I was involved in one quick build and worked garbage detail. I usually tried to avoid most of these events. But I got recruited for that one day.

disfellowshiped meeting
by desy2477 inwhen i for my hearing where i had to tell the elders what i had been up to, they asked real personal questions such as where did you do it?, did you go down on him?, were you drunk?, and the big one did you use any toys or vegetables as sex tools?
now i don't know about everyone elses disfellowshiping meetings but did this happen for you?.

During my three years as an elder, I only had to participate in one judicial meeting with a young sister who got involved with a man. While the questions did not go to the depth you describe, it was very embarrassing for the sister. I was also very uncomfortable with the meeting and tried to direct the conversation away from the details of the encounter.
However, there is someting even more distrubing that you may not realize. An elder from the judicial meeting is responsible for writing a detailed report and sending it to the Society. When I read the letter that an elder wrote about the judicial meeting I was involved in, I could not believe the unnecessary level of titillating detail. It read like something out of Penthouse. I have no idea who in Bethel reads those letters, but the fact that they have so many of these letters is disturbing.

Blondie, For the past four Sundays I was able to create "legitimate" reasons for missing the talk and Wt study. Without any divine intervention, my luck has run out and I will have to attend this Sunday. With your gracious assistance, I will be able to pay attention and possibly even learn something.
As always, Blondie You have done it again. Thanks!

This board means more than you think.....

Ascot and Mulan. Thanks for understanding the significance of my statement. I am happy that I have reached this point in my development as a person seperate from an organization. If someone would have told me 10 years ago where I am today, I would not have believed them.

Islam's Ugly Assault on Beauty
by NewYork44M inan interesting column from the ayn rand institute concerning the recent world beauty contest in nigeria.. http://www.aynrand.org/medialink/columns/rt112702.shtml.
one paragraph stood out:.
"but the most revealing element of this islamic attack was a slogan chanted by rioters: "down with beauty.

I think the key word in the article is "fanatics." The article was not making a broad stroke of all Muslims. I know several Muslims and consider them to be "very" peace loving. They were as shaken over the events of 911 as the rest of us. However, lest us not forget, there are fanatics that will manipulate words to their own ends.

An interesting column from the Ayn Rand institute concerning the recent World beauty contest in Nigeria.
http://www.aynrand.org/medialink/columns/rt112702.shtml
One paragraph stood out:
"But the most revealing element of this Islamic attack was a slogan chanted by rioters: "Down with Beauty." This is the key to the whole outlook of Islam: an attack on any enjoyment of life in this world, even the aesthetic enjoyment of contemplating beauty. If you want young men to die for Allah the explicit goal of the fanatics then you can't let them catch even a glimpse of the values they are leaving behind."
The statement reminded me of the many things that we were deprived of. Most of these things were not intrinsically bad, but the organization feared them because they revealed the beauty that was missing from our own beliefs.

Interesting discussion. One of the things I discovered about myself during my transition from being a faithful witness to my current status is that I am not now, nor ever was, a spiritual person. In the past mistook obedience to an organization for spirituality. But reflecting back on my live now, I was always very uncomfortable with express my beliefs in spiritual terms.
Thus to answer your question, No, I do not read the bible. Although my belief in God remains, we just arent on speaking terms. I ignore all discussion theads on the trinity, H.S, and etc. Because - I just don't care.
