I can see that in my town every jw counts in the strong possibility of dying in this system when they speak about the future. I noticed that some in their late 40s don't beleive they will get through Armageddon alive. My grandma recently reasons a lot in the following way: "where could we go? the wts gives us the best life we could ever have". It's like she doesn't beleive anymore she would get to see the paradise and is trying to lie to herself that she didn't waste her life for nothing.

I NEVER Hear A JW Talk About Never Dying & Living Forever In Paradise Anymore!
by minimus ini was raised with this belief, that we would never die and actually make it into the "new system".
mu faithful jw aunt still talked about my mother (her sister) and her walking together into the great tribulation--- and never die at all!
she spoke of that 2 days before she passed away.. i believe most witnesses expect to die and then get resurrected.

Thank you BU2B and the others for your kind words. I'm happy that finally I can contribute to the community, but it's you guys who have a lot of experience and an amazing way of reasoning and logic that always makes me drop my jaws and ask myself: "why didn't I think of that one?".
Two of my friends have already asked me about the letter (I've posted it on facebook) and I'm sure others have noticed it to. I told them what was the letter about and that it's their business to draw conclusions, as for myself it makes me think. I hope they start thinking. :)
Also, Paralipomenon: your post is priceless, thank you for sharing that letter. KiddingMe: Sure it's okey. The whole reason of this thread is to provide all the possible ways and sources to disprove the WTS' respond to Brant and prepare for eventually debate with jws on this matter.

Petty Gambling
by konceptual99 inaccording to the shepherd book.... .
the elders do well not to involve themselves in what individuals do with regard to petty gambling solely for entertainment.
they may need to give counsel if this becomes a cause of stumbling for others or affects the spirituality of the individual or the congregation.-w02 11/1 p. 31.. .

Lies taught by the GB about ....Life, Worldy people & apostates
by williamhconley inthe governing body not only lies to it's members about their true history but also about life itself, worldly people and former members.. here are some of those lies that come to my mind.. .
"jw's are the happiest people on earth" -.
fact: depression, anxiety, fear of punishment, paranoia, is what jw's live with every day.

Discussion with some elders
by GoUnion inhello everyone just wanted to relate a situation that occurred a few days ago.
so i have quit going to meetings for a few months now based on some issues i have with the explanations of current doctrines.
my wife is none too happy with this but over the last few months we have had some date nights and have tentitively agreed to disagree.

Hi GoUnion. Sounds like you are on the way out :) Best of luck for you.
I need to disagree with some of you, guys. I know a lot of elders who have liberal way of thinking about many things. This doesn't mean they are not ignorant and brainwashed in 80% of the time. The elders from my cong are aware of the fact that I'm reading apostate stuff and that I'm not afraid of sharing these things with others, yet they don't do anything. The last time they wanted to come to visit me I told them it had no use as I don't base my decisions on their shepherding. I beleive it's a teritorial thing.

Memorial 2014: Wrong date?
by AnnOMaly inthis was meant to have nice inserted pictures and tidy hyperlinks but the forum's being glitchy today.
so unfortunately it's going to be a messy post where you're going to have to exercise your tapping fingers and click on the links to the pics to see what i'm referring to.
sorry about that.. in the article recently studied "do this in remembrance of me" (w13 12/15), there is a box on p. 23 giving the date of this year's memorial and how that date is arrived at.. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2013926.

Cosmos--any creationists watching? And what does EVEryONE think of it?
by Jon Preston ini just finished the episode about the extinctions and the tree of life and how life evolved.
my wife asked me "what, do u believe in evolution now?
because im watching a science show?

Yes, I think some level of ambiguity enters into the discussion when it's about things we can only study remotely, but that's only when it comes to what was before the Big Bang, string theory, all those Morgan Freeman stuff :D However in most bracnhes of science that doesn't apply. I admit that I need to read more about how they get those figures, I always wondered about that. I'm gonna study geology in this semester; I finally get to understand how they calculate the age of the Earth and will be able to show jws that scientists don't just pull out those figures from their pocket.
