Unlocking Phobia's in JW's - Steve Hassan's " Freedom of Mind " book
by flipper inmy wife and i finally finished steve hassan's latest book called " freedom of mind " so i wanted to devote one more thread to it in discussing how to recognize phobia's in witnesses or cult members and some methods hassan mentions to assist cult members.. on pg.
146 hassan states, " a cult phobia is a man-made mental illness that is an integral part of destructive influence.
a phobia is a persistent, irrational fear.

Who thinks that the GB spent numerous hours working out the " will this new light paint us into a corner?" They no doubt looked and twisted and ttweaked and re ran the outcome and questions that would have been raised due to this change. The real question that they should ask themselves if this is truly new light, why did you worry about the fallout? This is direct from Jehovah himself ad there will not be any fallout. Just your act of looking into this should prove to you that the idea of who the FDS is originates from men's minds, Not a gods mind.
A god does not need to CYA.

"It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all,.... except when it involves a cult member, in that case it is better to never have loved at all"
Jws love Jehovah first, all other humans take a second seat to the almighty.
I'm in no way saying to try to get back together with him, but he is in a cult and you could possibly get him to question whether or not he is in the correct religion.
If you were having sex with him during the time he was being considered for re-instatement, and even up to and afterward you could ask him how this could gods holy spirit approve of his re-instatement since he was involved in a sexual relationship outside of the marriage bonds.
You could feign interest in a letter to the elders to "clear your conscience before god" about your sexualy deeds with Brother X and lay it all out for then so that if for not other reason than to protect some of the other women that are trapped in that cult.

Calling all posters! What are YOUR questions for Candace Conti, Rick Simons and Kelly Kraetsch?
by cedars ini am pleased to announce that candace conti, and her key lawyers rick simons and kelly kraetsch are planning a youtube video to answer any questions that people in our community may have regarding the recent conti v watchtower lawsuit.
i have offered to coordinate the gathering of these questions, and i thought it might be fun to do it in a "competition" style jwn thread, with the best answers being chosen by kelly, rick and candace to be addressed in the video.. as you can imagine, there are some provisos to this.... this is an active lawsuit, so for obvious legal reasons kelly, rick and candace will have the absolute and final decision as to which questions are answered and how much information is divulged when they are answered.we need the answers in the next 7 days, so the "cut off" for this competition is exactly 7 days from the time this thread goes live on jwn.we kindly request that all questions are asked in a respectful manner without any malicious or offensive intent.
any inappropriate questions will obviously be discarded and ignored.

Cedars, can't remember if Rick had a say in whether or not Patterson would be acceptable as surety in place of the bond, but if so, why would they object to this being used?
I know that purchasing the fee for the bond will cost them REAL cash out of pocket, 87,000 or so per year I believe, but would not the allowing of the Patterson facility cause more possible bad press for the WTBTS even if it was never had to be sold. I realize that they would never actually sell the Patterson facility to pay off the money owed to Candice Conti.
So if they had a say in what could be used as security, did they deny the Patterson facility to cause the WTBTS to lose money on the fee?
Also, where are they on the e for the bond, have not heard much about that lately.

"Assembly Day 1" "Elders Will Help You Understand Society's Publications That Contradict The Bible"???
by ÁrbolesdeArabia in"data-dog", elders do not have time to involve themselves with publishers "personal, secret views", why can't the sheep do their own personal thinking and keep it to themselves if they desire to remain "in good standing"?
watchtower is afraid of the internet, men like simon, randy and greg stafford, anderson cos (women too) sites putting questions into thinking jws heads.
the wts is nervous because of the effect sites like jwn, freeminds, e-watchman, elihu , jw romania".

Leviathin was said to be a locomotive at one time, now I think it is a crocodile.
Cause you know how easy it is to mistake a locomotive from a crocodile as they are SO similar.

Reaching Loved Ones Stuck in a Cult: An Idea for Discussion
by 00DAD inyou may have heard the expression: "the map is not the territory.
" have you ever thought about how this idea may help you reach your loved ones stuck in a cult?
the phrase has been attributed to polish-american scientist and philosopher alfred korzybski.

A couple of elders brought up the idea of Proverbs 4:18 a while back and i asked them "Is that scripture is a phrophecy from Jehovah to show that his one channel of communication on Earth today would be continually getting things wrong when it comes to dispensing the proper food at the proper time?
I don't think that they gave me an actual answer.
Little children put their fingers in their ears and say na na na na to try to prevent themselves from hearing things that they do not want to hear. They also place their hands over their eyes to prevent themselves from seeing something that they cannot handle at the time. Sometimes I feel that Jw adults throw out these "thought stopping" comments like "Light getting brighter" is their way of putting their fingers into their ears. Possibly explaining how this works prior to actually sharing the info might alow them to see what is taking place.
Trying to get someone to wake up is like trying to crack a safe. You just cannot walk up to a safe and open that door without some thoughtful researach into what keeps the doors locked.

I think that something like this was done in the Bible where someone told King David a story about a man who had many sheep took away the only sheep that one man had. Then after he had Kind David say what he thought about the situation he told him that he wa in fact, the rich man who took the one sheep from the poor man with only one.
I think by having King David commit outloud first about the judgment that the rich man should be subjected to would have made it hard for him to backtrack. If it was thrown up in his face about taking the mans wife, he would have obviously not made the same remarks, and he would have worked his way out of it somehow. Whether or not the King David story is true or not, it gives an indication that a person might be able to be talked to when they are looking at the situation from a view that is not of their own as they are unbiased at that point.
I think the best way, or at least the best way that I can think of is to create a similar circumstance with someone of another religion, like the Mormons or something similar that would allow you to talk about a "friend" that is intersted in finding out more about their birth religions history and wants to research some things that they have heard about the Mormons but are afraid to look this info up since it is forbade by the Mormons to do this. See where I'm going here. I think if they can see that the Mormon ruling parties deny the members the right to look at their history and are forbidden to talk to ex members they might see a parallel between the JWs and the Mormons.

Does God's foreknowledge take away from free will?
by Christ Alone injust by knowing what will happen, that doesn't mean that we can prevent or cause something to happen.
my knowing that does not prevent them the free will of making the choice.. it's the same with god.
if god is not restricted to existence in the present, then the future is known by god because god indwells the future as well as the present and the past.

Sam Harris on Free Will.
A bit long and takes a bit to get started but well worth the time, In my opinion.
Especially when you consider what the subject matter.
Will you be a Critical thinker and spend the time to view these thoughts or will you look for confirmation of your bias?
