Most of the hits to the jw.org site are from apostates. I am guilty of going to the site a few times. In any event, I think all this is in line with the end being very close. I suggest that no one buys any green banannas. There is not enough time before the end begins...

Have you ever been called for Jury Duty? before or after registering to vote?
by EndofMysteries ini've never been called for jury duty and i'm not yet registered to vote, although i'm hoping to get that done this month.
i know someone who within a few months of registering to vote was called for jury duty.
i've read some articles that said voter records 'used' to be used to call on people but that was a thing of the past.

I was called several times. In once instance I was part of a jury. It was a very interesting process. BTW, when I lived in Brooklyn Heights, Bethelites loved to get called to jury duty. The got paid more than their Bethel stipend and the work was far less laborious.

Why Do Witnesses Promote A Unhealthy Lifestyle, My COBE weighs 340lbs (5ft 7in).
by BucketShopBill inplease don't take this the wrong way if your battling weight problems, that's not what this thread is meant to talk about.
i am asking this question because jehovah's witnesses claim they have "the best way of life", "god's blessing", "the truth" and are trying to change the habits of healthy people by turning them in to their own makings.
i watched people who were great athletes turn all their muscle in to fat because we would get a elder or circuit overseer make remarks they were spending too much time "working out" and "bodily training is beneficial for little".

When a person gives up on life and relies on a cult to define the future the only thing left is sex and food... Sorry about that, the only thing left is food. No sex for you.... Food and alcohol is the only thing to give any joy. Both of which have a high caloric content and no sex to burn the calories.
When I was "in" I drank in excess, food was not the problem, just alcohol and it was clearly in excess.
I still enjoy a glass of wine ( or two or three), but my current intake is nothing to compare with my watchtower days. Ah, the good old days...

Born In JWs: Were You Abused According to the CDC?
by ABibleStudent inchild abuse in the usa.
child abuse is the physical, sexual or emotional maltreatment or neglect of a child or children.
in the united states, the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc) and the department for children and families (dcf) define child maltreatment as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child.

I was born in to the jw faith. I was never sexually abused. I was never neglected. I was taught very scary things that impacted my life. The JW religion is a fuc?*ng cult that had a significant negative impact on me being able to reach my potential.
But based upon the framework of the CDC I cannot say that my life meets the standards of abuse.

So, the basic question of who is the king of the north has not been answered. Did I miss something? That seems to be a basic question that shoud be quite important to the discussion.

Yup, pretty funny. It would have been funnier if it was a pig, which is why I know this is not from Indiana.

I now have a law degree!
by digderidoo inhi guys, i don't really post on here much anymore, having been on here since 2001. this site helped me out in the early days and has been a great support system for all of my past jw issues.
like many others i was discouraged from an education so that i could window clean and pioneer in my youth during the 80's.
having spent many years post my jw exit in alcoholism and periods of drugs, i decided to clean myself up 7 years ago by attending aa, i was still a window cleaner ... at the time i wrote extensively on here about my issues.

Congratulations digderidoo.
Education is a wonderful thing. Education can transform lives, and that is great for you as well as the lives that you touch.
But (and there is always a but), your degree, while a worthy goal, only gets you to the starting point of the rest of your life. I wish you the best and know that you can obtain fullfillment beyond your dreams. So, now you are at the starting point, and you need to ask is where do I go from here?
Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I think that it is a bit arrogant to think that of all of human history that some believe theirs to be the chosen generation where all these prophesies line up for fulfillment.
What is so special about this time?

It's All About Tablets
by metatron inwell, that seems to be the latest hot thing amoung witnesses.
everybody buys a tablet.
even the poor families that eat carb heavy meals are gettin' em.. maybe they can't afford the latest apple product like the maxi/mini pad or whatever they're calling it these days so a trip to ebay or overstock.com fills the bill.. use it instead of a songbook.

The meetings would be so much more fun with an iPad.
