God won't lift a finger to help you.
by nicolaou insea breeze: @nicolau,i stated my case rather succiently, which you failed to address.
if you have a better solution to the problem of evil than what jesus offers, then why don't you present that in a new topic?.
pathetic diversion.

Jehovah’s Witnesses or Jesus Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 inkeith writes.
you have just touched on a flawed doctrinal belief that is foundational to false religion.. first, it is important to understand what false religion means when they call themselves jehovah’s witnesses.
by this, they declare themselves to be “witnesses of the father” despite the fact that jehovah is not the name of god at all, but a concoction of human origin from the dark ages.. here is the flaw:.

Vanderhoven: Is it even possible for ANYONE to be a witness of the Father? The answer to that from the Bible is No!
Jesus said to Philip "He who has seen me has seen the Father"

Alien: Romulus
by nicolaou ini never start topics like this normally but this has really wound me up.
romulus is getting great reviews and i just don't understand it.
it was predictable, formulaic fanfiction.. it brought nothing new, quite the opposite in fact.

It brought nothing new, quite the opposite in fact. The first four movies gave us Ripley's arc, Prometheus and Covenant would have brought us full circle with a more cerebral development of the central themes and origins of the whole story.
For 60 year olds like me who watched Alien in the cinema as a stunned teenager in 1979 that was so rewarding but now we've been robbed of the final prequel because audiences with modern attention spans can't handle 10 minutes without an action scene.
Romulus sucked.

What if JWs voted in elections?
by Las Malvinas son Argentinas inall this political banter is exhausting, so i want to ask a question that has probably been asked before, so here it goes….
let’s try to keep this non-partisan - just give your opinion and why you think that way.. i’ll go first.
i think jws would generally lean to the right, but not by a whole lot.

We also discussed the stupidity of believing caring for sick and elderly is communism. Everyone knows there is no way to make money insuring the sick and elderly, and that a civilized society must share that burden knowing our turn is coming.
Ever read something you wish you'd written yourself? This was perfect from you and your Dad peacefulpete 👍

Thought For the Day - for PIMI JW's
by BoogerMan inwhich name does the evil faithful slave's literature demand that you focus on - jehovah or jesus?.
do jesus & the bible agree with the org's obsession with the name 'jehovah', or was jesus just being presumptuous?
(matthew 10:22) and you will be objects of hatred by all people on account and whoever receives one such young child on the basis of my name receives me.... (matthew 18:20) for where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there i am in their midst.”.

JWlite can be the purple pill
by Teddnzo ini really like the red pill analogy in the matrix.
the one guy wishes he didn’t take the red pill and would have preferred to take the blue pill.. many used to be pimi which is the blue pill and then they wake up to the fact that the gb are not who they claim to be which is taking the red pill.. they go through conflict and confusion as to what to believe now?
does god exist?

What a sad and disheartening perspective. You're actually endorsing a life of hypocrisy.

LET'S HELP JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TO LOVE APOSTATES
by Terry insimple application of logic to scripture interpretation:.
if two terms mean the same thing it should not change the meaning to exchange one word for the other.. first, jesus lays the foundation for us.
let us read.. luke 6:27-37 "but i say to you who are listening, continue to love your enemies , to do good to those hating you, to bless those cursing you, to pray for those who are insulting you.

Fundamentalist Christians often behave the same way towards atheists. They'll mock, insult, make false accusations and refuse to actually engage with the debate.
There are plenty of them in this forum, even in this topic.

Down sixteen from this morning. I almost didn't want to post this just because it'll resurrect the thread and frankly it's nice not being reminded of El Slobbo on a daily basis. But good news is good news right? 😉

@ Sea Breeze
You asked me the same question in the previous topic where this conversation started, I answered it in my opening post in this topic. Maybe you missed it but what I said was; "Societies of all faiths and none have developed systems of justice for millennia. None of them are perfect but humanity does try."So Sea Breeze, what exactly IS the solution to evil that Jesus offers? Be specific.

When the boomers and genX'ers are all gone this wretched religion will be totally unrecognisable from anything we remember.
The change is almost complete even now with in-person meeting attendance not mandatory, book study abandoned, field service reporting dropped, dress and grooming standards lowered, shunning softened and the list goes on.
The final changes will be doctrinal and it's only the oldies that even remotely care about that. When they're out of the way doctrines won't just be simplified, they'll become irrelevant.
Jehovah's Witnesses used to stand for something. Sad really.
