that you are alone in your 'secret sin'. Why not try typing a one or two word description into a search engine - like google - and see what comes up. You just might find out that you are not alone after all. A word of caution - be careful who you discuss this personal situation with over the internet. I want to be clear that I'm NOT saying you should share this information with others on the net.

when the end is nigh.. go borrow millions of dollars lol
by candidlynuts inmormons who banked on doomsday find the debt collector at the door does this sound familiar to any of you who were around in the 70s when jw's borrowed money they didnt think they'd ever have to repay?
http://news.independent.co.uk/low_res/story.jsp?story=591991&host=3&dir=70by david usborne11 december 2004. if the 9,000 members of a polygamous mormon sect in south-west utah felt comfortable borrowing from their local bank like there was no tomorrow, it was because, in their minds, that was precisely the case.
the world, they had been told, was coming to an end.. the fundamentalist church of jesus christ of latter-day saints gladly used high-interest funds to finance suspect business ventures.

Welcome to JWD lonelymom!
Many JW families have what they call "Family Day" in which they all
get together for a big meal and give gifts to each other.
It just is not held on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve.
To avoid all appearences maybe you could schedule it for sometime during January.
Another way to be able to spend time with your daughter and
grand-daugther (include the JW husband if you want to) would be to
invite them to a "Family-get-together" each month:
1. Plan a nice picnic with games and a bbq
2. Go to the Zoo
3. Go to the beach/pool
4. Go shopping - JW's love to shop!
5. Be creative
6. Have a "girls only party"
This link will give you general information regarding the teachings of the Watchtower Society.
