Yes, but then I was warned that my knuckles would become big and ugly-so I quit. It was hard, but I just quit cold-turkey.

it's an addiction that i have tried to stop since i was a young boy.
my friends and loved ones have tried to encourage me to quit, but i just can't.
when i used to attend meetings, i would feed my addiction right there in the kingdom hall.

this is just a thread to post your stories about people in your lives and the stupid things they've done.. my dad had this friend named jack.
the guy seemed a little nuts.
this guy nailed strips of stainless steel to the bottom of his winter boots because the soles were split down the middle.
I fractured my foot trying to kill a bug and spent the Summer of 2002 in a cast from my knee to my toes! That was REALLY stupid!
i know it's been a while again since i posted, just a lot going on.
i guess i missed the get-together in dallas, hopefully i will get to the next one!.
anyway, we are celebrating christmas this year.
Hooray Redneckgurl!! It sounds like you are just as excited as your kids-thats great!!

Get lots of rest!!
i have to report that i enjoyed the christmas pageant very much last evening.. told hubby i was attending an event from work and off i went; returned home around 9:30 p.m.. i'm telling you all, one thing is read about jesus christ's life, death, and resurrection in the bible, and a much more different experience is to see in enacted.
it was so vivid i almost cried a couple of times, because it touched me so.
the customs, the music, the sound, the stage, all those animals parading around, even a couple of camels!
You all must admit, though, that I am making some progress in my journey out of the tentacles of this huge cultish/religious monster.
Yes, step-by-step, one day at a time and before you know it you'll be out and wondering how you did it! I was watching PBS on Sunday and their happened to be a John Tesh Xmas show on and I was too lazy to get out of bed (nap-time!) to change the channel. The 1st song he did was a song called "This is Your Gift." Here is the chorus portion I was touched by:
This is your gift,
this brand new day
So take it to heart, take it on faith
Open your eyes and don't be afraid to learn how to live
'cause this is your gift
this brand new day
this is your gift

i have been df'd for a little over a yr now.
i am living with my bf of over 2+ yrs now and we aren't engaged yet, but we've talked about it and know it's going to happen just not exactly when.
but anyways, right after my df'ing i asked my mom if they would at least attend my wedding someday.
Hi Out!
First, I am sorry to hear about your parents decision to not attend your wedding. Hopefully, they will change their minds once the day is actually upon them.
I was fortunate that my Mom had stopped attending around the same time as myself and my Dad was never a JW. But, my 2 brothers became very active ironically around the time we left! So, when my wedding rolled around they chose not to be there for the ceremony but showed up afterwards for "congrats" and a few pictures. Now, normally something like that would really bother me, but there was lots worse going on during the days of my wedding that overshadowed that. However, what got me bothered more than anything was after the death of my Mom, my Dad remarried in a church and they were there for the ceremony the reception-everything!
In the past year, one of my brothers, Funchback, left the JW's. I finally was able to ask him his thinking about this. For my wedding, they wanted to "teach" me a lesson-maybe by being firm, they could "win" me back. I knew what the "rules" were about marrying outside of the faith. For my Dad, they figured, he was never a witness, this would be ok to attend and show their support.
IMHO, it all boils down to what the Society is saying at the time, personal conscience and how firm they seem to be in their faith.

P.S. A belated welcome to the forum!
ok, for those who suffer migraine attacks, when do you get them, and what do you do for them?
prior to an injury in the school yard, (a teenager at the time) i never had a headache.
my injury had all the symptoms of a migraine.
Nikita, do you know how many doctors I've seen in the course of forty years with this problem? I'm content with knowing how to handle my migraines when it attacks me, I fight back.
I'm sorry, I thought you were looking for experiences and advice. Didn't mean to offend.
im am a 19 year old male who is thinking of leaving christianity for another religion.
i am looking at jw first and before i really start studying it i want to know how the religion works on homosexuality because i have a boyfriend and dont want to leave him.and would i be able to go date and have sex with someone not in the religion.. thank you .

Hi Guest 77,
I have had them since I was about 5. Usually mine would last all day long. I didn't really find anything to help me until I was in my 20's. It was a prescription drug called Midrin. Since then, as Hy mentioned they have come up with even better prescribed drugs to treat migraines, besides Imitrex, theres' another drug which I have tried called Max Alt.
Over-the-counter meds that you may or may not have tried that seem to work for some types of tension and migraine headaches are Excedrin and Motrin.
Also, there is a preventative type of treatment which I used with good results-Verapamill or Covera- which are blood pressure meds, but they seem to help in prevention of migraines.
I would urge you to talk with your physician-as a good one will work with you to find a treatment that works.
