all elders just got letters about this new blood card system .
“language-coordinating congregations will receive separate parcel(s) containing the revised durable power of attorney for health care (dpa-e) for all congregation(s) in their literature group.“.
my questions are - why the revision and what has been revised?.

i am a pimo who has been lurking for a while and i hope to make new friends here.. for now, i would just like to highlight that this year marks 200 years since john aquila brown wrote that crazy book(let) of speculations that charles taze russell practically copy/pasted into his "studies in the scriptures" which eventually affected all of our lives in one way or another.. cheers.
chevelle.
Thanks for bringing up the subject of John Aquila Brown. No doubt the Adventist beliefs of William Miller, Charles Russell, and all the others would never have taken root without Brown.
I do think it has roots earlier than that. Not long ago I got a chance to look at a copy of Ussher's Chronology (reprinted in modern text) and it hit me that the time calculations of the Adventists were made possible by Ussher. It is a phenomenal book, wrong in places, but still quite an impressive book for one man to accomplish in the 1600's.
the jw org has removed certain verses from their nwt version, claiming usually that what is removed is not found in the oldest mss, that claim is fair enough, until you ask a simple question, this :.
" if you are going to remove interpolations from the bible, where do you stop?"..
the org.
i overheard my wife listening to '2023 governing body update #2, presented by kenneth cook jnr.
a few points i got from it.. new hour requirements.
quote "with the new hour requirements for pioneers, many us us can share in the pioneer work.
Funny as well how Jehovah seems to love mainly white men who speak English. There is just one token Black American on the body, the rest being white to the sore. For a religion that claims a presence in over 200 lands it is strange there are no Japanese, Asians, Black Africans, Indigenous Americans or Polynesians amongst 'God's special one'
Well stated.
One could add the obvious, no women at all.
How any organization can tolerate such a lack of diversity is a mystery.
mass shooting at a kingdom hall in hamburg, germany this evening.
at least 6 or 7 killed, dozens injured.
single shooter on the run, police doesn't rule out more shooters.
For one, I am in favor of the KHs having security at the doors nowadays. Likewise for all churches. It isn't just the JWs; it is a problem all across the spectrum, US and elsewhere. Guns easily obtained, fringe/extremist ideas accessible on the internet; lots of of angry and disenfranchised people out there. It's a societal problem that needs to be solved.

It sounds like a double - KH with two auditoriums, one on the ground floor and one on the second floor. I attended one such in Europe a few years ago.
Very tragic news
this book was published around 1990, but was never studied (to my knowledge).
does anyone know the reason why?.
I have always had a pet theory (each time I have ever tried to explain it, it has been shot down rather quickly), but here goes:
WT was trying to establish their WT representatives as 'ministers' (for draft purposes) and, for those going overseas, as 'missionaries'. To qualify as ministers or missionaries they need to have credentials, and to have completed a course of study equivalent to mainstream schools. Many governments require minister credentials to include study of 'all religions'. A lot of Christian schools fail in this regard in that they only teach their own specific faith's beliefs. So the 'minister training' of JWs and JW missionaries needed something in the course of study about all religions. Voila, they produce a textbook for study that is held (at the time) in every KH library and is 'studied' in the 'minister' training. It mattered little that it wasn't really studied or looked at much; the fact that it was published and in the library was enough.
most of what follows may be new to some but well established by scholarship for well over a hundred years.
anyone reading the genesis stories of creation and the flood are struck by the way two versions of the story have been literally stitched together.
the documentary hypothesis formalized this recognition by assigning names to the sources in genesis and exodus as, j,e,p and a redactor r. while there have been suggested refinements this basic model has stood.
The latest copy of BAR (Biblical Archaeology Review) came in the mail last week and an article about Egyptian roads got me thinking about the Red Sea tale. One of their major roads from the Nile Delta to the Levant was on a sort of peninsula that was reclaimed from the Mediterranean as the sea level went down. Makes me wonder if the Red Sea story is a memory of them travelling along such a road and escaping because of a rise in sea level due to tide, weather, or some other reason.
for the most of us, we have left the jws...and even though we are no longer jw, many of us are still interested in their beliefs, doctrines and practices as currently practiced.
i was trying to sort out in my mind why i still care about what they are doing.
i think the answer to that is a hope that something will develop in the jws that will wake up a lot of others, and selfishly, a lot of my friends.
It's kind of like watching a train wreck as it happens.
uncle b is seeking a scan of this booklet: https://truthhistory.blogspot.com/2023/02/we-need-clear-scan-of-this.html.
can you help?.
.
It's curious it says Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society Toronto Canada. I wonder if it was only in Canada.
I've personally never seen this publication or heard of it.
