My Father has brandished me with the "APOSTATE" word for talking about the BIBLE!
by stuckinarut2 inso after three years of fading, my elder father has never really asked why we have chosen to stop attending.. today, after a mixed discussion, he starts talking about the "solution to all the world problems" and says "i don't know what you now believe, but i believe gods kingdom will fix everything" i let the comment go, and didn't respond.. then he goes on about the video "remember the wife of lot" because he just came from the convention last weekend.
"don't get caught up in this system...blah blah".
i couldn't help myself, and said one thing "dad, that video failed to show the next chapter of that account.

He Stucky - I know it's hard, have some pity though - his WHOLE life and future are based on the lies.
What is left when that is taken away especially when you are older and have made so many sacrifices?
It is very hard to let go. It is frightening.

Once you've proved the truth to yourself you don't need to keep trying to disprove it...
by cognisonance ini was told this during my judicial committee (some five years ago) when i brought up concerns i had with the "truth.
" in addition one of the elders (who was an engineer) said once you've accepted a proof of pythagorus' theorem you don't later start doubting that theorem.
i thought that argument was a weak analogy then.

THE WORST D.O. I have ever seen (and his horrible insulting wife also) gave a talk at an assembly and made a GIANT point about how "YOU CAN'T DISPROVE THE TRUTH"
All I thought about (besides wanting to punch him) was hmmm bet you can't Disprove Leperchauns or Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster.
Because if his talks and his wife's LONG interview where she counseled everyone, patted her self on the back often, and said Stephen Hawkings is stupid - it was the WORST ever!

Voyager 1 & 2 40th Anniversary of their Lift Off
by smiddy3 infourty years ago nasa sent two probes that were to go on a mission ,voyager 1 and voyager 2 in two trajectories through our solar system getting what information they could from the planets they passed close by.. 40 years later they surpassed all expectations and are still sending signals back to earth.. voyager 1 has actually gone into what is termed interstellar space that is it has exited our solar system free from the constraints of our own sun having travelled some 13 billion miles from earth.
voyager 2 which was on a different trajectory will soon itself leave our solar system and go into interstella space having travelled some 11 billion miles from earth so far.. both of these satellites/probes carry messages from the world of humans / governments to whoever might find it (alien life forms ) if they exist and find these probes.. my attention is drawn to the bible account of the tower of babel which really couldn`t have been that high seriously.and yet jehovah god felt threatened by what man could achieve if they had one universal language ?.
what must he be thinking now i wonder ?.

Ok - as an Elder I saw on a number of occasions - and was made to myself "ALTER" the experience of an INTERVIEW to make it what the CO wanted.
Literally changing something that actually happened and made people LIE about their OWN experiences.

The "circle" of the earth
by stillin ina fair bit of time was spent discussing the (one) scripture in the bible that "proves" that when the bible touches on scientific subjects, it is absolutely correct.
this was at the most recent clam meeting this past week.
from isaiah, the reference to the "circle" of the earth.

Ah - do you remember that the "bible" said Sampson dug honey out of a dead lion carcass and carried it across a desert area to give it to others to eat. (in his hands)
Why are some of you treating this like it is more than a BAD fairytale????

Every Circle I have ever made was FLAT - 1 dimensional.
Surely the Creator of LANGUAGE would have been LESS ambiguous (if there was such a being).
FYI - In the entire history the biblical Israelites, they NEVER discovered or invented ANYTHING.

Watchtower Ironically Warns It's Memeber About "Propaganda" - Watchtower July 2017
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-july-2017/propaganda-winning-battle-for-your-mind/.
in what is just the height of irony, watchtower warns us about propaganda, and accepting everything we hear/read.
yes, we should ignore those that try to stop us thinking critically as this watchtower article will now teach us.

Did you cant catch the DIRECT PROPAGANDA USED in that article?
WT writes on page 28: "Therefore, it is likely to be most effective if people ... are discouraged from thinking critically.
Ah! Their infamous use of ellipses (...) I wonder what pertinent info they omitted this time?
The quote is from page 78 of Media and Society In the Twentieth Century (you can access it on Amazon here, sign-in to see page 78) and in the newer edition, it's found on page 83 of "Media and Society Into the 21st Century: A Historical Introduction By Lyn Gorman, David McLean"
The full quote is:
"Therefore, it is likely to be most effective if people do not have access to multiple sources of informationand if they are discouraged from thinking critically. Michael Balfour has suggested that the "best touchstone for distinguishing propaganda from science is whether a plurality of sources of information and of interpretations is being discouraged or fostered."
The WT then goes on to say that JW's "need a source of trustworthy, reliable information to prevent the enemy from playing tricks with your mind. Jehovah has provided this."
Ironically, the entire article goes on to use the same propaganda methods they warned about:
- "do not let terror tactics weaken you"
- "shut your ears"
And these doozies:
"Your defense? Be determined to stick to Jehovah’s organization and loyally support the leadership he provides—no matter what imperfections may surface"
"Do not be “quickly shaken from your reason” when faced with what appear to be damaging attacks by apostates or other such deceivers of the mind—however plausible their charges may seem."

Need help with a reference dealing with the Generations and SPLAINE
by ttdtt inwhen originally explaining the "new generations" splaine used the example of joseph and his brothers.. he backed up the time difference between the original anointed, and the new ones by using what he said was a big age difference between the youngest "joseph" and his oldest brothers.. then more recently in a jw broadcast - he said that there was not a big age difference between joseph and his oldest brother.. can any one help me find both those, please?.
