  "He (Jehovah) says the requirements for special pioneers shall be 175 hours and 50 back calls per month, which should develop into a reasonable number of studies; and for regular pioneers 150 hours and as many back calls and studies as can be properly developed during that time. And for company publishers he says, 'Let us make a quota of 60 hours and 12 back calls and at least one study a week for each publisher.' These directions come to us from the Lord through his established agency directing what is required of us; and, for those who really love the Lord and are guided by his counsel, that is a reasonable service requirement.   The 'Service Meeting' was nothing more than a glorified 'Sales Meeting' and the old chart was just a tool to compare your 'companies' division (Congregations were at one time called companies) against the total performance of all the divisions combined.

  Things Rutherford got wrong that Fred Franz had to clear up

  i was interested by the suggestion in a recent discussion that rutherford was in some way preferable to fred franz, because i’ve not come across this view before.

  it made me rethink my assumptions and try to work out why i hold the opposite view and prefer fred franz to rutherford.

  i haven’t done any additional research, so i’m only drawing on what i can remember off the top of my head, but i thought i’d list a few things where i reckon fred franz’s approach was preferable to rutherford.

  You are correct, Careful. The blood transfusion policy began to coagulate (pardon the pun) in the late 1940's early 1950's long before Gene Smalley came onto the scene. The September 22nd ,1949 AWAKE pg 26-27, THE WATCHTOWER 1949 edition pg 367-368 and THE WATCHTOWER 1950 pg 79-80 discuss the subject clearly for the first time as it pertains to Jehovah's Witnesses.

  Did the Fred Franz style of writing cease after he died?

  i was completely out by 1991 and 1989 would have been the last time i had to attend regularly.

  that over the top franz writing style was still there in the 1980's although i've heard he wasn't actually doing much writing by then.

  but his style was definitely picked up and imitated for many years beyond its wacky, outlandish peak of the the 50's - 70's.

  As a matter of interest, I believe the writer you are referring to was dismissed from Bethel service for breaking an engagement. It was a sad story and an act of passion and foolishness on his part. The 1975 change on breaking engagements was put into place because of him.

  damon does have some light swearing here and there, but he claims to be a practicing jw and gives the whole witness theology about the signs of the last days & breaking down the words of the lord's prayer regarding god's will being done on earth.. starts at the 28:55 mark.

  usa politicians in charge of the economy for the past 50 years were too stupid to understand how the economy works.

  this just proves my theory, that an education on the top tier universities just sucks and means nothing in the real world, unless its in the stem education.

  for 50 years usa had zero tariffs on other countries.

  Dagney...without giving myself away, I have been in the auto parts business for 47 years. These tariffs are creating the worst price hikes I have seen in my lifetime. So far, the company I am affiliated with is only raising prices in the teens percentage wise to start but even then they will be devastating to the end user who can ill afford to pay for repairs on their automobiles in the current economic environment.

  liam...your entire post is a LIE. The 2024 tariff on Butter levied by the Canadian government was 11.38 cents per kilogram which is about 5.2 cents per pound. Don't take my word for it. Here is the tariff schedule from the Canadian government that you can check out for yourself. cbsa-asfc.gc.ca The 300% tariff only kicks in if more butter is imported than was agreed upon by the two countries. In 2024 Canada imported over a Billion dollars in cheese, milk, cream, butter and whey from the United States.
