I don't have very many that I actually wear. 1 pair of Tennishoes, black and brown dressy boots, hiking boots, black dress shoes, brown dress shoes, off-white dress shoes, a few pairs of sandals. Also, if I have several pair that suit the same purpose this is usually because the first couple of pair I bought are not comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time, while carrying a baby, while retaining water, etc. That is still way more than most men need. Women's shoe needs are different.

Hello--new to the witnesses...and you
by LKM injust wanted to introduce myself.
i went to the kh for the first time 2 weeks ago...and will go again tomorrow.
i don't believe anything witnessy...(i was raised in the assembly of god church and now the closest thing i "do" with religion is yoga or sometimes the buddhist temple).... but the man i'm in love with is a df'd jw (we've been together for 6 years).... and he wants to get reinstated just to talk to his family again (i can assure you he does not believe it).... and he wants his family to accept me because we are about to get married... so, i'm going to meetings...its very interesting, but only because it shows me more about how he was raised.

Please read the books! I also recommend "Rescuing your loved one from the Watchtower" because there are a bunch of photocopies from the JWs publications.
You simply must be informed. There are many people who have been bamboozled by their teachings. Atheist rocket scientists, Christian pastors, Wiccans, etc. I would also be SURE that your bf is 100% convinced that they are a destructive cult.
I am a Christian now and I can tell you that this is not a religion. Organized religion is bad enough but a destructive cult is different. I love JWs. The poor dears are being held hostage. That doesn't mean that I attend their meetings in order to help them.

"Theocratic Warfare" and the Annual Report
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inone of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".
beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.
but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

That's how it was for me LITS. I felt guilty doing anything that didn't "promote kingdom interests", and my husband tried to break me out of it, but others in the congregation had the opposite view of things and would drag me back in. :(
It is amazing now, to not feel guilty. I used to always feel guilty.

My only own regret when I left
by Joey Jo-Jo inmy parents are still witnesses, i read coc, isocf and conceptoc, then decided not to attend meetings.. i told them everything i knew about what was written and this pushed them away from me and further into the "truth", we still talk like a normal family but when a topic merges that i speak about jw's i get shunned, they don't comment.
i didn't understand why they continued to believe after i mentioned gb voting system, un, and others, i also mentioned about ray franz and what the bible really says, dad asked me why not i just join his (ray's) religion since i know so much.. i knew about hassans books but didn't see them necessary at the time, but i didn't understand why they are acting this way.
i just finished releasing the bonds, now i understand why they acted the way they did and why they didn't listen, my only regret was not reading this and combating cult mind control earlier.. so we were all brought up in the truth, all my family members are in the truth, during the years they were taught not to think anything negative about the religion - that's how you loose part of your critical thinking skills (remenber how the brothers kept remind of how happy we all are.).

Wow, Gary, now that I think of it, as a child our friends used to make a "haunted house" in their bedrooms around halloween time, and we would always go to their house for New Years and stay until after midnight, which we never did any other time. My brother and sister claimed that they even got drunk! We also celebrated our parent's wedding anniversary with a big thanksgiving type meal and presents for everyone, right around that time of year. Currently, we know witness friends who seem to celebrate birthdays in their own roundabout way....
Great post Daniel.

WT Flip-Flops on Jesus Inspection Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Yes, I too was blinded for a long time, even with my Christian friends trying to wake me up to freedom. At last the years of doubts of the WT and assurances from the Bible added up to the day I broke free.
Psalm 73:22 I was so foolish and ignorant-I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.

Must you go on speaking for God when he never once has said the things that you are putting in his mouth? Does God want your help if you are going to twist the truth for him? Be careful that he does not find out what you are doing! Or do you think you can fool God as well as men? No, you will be in serious trouble with him if you use lies to try to help him out. Doesn't his majesty strike terror to your heart? How can you do this thing?-- Job 13:7-11

How to convince someone to question the authority of the WT
by LanaMich19 ini have someone in my family that is a jw and she has engaged me in conversation.
for the record, i consider myself an evangelical christian.
after some debate and research, i backed out of a verse by verse debate and switched the convo to get on some common ground, asking if she believe the bible was the inspired word of god.

Acts 15:14, "Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about taking from among the Gentiles a people for His name."
Acts 11:26 "and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians."

Baptism in Holy Spirit and in Fire
by Inkie inthis morning my brother asked me a question about the following biblical text.
i indeed baptize you in water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than i, whose shoes i am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the holy spirit and in fire.matthew 3:11. .
apparently, it seems, the brothers statement came from the societys cd-rom.

If I am praying about understanding what I read, sometimes the understanding comes to me, I receive answers in my head while praying. Or I might receive what someone else needs to hear specifically, like "she needs to hear that she is already forgiven". I already know the scriptures that teach this, but do not know what that person needs to hear out of multiple choices. When these answers come to me while praying, it is very much like Christ is talking to me. Other times I get the answer while sleeping.
You may wonder how I know that the Lord is the one communing with me. I know that the spirit talking to me is not a demon because of the fruit of the spirit. Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, Mildness, Faith, Self-Control. I have received these things from my baptism with Spirit. I have been more loving, less judgmental and more forgiving.
I am just trying to share my experience.

Sad, but they have sold their soul and their mind to the WT . Get a JW to think ? Nah. Their critical thinking skills are safely locked in Brooklyn.
Weren't you one?

And another thing, I checked to see how many posts factfinder had because I figured he/she was a current witness. Certainly since leaving that organization I have found many more loving, honest, good people than I found within it.
