I can recall a few occasions where the DO joined the CO for a congregation visit. I had always assumed that is how they spent their down time.
As a side question, I always wondered what the wife of a DO does. Listing to the same CO week after week has to be painful. Do they have alternate plans?

After reading this post I can recall 5 or 6 ex elders who remained in the congregation. They were ex for several reasons, some were removed others "stepped down.' There was one who did not attend meetings after his eldership.
Not sure what everyone's status is now, I hope they are all still alive.

Creating a religion with people is a problem. Case in point the above. So, how do you create a relgion without people? When we say religion, we are really saying how do we create an organzation with all the tax benefits of a religion but without all the problems associated with individuals with a less than perfect social structure
Once you add the element of people (usually elders or others with authority) the risk increases to the organization. And these individual problems create problems for the "organization." But how do you have an organization without people?
we had an elder that regularly drank wine and other cocktails.
he would come to night meetings, including elder meetings, shall we say, "feeling good".. we had an elder that was losing it and failing because of old age/dementia.
i knew a lot of elder's wives that were on meds in order to function but i wasn't aware of elders under the influence of drugs.

The issue with chewing gum is that gum in carpets and chairs is a real pain for the cleaning crew. I never chew gum and never disagreed with the rule not to chew gum. At least they don't fine you like they do in Singapore for chewing gum.

i was just reading through genesis yesterday, and it really hit me.
Here is what I remember from my years in watchtower land. Eve could not possibly be pregnant at the time of eating the fruit, otherwise she would have a perfect child. Therefore, the eating of the fruit had to occur within the first few days of Eve's menstrual cycle. Because we all know that Adam was a horny beast.

But this is not the big question. The big question is how long after Adam was created did he decide that he needed a mate? This specific unknown fact is critical to identifying how long after 1975 will be the 6000 years of human creation.
