exactly.
they say a 'third of the angels' left heaven to be with Satan....implying that it was a substantial amount (their resoning, not mine).
if Jehovah or Yaweh or Jesus or whoever were so awe-inspiring, so full of wonder and awe...could some good-looking human tail really be all it took to make you go AWOL?
nah. i call bullshit.

The true, unsung hero of the Bible....
by Unlearn inmy undisputed hero of the bible is known by several names, depending on who you talk to...devil, satan, lucifer, etc.. read it, and you'll find that he was the only one who really stood up for you.. he asserted that you could make decisions for yourself...and told you the very real truth that, just because the piece of meat in your chest stops thumping, you positively do not 'die'.. he was your hero.
he stood up to a daddy-maniac and said, 'just because you made us doesnt mean you have the right to tell us what to do.
i thought we were free?'.

Why You Shouldn't care about offending Jehovah's Witnesses
by Dogpatch inwhy you shouldn't care about .
offending jehovah's witnesses .
[partial quote, please read the whole article with pictures].

yes, Jehovahs Witnesses actually WANT to be offended: it serves a persecution complex that has been programmed into them consistently.
they NEED it, to justify various stipulations supposedly lain out by Jesus about their continual tribulation.
i know Jehovahs Witnesses who betray a very real sense of disappointment when movies like 'Religiolous' come out and say NOTHING about JW's.
it's all ego.
all ego... -

one of the greatest cons on society, ever..in my humble opinion.
the very one arguing for your freedoms? youve been told that he's your enemy.
that is, if you take those particular myths literally.
just my opinion...which is worth whatever you want to pay me for it (ill post my Paypal address if the spirit moves you...) -

Do YOU View Any Type Of Porn? If You Were Still a JW Would You Be Able To Enjoy "Privileges"?

Pornography is a wonderful thing.
I viewed it...while I was an elder (towards the end).
this fear of watching consenting adults have sex is ridiculous. -

Hi...
I may be misspelling this guys name, but while I was in Patterson doing long-term temporary (before I got accepted longer and moved to Brooklyn Bethel), this guy was my table head. He seemed to be really arrogant. His attitude towards me was very condescending. Was it just me...or is he just that way?
He struck me as being big-time around Patterson (early 90's - while it was still under construction). 800.00 suits, gold wrings, expensive wristwatch...the whole deal. He very clearly had money.
Just wondering if any of you folks knew this guy and could tell me what his deal was.
Going to Bethel, and meeting this guy was a turning point for me (in hindsight). He looked and behaved like a Wall Street Exec. I remember cold mornings, dressed in work clothes and TIRED...leaving morning worship to go slave, while he would slip on his expensive trench coat and wander off...and wishing i had HIS job.... -

I don't even argue these things anymore.
It's pretty academic at this point that the Bible is very much influenced by other myths and legends.
Only that little thing called 'faith' would make a person fly in the face of both discernable and circumstantial evidence to 'believe' against the odds.
And you cant argue with 'faith'.
'Faith' is resistant to fact or proof.
'Faith' doesn't need these things.
In fact, when presented with evidence to the contrary, 'faith' has a weird little propensity to grow STRONGER.Cofty is quoting some very well-known and academically sound material. He's absolutely correct.
But it makes no difference in an argument with 'faith'.
It drives me nuts...willfull shielding. So, as I mentioned...I stopped having these arguments.

The Civil Rights Struggle: Put it to Rest
by prophecor inwe have been priveliged to have the first black president in the us to serve in the white house.
with the wrestling of the 50's and 60's, king and the kennedys.
race riots, vietnam, the drug culture of the seventies, and so on and so forth, isn't it time we all took a deep breath and take into account all that has transpired between where we are and where we've been?

Yea, I never get that.
Jewish people continually scream 'never forget' about the Holocaust (which they SHOULD: they are absolutely right), and no one says a WORD to them...
yet, black folks are repeatedly pressed by some to 'forget the past' and 'let it go'.
People talk about thecivil rights movement like it was ancient history, sometimes. In fact, it was one generation ago: people who wrought it still walk this planet.
No, t's going to take a LOT longer to forget. The nerve of some to tell a race of people who were on the short end of the stick like that to 'get over it and move on'. It's a subtle form of more 'control'.
'OKAY FOLKS, you've had enough time to grieve over what we/they did to you. Now, we officially pronounce ALL DEBTS PAID. Get back to normal.' -

LAST CALL: Give a piece of advice to JW's going into the New Year
by Terry inhere is my advice to jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. .
it is okay to treat each day as if it were your last if it makes you more grateful, humble and kind.. but, if it becomes your excuse for neglecting your life, your sense of charity, your education and your humanity---then, shut the hell up about end times and make a new beginning.. start with here and now....today....improving this world any way you can.
stop thinking of everybody else as some kind of "enemy" that deserves to die if they don't read your magazine.. the sooner you comprehend that your truth is just another opinion the better off you'll be.. oh, and try loving people who don't think the same way you do.. start with those brothers and sisters you've been turning your back on.

its ok to 'not know'.
your happiness does not depend on you knowing exactly whats going to happen in the future.
thats an old lie...and people will try to convince you that the 2 are inextricable. its a lie. they aren't.
its OK to not know.
REAL humility is admitting that you dont know.
you are a human being. a tiny speck on a little planet in a backwater solar system in a fairly mediocre galaxy (as far as galaxies go)...of which there a trillions.
it's ok to not know all the secrets of reality. You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes."You can steer yourself any
direction you choose."You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll
decide where to go. -

question for older ex-elders
by scooterspank ini have only just begun to talk to my father about why he left the truth.
i know why he stepped down as an elder many years ago but we have just scratched the surface about why he "faded" in his 60's i would say (he is now 74).
i just wonder how much leaving the "truth" that much later in life has an effect on depression, anxiety, anger (he joined in his 30's)?
-

after a while, you just let the anger and bitterness go.
you accept that what happened to you was YOUR normal. everything is point of view. when your bummed, your mind will tell you, 'it is NOT all point-of-view! this mess REALLY HAPPENED to me!'
but it really is all point-of-view. your mind is a monster...and it RULES when you get it working for you instead of against you.
things are what they are.
i'll say this: i sometimes do feel a bit of guilt for the ones i studied with and 'assisted to baptism' in the 'truth'. yes, it was their choice...but it also was very Kervorkian of me. assisted suicide. but still...back then, i did what i knew how to do. now that i know better, i do better.
i was talking to a friend of mine....a childhood pal that i reconnected with after about 15 years: we spent some time in Bethel together back in our early 20's.
he was disfellowshipped about 13 years ago...and is now free.
at one point in our conversation the other day he said,'Just think, 'Unlearn'...just think if we had been pushed to really reach for something substantial, to go to college and really go for our lives. think about what we could've been.'
i got out by 40. some years gone...but baby, im still alive and breathing. ;) -

Just think about it. It's an awkward thing to even say. It's totally disconnected from any other thought in the song.
If one of us just starts to say it to the other, it's all over...
Guess you just have to be there...
So glad I'm out.
What do you know? Both me & Trent Reznor finally found 'happiness'. ;)
