I Can`t Get To Grips With This FDS Thing.

i`m trying to understand the process by which jw`s link the "faithful and discreet slave" parable to a belief that this refers to a number of people who will go to heaven ie: 144,000.. also, i am trying to understand how, by extension, some of this number comprise a "governing body" that is at the top of "jehovahs earthly organisation".. i really dont understand how these conclusions are reached and would appreciate some input.

please note that when i posted this question on h20 some months ago i received only 1 reply from friday, who saw fit to ridicule me for my lack of knowledge on this subject.

i still don`t know the answer!

depression and why JW's don't reconize it

well as you know unless you are an elders son or daughter generally jw's don't lift a finger to help all those ones feeling downtrodden and lonely.

i felt like this from july 1994 to march 2000. i prayed to jehovah constantly for help to ease the loneliness, i begged the elders and even others.

for a long time the only ones who would talk to me where the elderly ones(who i miss now since i left) i cried every night and felt after five years of being at meetings and feeling invisable (even though i was an auxillary pioneer) i decided that my life was worth fighting for.

Simon brought out a good point when he said that it doesn't do any good to be told
you're one of happiest people in the world,especially when you're not.
I think hearing that constantly leads people to become more depressed.
And of course the WTS remedy for people feeling down is to put in more field service,
attend more meetings.
But if you're already doing those things and you're still depressed then what?
Then it's time to step back and take a look at your life without the aid of the WTS
to see if you can figure it out.

memorial: how do you feel?

this question is mostly for those of you who still believe in the bible to some extent.

my mother-in-law called the other day to see if rileygurl and i were going to the memorial this year.

we told her that we wouldn't be attending.

Hi All,
I agree with the points brought out here.
Jesus said Do this in memory of me.
I looked and I looked and I can find no where in the Bible where Jesus said Only 144,000 should do this in memory of me.
The way the WTS celebrates the Memmorial seems to put as much focus on 144,000 if not more than on Jesus.
