I gave away the older books which are hard to find, the 1930's Rutherford era books as well as the Studies. Then I had a bonfire for all the post 1960's books; a very satisfying moment.

times have changed in several countries. At least, in Canada, I can tell you that 30 years ago, it wasn't rare for people to knock on your door for various reasons. As the years passed, this has become rare, even before covid
Good comment. I grew up in the US midwest rural areas, and with my dad an elder and my mom a very welcoming person, we had unannounced visitors just about every day. They'd stay for meals, or just to hang out and talk. It was kind of fun and cozy, and just a part of life. Such a thing is practically gone nowadays. The visiting-at-homes culture which made the JW door-to-door activity somewhat acceptable is no more, at least in the US. I agree with StephaneL that it is likely that the JW door-to-door will fade away.

In my opinion this post is simply creative writing, a work of fiction. The points could all be believable and realistic, but that doesn't mean the poster is a real person.
A few of the things which irk me about it:
The dated pictures attached are "proof conclusive" that this is for real.
Nothing of the sort. I had a special fulltime servant living in my basement last year who had intranet access. I could have had such screenshots just about any time if I had a reason or desire to do so.
No outside guests are allowed inside Bethel at this time.
Might be true, but totally irrelevant. Bethel intranet is accessed by any of the fulltime servants, many of whom are living elsewhere, like my basement.
which has been exaserbated by the restrictions
get a dictionary
sitting in on hundreds of meetings where decisions have been made
Doubt it, the vast majority of full time servants have their defined job which they do but are not making decisions as or sitting in on meetings as described
as well as all the "worldly" shit that goes on
No bethel elder, current or former would write such a thing

Preaching the Good News with Rising Gas Prices?
by truthlover123 ini fear this could put an end to travelling a territory due to rising prices- where i am located in canada, we are now paying $2.08 per liter .
now since there is 3.79 litres in one gallon that equates to $7.88 per gallon... .
how many in a car group will kick in?

Here in the US we have been spoiled for years with relatively low gasoline prices. Unfortunately in conjunction with that is a lack of mass transportation which is way behind anything in Europe. The culture requires everyone to have a car, or in most cases more than one, and drive everywhere. This year in my area (midwest US) gas prices have gone from about $3 to about $5 (which is cheaper than many parts of the country). I'm cutting back a lot on driving. If prices go to anything like $10 a gallon it would be devastating to a lot of people.

I don't know the context of this document, but I think it is directed at the literature counter at the KH rather than personal collections. In many KHs there are multiple congregations, several languages, and limited counter space. They are likely trying to slim down the stuff in inventory at the KH to save space and confusion. That's what I am reading into it anyway.

Thanks Atlantis!
Surely an interesting document. I am curious as to who compiled it. It seems to contain some material written by WT, but other material which isn't WT. In either case, it looks authentic.

Watchtower fined in Belgium
by Vanderhoven7 injehovah's witnesses in belgium have to pay €12k fine for shunning policy.
news.
you have probably heard of the trial going on in belgium about the shunning policy of jws.

It sounds like getting the conviction to stick will take having the right case, with firm evidence and all the details of the case just right.
JWs are certainly not the only organization to practice shunning, and each country has different laws and tolerance for such things. I'm not looking for a change in WT policy just yet.
What is most egregious in my opinion is that the WT pressures people to get baptized, some are young children. These ones grow up or have other life changes and decide they no longer believe. They are then disfellowshipped and shunned. It's just a matter of moving on with their lives, yet they are shunned for it. It's a ridiculous policy.

My personal thoughts on Ray Franz
by Terry inthe death of ray franz hit me harder than i would have thought.. i had to reflect for awhile....alone......and quietly.. .
after all, fine people die every day and some of them are indispensable, yet, we go on....don't we?.
but, ray franz was something that can only be described in the phrase sui generis (one of a kind).. my task was to ask myself what it was that made ray so singular, potent and admirable without a trace of scandal or ill will attached to his memory.. .

A couple of literature changes after and in response to Franz’s exit were:
rewrite of organization book
replace AID book with Insight volumes
release of the big green JW history book
baptism question wording change
