the current members of the governing body and their predecessors have for over one hundred years contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, theodemocracy and human rights in more than 200 countries... on this account, the norwegian nobel committee has decided to nominate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses in 2013 for the nobel peace price.

Maybe it is tongue and cheek due to all the media exposure in Norway at the moment regarding the WTBTS.

i'm not paying more than our house payment for vince and i to see a show.

i will buy the video and watch it nekkid.. the last time i saw them was in 1994 at legion field with my best friend.

we still say after all these years it was one of the best nights of our lives.. .

Could it be possible that these are "make the stones cry out" that was being referred to in the Bible?

Probably if the prophecy was concerning expressively about a music band 2000 years into the future or

perhaps you might be just mentally unbalanced.

Reading the bible is known to make people mentally screwed up.

I thought I would just throw that out there to see if it would stick. lol

(The following is just to poke fun at the mind control that the GB has on the JWS, did not want you to think that I was buying into this since I failed to mention that I was joking in the prior post lol )

I'm sure that the active Jws out there that would say "You must be crazy to believe something like this!!" if they heard this coming from anyone other than the GB.

But once they heard that a comment like this originated from the GB, they would do their best to make it fit that prophecy in the Bible.

If not, their carrot starts to dissapear.

Catching up with DF couple in supermarket frustrating.

hubby and i (faders) were in the supermarket today.

we had just avoided and completely ignored an elder and his wife when we saw a newly married couple who were both recently disfellowshipped, of course being the rebels we are we made a bee line for them.

the df man was until recently a workmate of my hubby so they quickly got into an animated discussion and i met the new wife who seemed nice but let me know they were getting reinstated asap.

I think that when you said " I let them know that it was my DF years ago that set me on the path to realising that it wasnt the true religion." and they still invited you over to their house after that it shows that they are open minded enough to want to know more about TTATT.

This could be your chance to plant some seeds that may get them into doing some research, if not already.

good morning all,.

i have had the opportunity over the last couple of years to speak with a couple of jw's who had either attended the same congregation i did or were married to someone who to the same one.

for the record, i disassociated myself in 1992 due to being followed around by an elder or two who had heard that i had ray franz's "crisis of conscience" in my possession.

I agree, they have to settle their minds with the thought that there is something wrong with us. Otherwise, leaving could be justified and we know that the WTBTS cannot let that thought come up into the minds of the sheeple.

This really works to shut up the elders and other do gooders prying questions

for what ever reason i have been contacted by a number of jw's as to why i do not attend the meetings etc.

in the past i have blown it off by saying i am super busy, tired, sick etc.

i had the opportunity just last week when i ran into an elder and his wife at the grocery store to respond to their comment.

one of my stated reasons for no longer attending:

"Why do my kids have a lower level of protection from child molesters than elders kids?"

Answer: Disfellowship me.

one can accept the reason why it did'nt come in 1975, "jehovahs wants people to worship him out of love and not for a date".

but it should have come by the late 1980's .

Belief disconfirmation paradigm

Dissonance is aroused when people are confronted with information that is inconsistent with their beliefs. If the dissonance is not reduced by changing one's belief, the dissonance can result in restoring consonance through misperception, rejection or refutation of the information, seeking support from others who share the beliefs, and attempting to persuade others.

An early version of cognitive dissonance theory appeared in Leon Festinger's 1956 book, When Prophecy Fails. This book gives an account of the deepening of cult members' faith following the failure of a cult's prophecy that a UFO landing was imminent. The believers met at a pre-determined place and time, believing they alone would survive the Earth's destruction. The appointed time came and passed without incident. They faced acute cognitive dissonance: had they been the victim of a hoax? Had they donated their worldly possessions in vain? Most members chose to believe something less dissonant to resolve reality not meeting their expectations: they believed that the aliens had given earth a second chance, and the group was now empowered to spread the word that earth-spoiling must stop. The group dramatically increased their proselytism despite the failed prophecy. [7]

Jehovah's Witnesses came round to my house

a couple of days ago, jehovah's witnesses came round to my house.

nothing exceptional in that, you might say.

it happens every day, all over the world.. but those of you who know me, or who have followed my story, know how traumatised i was when i finally got away from them, and you'll remember that i wrote a letter three or four weeks after walking away, ending all contact.

I like to compare the "Truth" to a virus, once you have taken your antibiotic and have beaten that strain of "bug"(WTBTS arguments) any left over "bugs" that present themselves to your "new immune system" will fail in bringing you back down.

On another note, I think it is very important to take ALL of your antibiotic, (continued research ever after you think you are "out") per the Drs order, as if you do not, it can come back to haunt you and take you out.

( I have not seen so many comparisons since the original Leviathan breakdown)
