being a jw makes one feel special, no doubt.
when i found out ttatt i realized i'm not special at all.
i'm just one of the other 7 billion human beings who will live and die being nobody, the world will forget about them (and i'm not talking about relatives and friend), they didn't make anything special in their life, they didn't change the course of history, were not famous nor rich, didn't invent facebook, google or anything awesome, didn't have an article published in newscientist, had no imdb profil, not even a wiki page, didn't write a book etc.
My sense of being special as a witness was not something I was proud of. It was a burden.
Now that I am out, I actually consider myself special - in a good way. I believe that the things I am doing will have a positive impact on the lives of others both now and into the future. I am trying to build a legacy to my life, which is something I could never hope for as a witness.
i was raised with this belief, that we would never die and actually make it into the "new system".
mu faithful jw aunt still talked about my mother (her sister) and her walking together into the great tribulation--- and never die at all!
she spoke of that 2 days before she passed away.. i believe most witnesses expect to die and then get resurrected.
The oldtimes stay because they have too much invested and not enough time to develop options. I think if I would have stuck around 5 years longer, I would be in the same place.
I feel for these folks, but I don't really have anything to offer.
just heard this at the meeting last night - km school for elders only to be held between november 11th and january 11th.
it will be one day (8 hours) and will likely be an update on the new org.
changes being fired out, likely judicial in nature also..
keeping up with the chariot is exausting. So many new things. I am confident that those on this board will know the content of the meeting long before the actual meeting.
we attended several different congregations in different states, and the one common thread among them all was...if you had your study article highlighted, you were a good jw.. honestly, how often did you cover over your magazine when the attendant walked by handing out copies to visitors?.

the watchtower is all about judgment. If you don't have sufficient markings, including margin notes, you are judged to be weak.
I always went through the process of "underlining" just so I would not be judged. My margin notes were what I wanted to eat for lunch.
i was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.

this watchtower study article yesterday was so encouraging.

on the contrary, when we have discovered that our beliefs were not completely in line with the bible, we have changed our beliefs.. is this correct?.

I would start off with asking why the inserted text in brackets "[ ]" and why the kept the words but removed the brackets in the new edition.
with further study and meditation , the holy spirit has guided the governing body to the evident reality that the year 1914 was a symbolic enthronement of jesus christ to his heavenly kingship .

I didn't see the word "evidently" in there...thus it's fake!
Another good term that shows that the HS is blessing this change is "it is reasonable to conclude..."
But, given that neither phrase showed up evidently it is reasonable to conclude, that this is a fake announcement.
i have always wondered how jws believe about "post-armaggeddon" earth.
question#1 how will jws survivors bury all of the dead bodies.
with about 4 billion people on earth today how can 8 million jw(1/2 of them children and babies) bury all of those dead bodies?
I was with an elder once at a sheparding call. He read the scripture about no more pain and said to the family: "imagine touching a stove and not feeling any pain...blah blah blah... how wonderful."
I said in front of the group - "but that does not make any sense, our pain mechanism is there to protect us. If we don't have any pain our hand will burn off."
Well, needless to say this call did not go well.
