  A Mind at War

  right now, i feel like my mind is at war with itself.. on the one side is reason, logic.. on the other is tradition, hope and fear.. reason and logic are challenging life-long beliefs.

  they are telling me, "is this any more believable than the story of the lord of the rings?".

  certain doctrines of my belief system are crumbling.. my mind still wants to hold on to the belief in a creator, his son jesus and the bible.

  I have children. I knew ttatt and I didn't want them to feel pressured to get baptized. I didn't want them to miss out on the joys of childhood I knew they should be experiencing.

  I have kids myself. They're real little. But my wife and I both agree that we got baptized too young.

  If it comes to it, I'm not going to tell them they can't get baptized. Everyone has to make their own decisions and I'm going to let them choose their own life. But I certainly won't let them get baptized before they're 18. My wife told me the other day, "If you're not legally old enough to make a decision about getting married until you're 17 or 18, then you're definitely not old enough to make a decision about baptism either."

  Hopefully I'll be able to orchestrate a family fade before the kids are too indoctrinated.

  When they're older, I'll make sure they know both sides to the story about the so-called "Truth" and they can make their decision then.

  Usually, with raw HTML, the browser ignores double spaces and just renders a single space.

  Does this WYSIWYG editor insert non-breaking spaces when double spacing?

  cofty: Thanks for pointing this post out to me. Very sound reasonings. 

  The basic thing that turned me on to the fact that this blood doctrine is wrong was that I found out that Breastmilk contained white blood cells. White blood cells are considered by the organization to be forbidden, not a "fraction." However, a baby is allowed to literally eat white blood cells in order to sustain it's life. How does this make sense?

  It doesn't, so I now reject the no blood teaching in my mind.

  so i'm curious if anyone has further info/dirt on jaracz or any other gb members (former or current).

  i know jaracz was publicly accused of molesting a young girl (now an adult).

  Very well could have been but i think thay was prior to the df'ings.

  Wow, when I was there, I was under the impression in 2001 that the George Couch "Homo" morning worship was very recent. Rumor was that WTF had a bunch of homosexual activity going on. (I was at Patterson.)

  Simon said: The fact is they obviously put a lot of effort into misquoting people - finding the snippet of something that someone said and taking it out of context in a way to give a completely wrong impression of what they were saying.

  They do this a lot with Scripture. (i.e. Peter asking,"Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life.").

  Sorry, i also should add that i know from my own time there that bethel in the early 90's was rampant with homosexual activity.  My barber was df'd for it along with many others in a big brouhaha.

  Part of their problem in finding skilled workers, IMO, is that kids aren't allowed at Bethel. Not that I now would want my kids there, but I could see if I bought into the whole cult mindset applying with my family.

  now that I know TTATT, that would be unthinkable!

  Dude, there is some JW hate on here, but not that much. 

  I think most of us would agree that if the Society was more transparent, progressive, open to debate and put protecting children above public relations then many of us would not be disillusioned and may very well still be in the truth.

  The problem isn't Jehovah's Witnesses, it's the self-appointed Faithful and Discreet Slave.

  I actually have 8 out of those 15 skills and learned them all on my own by buying books or on the job.

  But I'd probably be making twice as much salary if I had gotten a degree.

  the fact remains though that learning some or many of those skills doesn't require college or university.
