Getting bariatric surgery in March!
by marmot inafter being on a waiting list for three and a half years i've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and am going under the knife for a gastric sleeve operation in march.
i can't tell you how pumped i am because i'll finally be able to re-take my life after being severely overweight for several years.
i gained a ton of weight after being put on meds for bipolar disorder and it made exercising a painful chore.

What's The Worst Scandal You Know Regarding Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus in.....whether it be in the congregation or from "headquarters"?

At this point I think it is the significant number of cases where elders abused their power - usually in a sexual way against innocent children.
The elders are the Achillies heel of the Watchtower. There are more than a few time bombs ticking away....
I also suspect that at some point a significant financial scandal will erupt. That might be fun.

Thoughts After Saturday Morning Service
by lambsbottom inwent out with a good friend in service this morning.
my spouse and kiddos joined us.
me and my spouse are awake jws, have gotten over the initial shock and disgust with some of the lame wt doctrine, and are determined to let god direct us wherever he may (even to another church - i'm going to a baptist service tommorow).. we have fun doing a little bit of service with the kiddos, letting them watch deer, play with sticks, and write not-at-homes down.

You have a great attitude. I remember going out in service after I learned TTATT. For me it was the most dreadful experience ever imagined. I still have nightmares.

My Son has had two very big University interviews
by CaptainSchmideo inone for mit last month, and one for princeton tonight.. if i told this to people at my old hall, i am sure the reaction would be the same as if i broke a big, noisy windblast in front of them.. but i have to brag about it to someone, so, i will do it here.. .
we will not know anything about whether he is going to be accepted for a couple of months yet, but, as they say, this $%^# just got real!.

Anthony Morris and Disneyland "the Magic Kingdom"
by trujw inin his talk the turd said disneland is ok cause he took his kids there.
isn't disneyland known as "the magic kingdom" why in the world is it ok to go to a magic kingdom of fantasy and make believe with wizards but a kid playing with a stupid wizard toy makes jehovah sad.
how can the turd be ok with thousands of magical toys and rides but at the exact same time tell them to throw those same toys in the trash.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious hypocrisy. Magic is magic even in the magic kingdom and as the little boy learned, jehovah hates magic.

The Watchtower could have gone many directions throughout its history. It would have been nice to be associated with an organization that changed the world. Education is one of the ways to change the world. I firmly believe that.
Unfortunately, the wt was and is so fearful of everything that it could never conceive expanding beyond its own cult culture.

Rotary, Lions Club & Kiwanis, etc
by 4thgen inlike so many have said on this site, it is hard to begin again and make new friends.
this has been a real challenge for me.
i recently joined a local rotary club and have become acquainted with some very dedicated business people (some retired), wanting to be of service to others.

What do Baptists believe?
by quellycatface ini'm thinking about going to church again because i'm really interested in god (today)!!.
sometimes i'm so confused and feel like there is no god, other days i do and want to try and get to know him.. i guess i'm scared because of all the bs that went on in the kh.. there is a local baptist church near me that seems nice.
i'm in the uk.

I have worked with Baptists. The one take away from the experience was that they took their religious faith really seriously.
They cleary believed that they were right and had the true faith.

I have done meet-ups in NYC. This group was quite active. But with the activities of live in our way we have not met for quite a while. Althought I understand there was a group attending the "Truth be Told" movie last week. It was too cold for me to leave home.
If any one is in NYC, let me know. Perhaps we can get together.
