Oz...I feel ya, brother! I have to pay ex-wife support for just a few more months. My daughter will be 18 in October, then I won't have to pay any longer. Especially since it's been over 4 years since I've seen my daughter. I have money set aside if she wants to come down and go to college, but her mom won't get any more of it, that's for certain.

crazy jw ex wife shoots herself in the foot, again
by Aussie Oz inyou would think she would learn.. but being the vindictive bitter woman she has alowed herself to become, i guess she can't.. last time she threatened me with less visitation and told me to get a lawyer, she lost big time and had to concede much compared to what she wanted to take away.. this time she 'dobs' me into the child support angency for being in arrears and not paying the correct amount.
both not true as i have signed delivery of all payments and i actually pay her a little more than i have to.
but the foot shooting is that by making a request to the csa to collect the money from now on, they have to review the case and based on the more time my daughter gets since april last year they say they will reduce the amount... on top of that i can have my sons case closed now as he is fulltime employed which would futher reduce the amount i pay.

Do you remerber your first shepherding call from the Gestapo
by jam ina jw about a year, still trying to get a handle on things, walk.
the walk and talk the talk.
the wife was moving ahead.

For me, the shepherding calls were always either about my music or how I wasn't setting a good enough example for those younger than me. I once asked them "Who says I ever wanted to be their example. Can't they just live their own lives?"

Haha! Without a doubt. In fact, one wonders how some people ever get published. More what I'm refering to is using rich language - no just throwing words at the subject. I guess it's kind of a nuanced thing. Even in fiction, you DO have to get to the meaning, but no one says that you have to go about it in a ham-handed way. Using dialogue, sensory description, and other tools can reveal the nature of your characters and bring the reader to the setting. I certainly didn't mean that fiction give a person license to obfuscate the main ideas, unless that's the nature of the piece...

Mixed marriages - JW/non-JW - what makes you stay?
by Nickolas ini know a woman, became a wife .
these are the very words she uses to describe her life .
she said a good day, ain't got no rain .

I stay because my wife is a wonderful woman. We don't really argue about religion. She knows where I stand and that I'm not going to be coming back to the hall. She understands my reasons and she also realizes that my effed up parents (esp. my dad) imposed this religion on me, whereas, she made a conscious choice as an adult to join up. Fortunately, she's not a jihadist JW...she really doesn't go to the hall much or anything. In fact, she says I'm her "favorite heathen." What we have works for us. However, I realize that this is the exception - for sure not the rule.

I think it depends on the context in which one is writing. Obviously, on an internet forum such as this, brevity and directness is usually the best idea. However, if one is writing a work of fiction to be published for a greater audience, one has to choose a style of writing that will reflect his or her literary persona. Some fictional writers still try for brevity and directness, while others use words to pain a picture with all the nuance one could ever want. It's kind of a subjective thing.

JW-media Nearly 1,000 conscientious objectors serving in South Koreas prisons
by darth frosty ini cant believ they have the friggin nerve to put this in writing?!?
how man brothers went to jail viet nam instead of doing alternative service at the $ocieties direction?!?.
http://www.jw-media.org/kor/20110214.htm.
-
CoonDawg
Huh...I bet my Uncle, who did two years in the federal pen at El Reno, OK would be interested to know that now alternative service is actively being sought as a way for objectors to NOT go to prison. Lots of brothers in the years between WWII and the end of the draft here in the US would have liked to have known that they didn't have to serve prison time and become felons.
