do all of you ex-jehovah's witnesses get upset when you are called an apostate?
you all call each other apostates, so why should you all get upset if i call you apostates?
if you don't like being called 'apostate', what title would you prefer?

HAHAHA........NO it doesn't.
Most of the people that use that word as an
insult don't even know what it means.
Look in the dictionary for the meaning of it.
It means anyone that changes his/her belief in something.
So those that left another religion to become a JW are an apostate.

there was a middle-aged woman in our kingdom hall who was a long time pioneer.
she was a very warm and loving woman and so when she announced her plans for a family vacation one year some of us got together and took up a little collection so that she would have some extra money to spend.
after all, she was working hard for jehovah and werent we supposed to show our appreciation?.
DakotaRed says: "Last I heard, one of the ten commandments is, "Thou shalt not steal." Her keeping the money was defintely stealing."
How we forget that the WTS have changed the comandments somewhat.
Don't forget how they view lieing.
It's ok to lie to someone not deserving the truth.

some time ago i learned of the un affair & saw the truth...i am fading away now so i have not been attending meetings regularly for some time, specially the book study.
two days ago, i learned that a letter was read in my book study regarding personal attire, and it was said that one should not grow a beard (this letter was not read in any of the other book studies).
they say you are not a good christian, you are not spiritual, if you grow a beard.

Why do you think the WTS is spiritual Isreal?
What proof have they given to give claim to such a title?
If they can be spiritual Isreal, then certainly other religions can claim the same.

i've read lots of the threads over the past months, and think i understand the board's "makeup" of people (and please correct me if i'm wrong).
if i'm right, i might have a hard time relating to what the rest of you have gone through.. i became a jw in 1979 or so, and spent more time studying to be one than being one.
i was df'ed a short time later, briefly went through an effort to rejoin, and called it off when my first child was born.

Welcome to the board.
You don't need to feel out of tune here.
On this board we have people that were in the org. most of their lives,
some that were in it for a much shorter time, some that were born into it,
and some that chose it as well as some that only studied and we actually have some that are only slightly interested in the subject of JW's.
I think that about covers everyone.
The one thing most have in common is the fact we thought the WTS was the 'TRUTH'.

i posted a question before regarding the way jws go door to door.
[luke 10:7.23] and remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide,for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house.
if the apostles didn't do it and jesus said not to, why do the jws do it en masse?
Even tho there are no commands in the Bible to preach house to house, we thought we knew why we did it. Right?
We thought we were spreading Gods word to the world.
However, looking back at it, we can see that we were not spreading Gods Word, we were spreading the WTS word.
The main emphasis was not to get the householder to listen to Gods Word, but to listen to what the WTS had to say about it.
That is why the Bible study at peoples homes consisted mostly of WT publications.
Sure there were scriptures thrown in to make it seem that we were having a Bible study, when in fact we were studying the WT interpertations of the scriptures.

i have been disfellowshipped for 2 weeks.
my story the shortened version.. i left the organisation 2years 2 months ago.
i live 25 miles from the kingdom hall that i attended for 29 years, man and boy.
Does this mean that I can get booted out because I declined an invitation to meet
with the elders for a chit chat?

i read a comment by belbab on hillary's post this morning...he remarked that he had asked a question after the 09/11 attack, that no one answered.
well, i didn't even remember reading it, so i did a simple search.
I don't respond to flame posts.
To me, they're a complete waste of time.
There's something about arguing with a computer that
doesn't seem like too much fun.
I don't generally ignore certain posters.
It's just that there's only so much time in the day
to respond to all the posts.
