This is a story that would have to be validated before I would believe it. This is not something Bloomberg would agree to. Several years ago he even cut the lights of on the Brooklyn Bridge to save money.

So who went out in field service on Christmas?
by mavie inmy congregation would have a special service day on all holidays, including christmas.
in order to avoid knocking to early on homeowners doors we would meet at 10am instead of 9:30am.
we would always have the hardcore group ready ard raring to go on dec 25th.

One More Reason Not to Book Hotel on WT List
by WTWizard inalthough i don't know this as a fact, i suspect that the wts is negotiating some pretty lucrative rebates from these hotels (which of course the rank and file jw pays) because they can guarantee a full house at $xxx per night.
this came from last year's thread about the rooming department km insert, and will almost certainly apply this year.
but, when the watchtower society negotiates with hotels, they are not having difficulties negotiating just for the price that you, the attendee, pay.

You book a room and make payment to the wbts.
This may happen in some lands. I don't ever recall making payments directly to the society. The only exception is when the society has a tour group. But then they act as the travel agent.

Can U Stop The Elders From Having A Judicial Committee Against You?
by minimus ini don't think so.
i believe that if they decide to have it, there's nothing legallyspeaking, that you can do to thwart it.. what's your opinion??
?.

My guess is that if you threaten with legal action against each elder individually, the meeting may not go away, but there will be no public announcement afterwards.

I remember one year we booked directly with the hotel and got the room 10 cheaper than the wt rates. Plus they gave us free breakfast.
When we went to Cleveland for the assemblies the only hotels on the list were the cheap Motel 6 type places. I always booked "off the list" hotels.

Field ministry blooper reel:
by Awakened07 in-did you ever stuff up your presentation while going door-to-door?.
i remember one beautiful summer day, me and my 'partner' were slowly approaching a man working in his garden.
it was warm, it was sunny, it was beautiful, it was peaceful and quiet - you might say it was "paradise".

I have gone to the door, made my presentation, and reached into my bag only to find that it was empty.

The Ministerial Training "School(??)" Scam
by WTWizard init is for single men only.
to get in, you have to be a hounder or an assistant (ministerial servant).
it is called the ministerial training school.. what exactly is this?

I have encountered some of these "trained" MS. They have a difficult, if not impossible, task. Besides all the issues associated with the society, they have to encounter local congregation politics.
Many congregations are set up as "good ol' boy" networks where the elders are long-time friends and/or family members. Here an outsider comes in to clean up. He is usually branded "overzealous" and an odball. He does not even have the statute of an elder. The local body can and many times make his life hell.

I would never get a tattoo. Primarily because I am in a very conservative occupation.
Has anyone every been turned down for a job because of a tattoo? I would think long a hard before hiring someone with a large tattoo that would be preceived as being rebellious.
