Thanks for the laugh.
I saw this one and thought it was good.

One bright, beautiful Sunday morning, everyone in the

tiny town of Johnstown got up early and went to the

local church. When the services started, the towns

people were sitting in their pews and talking about

their lives, their families,etc. Suddenly, Satan

appeared at the front of the church. Everyone started

screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling

each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil

incarnate. Soon everyone was evacuated from the

Church, except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly

in his pew, not moving. . . seemingly oblivious to the

fact that God's ultimate enemy was in his presence.

Now this confused Satan a bit, so he walked up to the

man and said,

"Don't you know who I am?"

The man replied, "Yep, sure do."

Satan asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Nope, sure ain't," said the man.

Satan was a little perturbed at this and queried,

"Why aren't you afraid of me?"

The man calmly replied, "Been married to your sister

for over 48 years".

I agree with you expatbrit.
There are many good people out in the world that show love and compassion to their fellow man and child.
The WTS wants all JWs to be convinced that anyone that is not a JW is evil and will soon be destroyed.
I guess it makes it easier to control people that way.
When I read stories like this, I can't help but think of Jesus' parable of the good samaritan.
The WTS certainly fits into the picture of being like the pharisies.
Which one did Jesus approve of?

How openminded are you now?

judgemental and closeminded were exact descriptions of my former jw self.. recently on another forum, someone posted a cartoon depicting the character urinating on the bible.

i had an immediate revulsion and concluded this was not appropriate, letting the poster know my thoughts.

other's on the forum did not see it as i did.

Openminded: Free from prejudiced conclusions.; amenable to reason; receptive.

Does being openminded mean that we have to accept something that is insulting to us?
I believe along with being openminded one must be responsible enough to distingquish between something that is hurtful and insulting and something that is a difference of opinion.

The line must be drawn on this.
So someone will ask,who has the right to draw the line and where will it be drawn?
That's where maturity and common sense comes in.
Before we claim that someone is closedminded because they will not accept what we say and do, We should ask ourselves,is what I'm saying or doing hurtful and insulting?
If it is, we are not being openminded but are being insulting.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Newbie With Questions

hi, i just found this board yesterday.. i have a question or two.. for one i am sorry if this is not where i should post this.. if it is not please direct me where to go .. 1st question... is this for current witnesses or ex witnesses?

i havent been to the kingdom hall for almost 2 years.. i was directed here by someone who said it was for ex witnesses.. but the front page looks like it is for witnesses to have bible studies.. and such.. which is not what i am looking for i did that for 14 years.. till i got married had 2 kids and finally got a life now at the age of 24.

2nd... can you tell me which board on here a newbie like me can post their experinces and such.
