When Someone You Love Is Removed As An Elder!
by Bubblegum Apotheosis inlast week we lost a wonderful elder (removed, stepped down is what i will believe) , this man was as real, as you can get.
he loved the sheep,.
his eternal optimism of humanity is a rare quality in the jw religion.

Nuggets situation with her hubby sounds very similar to mine. The brother mentioned in the op appears to have "stepped down" rather than be removed. My hubby did the same so that he could help with some serious family problems that he took on when he married me. One would think that the other elders would view that decision as a sign of humility. That hubby recognized his limitations and scriptural obligations- but nooooooo they view it as a sign of weakness that they take advantage of. In my hubbys case, the anounceent was, Balaamsass is no longer an elder. This left everyone to draw the conclusion that somehow our courtship was not "honourable" since the announcement came soon after we were married. Worse yet, hubby was left with no "priveledges" and no thanks whatsoever for his decades of faithful service.
Of course, now I realize the unfair treatent helped us to wake up and therefore was all for the best. Still, the point to be made is that more and more of the decent elders are run out or leave on their own for various reasons with the result being that mostly ass*oles are left to lead.

Mrs Jones, It's hard to express the pride and love a mother has for her son but I believe I know. I agree that raising children to become responsible members of society is the hardest job on earth. There is always that pesky variable of free will. LOL. You are clearly doing a great job and your kids are wise enough to use their will wisely. CONGRATS!!!
Happy birthday Shaun!!!!

The "invisible" Elephant in the room: ELDERLY JW's nobody provides for
by Terry inquestion: how does the leadership of jehovah's witnesses instruct its members to prepare for the eventual elder care of its members?.
answer: it pretends it will never happen!.
is this responsible leadership or some kind of cognitive dissonant malfeasance?.

Yes Terry, this callous disregard for the elderly hit home to hubby and me and was one of the reasons we left the Borg. I intend to start a thread detailing the treatment my faithful, widowed, born in, 93yr old mother recieved when I wrote the WT$ on her behalf and asked them to repay her last $20,000.00 loan to them.

You would return to Jehovah's Witnesses if...
by Shawn10538 insomeone else suggested this so i just figured, ok let's do it.. 1. all present jws died and i became the sole leader of the entire religion.
2. then i would dissolve the religion and burn every last memory of it ever existing.
3. all books would be burned, all buildings destroyed.

It's official!
by lilbluekitty intonight i just got my certificate: i'm officially a member of my church and a baptist.
(i think of myself as just a general christian, but i like the laid-backishness of the baptists.
i definitely don't think one denomination is better than anyone else though, and my church is multi-cultural, so i'm not a hater of other races like some southern baptists).

Congrats! Just curious, what made you pick the Baptists as opposed to any other Christian faith?

How did you visualize Jehovah when you were young?
by Matsimus ini was born as a third generation (perhaps even fourth gen. but my great great grandfather never got baptized) jw.
i remember that when i was young, perhaps about five years old, i would think about jehovah as this big black ghost with yellow eyes.
to me he was quite frightening, and i was constantly catious not to piss him off.

Being a child of the fifties, and having a harsh father, and being told that Jehovah is my heavenly father, I was terrified of making him angry. According to what I was told, pretty much everything enjoyable makes him angry. I spent my whole life trying to help him see something good in me.
