Did anyone go and get a tattoo after you left, either because you really wanted too or because you just wanted to rebel.
I got one done about a year afterwards. It's a black widow: I've got another 3 lined up.

I got my first tat 2 weeks before I left home (while I was still "in") as somewhat of a "fuck you" to the dubs, my family and the area in general (already had things dialed in for my move to Oregon). While it wasn't the right reason to get a tattoo (in my opinion), that piece has had more meaning over the years and I have no regrets over getting it. Since then I have gotten 2 more and am working on my 4th piece currently. The fourth piece is a partial cover up of the original as it has served it's time and I'm ready to move on and make it something more beautiful (symbolic of where I was and how far I have come since).
I don't have a good pic of my first one, but here's the current work. You can see the old barbed wire peaking out the top of my boot.
I got my tattoos while I was in. The few JW's who I still speak to still bring it up. My usual response is "hasn't anything interesting happened in your life in the last 10 years?" "why is this still a topic of discussion for you?"
Well, my younger son keeps talking about having a tattoo - and Claire and I keep having to talk him out of it!
The point is, I've read much about how people regret having it done in later years and go through laser treatment to get rid of them. I'm not against tattoos - in moderation and providing they are attractively and artistically tasteful - but Dominic is only 17 (nearly 18) and I feel he could regret it in later life. When he's older he can choose from, hopefully, a mature head and Claire and I certainly wouldn't interfere.

I got my first tat about a year before I was df'd. It was right before the district convention. You would have thought I had murdered someone, the way people were reacting to me. It's a butterfly on my left ankle for god's sake!
I've been out for 6 years now. I got my second tat on my lower back about a month ago. It's symbolic for me for surviving breast cancer.
I've got another tat lined up for next month, and then I'll be done unless the urge hits me again!
babygirl....
I'll be done unless the urge hits me again!
Believe me it will
Bigwilly...I'd love to see another pic once you get that one finished. Looks like you'll have a lot of hours put into it! Got any pic's of your other tat's??
I agree ...
I'll be done unless the urge hits me again!Believe me it will
Whats up with that? wanting to be tattoed after we are happy with the ones we have?
I hope I never regret my tats, one thing I have noticed about people that don't like theres "later on" it's usually tied to something the person is into in life at the time, albeit a person ie.. a name of a "love" that years from now is no longer the love of there life and the current love hates the reminder, and reminds the tated one they don't have their name tatted on them anywhere!! heck I've known people if they got all their "mr.right nows tatted on them they would look like santas whos who on the naughty and nice list.
I begged for a tattoo when I discovered my oldest brothers when I was a kid. so mine was the result of rebellion to the borg. / always wanting one/ and mid-life crisis. everything hit me at 38 to 40 yrs of age.
I never had the slightest interest in getting a tattoo.
