How do I disprove "New Light"?

i currently am a jw and my parents are too.they seem either confused or dislike it when i raise questions and recently, when i questioned them about 1925 and 1975, i've been told it's changed due to "new light.

" i don't remember nor do i have very much knowledge of "new light.".

this "new light" just dosen't sit with me and neither do the false prophecies.new light first of all, breaks a scripture in deut.

I asked some elders "Was Proverbs 4:8 a prophecy from Jehovah to show that the Governing body would be guilty of giving us

incorrect information through out the years.?"

He went on to say that what we know now is "Present Truth" so I stopped him and asked what he would call the previous understanding?

He did not say anything so I jumped in and said if it's not "Present" it must be "Previous" and he agreed, then I said if it's not "Truth" it must be a _______" Where I left a pause waiting for his answer.

Could not get him to say the word "lie" but I know he knew where I was going. Nice to see them flustered a bit.

i was baptized in 1992 and i think one of the books were united in worship...(blue book).

If you believe God exists, what are your thoughts on what pleases him most?

our family has come to believe that god really wants each individual to personally and independently seek, find and walk with him - quite apart from what other humans say, think, believe or do.. we believe we were created as semi-autonomous beings.

when our inner compass is recalibrated, and we then self-direct, the outcomes seem best.. when we are instead led by humans, their hierarchies, organisations and ideas, the outcomes on the whole seem unfavourable.

legalism (rules), moralism (a moral code), ethnocentrism (doctrine), and gnosticism (knowledge) may seem meritorious.. yet these do not seem to lead to the deep inner transformation needed.

God loves the smell of animal fat being burned on an open fire. This smell wafts to the high heavens, passing through the low heavens on its way to his residing place. When it reaches Gods nostrils, his olfactory senses light up like the 4th of July (oops) and it brings him pleasure.

Don't forget that God loves animals too, but does not love them enough to give up his "bad habit" of snorting "burnt fat fumes". Hey, everyone has a vice and with all the pressure of being God and all, kindly allow him some down time, besides he owns it all anyway so who are we to say " You can't go around killing animals just cause you like to smell burnt fat, come on"

Need some help!!!!! URGENT

my wifes mother recently passed away, and it has devastated my wife.

the family, who are not witnesses, but out of respect for the deceased, and who was a jw, had the ceremony at the kingdum hell, which almost made me throw up... last time i ever step foot in that place.

i felt like a vampire on the threshold of a church, as i looked into the interior hall feeling my skin burn and start to smoke... anyways, as i have posted on here before a friend of my wife, has in the past, sent her (my wife) emails about going back to the kingdumb hell.

Those books that I suggested earlier are very important in getting a person to understand that this religion is a cult and that they have no backing from a God. So in turn, the hopes that the WTBTS hold out to members are not theirs to offer. Seeing dead loved ones back alive again is THE biggest carrot their is to hang out infront of someone to make them do as their told.

I know that you have a lot of post here, has she ever spent any time online reading about the WTBTS and how they do what they do?

Seriously need to order these books, Combatting Cult mind Control by Steven Hassan, Captives of a Concept Don Cameron AND Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz the latter 2 can be ordered as a download and are about 10.00 each, well worth the money.

Until then, how about seeing if she is open to reading some intersting facts on JWFACTS.com You might want to think about what subject she has had a issue with regarding the WTBTS and find a subject on that and share this with her.

Does she know about the change of definition in the word Generation ? This info can be found at JWFACTS.com

Can you share with is just how you guys came about leaving, what doubts etc that lead up to it and what if any research she did since?

Please share her story so we can make more suggestions.

I would think that once she figured out that the ORg is not able to deliver on their promises she might see the light and realize that returning would be

a mistake.

These books are VERY important in keeping a person out of the Borg.
