confuzzled, we have matching ears. Aw!
and except for a twinge of concern about a non-jw parent, spouse or child,
That's okay, my mom has already informed me that in the new system she will forget all about me. All better!
i just received a brochure from a midwestern travel agency operated by jws that specialized in bethel tours.
i found this excerpt, relating to one item on the itinerary, as visit toe the holoccaust museum in washington quite interesting: "the museum is dedicated to presenting the story of how more than 30,000 jehovah's witnesses were persecuted by the nazis.
apparently the tour operators consider the slaugther of more than 6 million jews unworthy of mention!

i had the funniest thought at work...what if me and three apostate friends protest at a convention, and right before the song during a c.o's talk, me and one of the girls got up, and pretended like we were gonna do a normal sister embrace, and then, out of no where, me and the other 'sister' do would a long lesbian kiss while the c.o.
is giving a talk on fornication....what do you guys think the audience would do?.
LOL Quirky!
Joliette, there is another consideration. Do you want to make Quirky excited?

I don't think it is likely to wake anyone up?
this was taken from the watchtower 1975, august 15. paragraphs 12&13.
12 resources and abilities that we might possess should be used to advance kingdom interests, rather than letting them serve as hindrances in the race for life.
for instance, if you have an extra house, could you sell it and use the money to enter the pioneer service instead of working hard to maintain both houses?
That's great JWB... much more accurate.
i beginning to think that this would be a good way of thinking, a totally righteous being would not let all the shit that is happenning to people prevail, this being cannot have the best interests of man as his first priority, it's all about ego and no matter how the human familty suffers, he hates pretty much everyone, as the tv show says, your fired, let's get a better god, one who at least gives everyone a chance!!.
i welcome comments from god apologists, to at least have an argument as to why they put they're faith in someone that does'nt give a shit about them!.
star tiger.
There are certain others' "styles" here that I don't particularly care for, as well... but, as you said, I can overlook it. I learned in college once that it is the MESSAGE that is most important, versus the messenger and/or the media/presentation...
Agreed. :)
Shades
P.S. I have tried to stop using the nickname SOG because I saw someone use those initials to stand for Jesus. Plus, shades sounds cooler.
i believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..
The biggest difference that I have seen is that decades ago JWs had fun. Now it seems any fun at all causes too much guilt aboout time wasting.
i have been hitting a brick wall trying to pry my boyfriend away from this stuff.
it just makes me cry that it's so obvious to me how wrong it is, and he's not even batting an eyelash.
he knows about all of the scandals, all of the false prophecies, the coverup of sexual predators, that elders tell abuse victims to stay with their spouses, that they dishonestly use sources, and he just doesn't care.
Brother in law and nephew are now free. Never going back they say! Also a friend of mine is saying the same thing. I don't know if they will end up Christians, but it was God's word and spirit that reached them. So... including me, so far in 5 months time... and not using any secular sources... we have 6 people free of the cult, and 5 more who have listened or asked questions.
forgive me if i'm a bit slow with the title to this thread.
the true absurdity of the cult that robbed me of my intellect for so long is still beginning to dawn on me.. i'm doing more research into domestic violence as part of a response to the notorious "wife beating" article in the feb 2012 watchtower.. i was shocked to find a question from readers in the w75 5/1 p286-288 which basically said that a battered wife would not be scripturally free to divorce her husband.
my first reaction was that this stance must have changed since 1975, but then i dipped into my own memory from serving as an elder, and of course, adultery (including porneia) is given as the only scriptural grounds for divorce down to this day.. please can somebody correct me if i'm wrong, preferably with a reference?
I personally have two good friends who were disfellowshipped for divorcing abusive husbands. Another waited years for the elders to prove that her husband had shacked up first.
So... that is what happens in practice. True stories. 2 of these women are still JWs. :(
and another thought: What about sexual abuse? A man can purposely not give his wife pleasure you know.

My wife is a witness and she will not leave the religion without becoming an atheist or agnostic. For years, I never understood why this was. I left many churches without "leaving God" but leaving the Jehovah's Witness religion is not the same as leaving a church. Most churches accept other churches as valid, even if only half heartedly. The witness religion accepts no other religion as valid and spends a great deal of time invalidating every other religious faith out there except their own. Once they wake up and realize that there faith may be equally invalid, they may just give up on faith altogether. "Where else can they go?"
Well, I will tell you what happened with me. I read a WT comparing the JW governing body to Moses and realized that they were trying to take Christ's position. My life changed right then and there. I am now a born-again Christian.
I told my husband and he went about researching the 1914 doctrine, then a missionary (JWinfo.net, contact him!!!!) showed him that Jesus is Jehovah and he was Born Again.
He called his sister, told her what he had learned and by the end of the conversation she said Jesus is the Lord.
With God all things are possible.
Where else can they go?
"Come to ME all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Christianity is not a religion, is not a denomination, but a relationship with Jesus Christ. And how can we not love Him?

Combatting Cult Mind Control and How to Rescue Your Loved one from the Watchtower, Ten Things you should tell a JW.
I had a very good discussion with my dad. When I type it out I will link you to it so it will give you an idea of how to ask questions.
And don't forget the power of prayer. I have all my friends praying. :)
