I can honestly say my husband did not believe the end was near. Not only did he outright say so, he proved it by building houses for us. One in 73 another in 75. That was a real no no in those years, even tho the society was buying and building to beat the band. The Rand F were encouraged to SELL their houses and go pioneering where the need was great. When 1975 came and went all the Elders who looked down on 1st hubby ended up building houses. LOL They even ended up appointing him an Elder!

1975 - The Killer WT quote
by tim hooper inone thing is absolutely certain, bible chronology reinforced with fulfilled bible prophecy shows that six thousand years of mans existence will soon be up, yes, within this generation!
(matt.

I like to think I have a very good memory of the time between 1968 and 1975. The summer of 68 had an Awake Title: Is it Later Than You Think? which basically said if you are in school now, forget college, you will NEVER have time to use your education before this system ends on or BEFORE 1975. I was going into my Senior year in HS and that article changed my life. I took only the easiest required courses, skipped all the electives, and got out at noon, all with my JW parents permission. I got engaged and married a few months later. I didn't get a job because (hate to admit it) I was plain lazy. Why think when the WTBT$ did it for me? Why learn a skill or trade when I had a husband to support me? Besides the world was going to end in a couple of years. By 1973 I was 21 and took the religion MUCH more seriously. At that time we were studying the "Ezekiel book" (The nations Shall Know I am Jehovah How?") The message we were bludgened with was : the vast majority of men, women, and children are about to be destroyed by "Jehovah of Armies". If someone dies because I personally didn't warn them then I am bloodguilty and will ALSO be destroyed. (makes you feel warm and fuzzy doesn't it?) Anyone who was paying the slightest attention to the meetings, literature, and assemblies became caught up with the excitement. I decided pioneering was like life insurance. I wasn't sure the end was coming in a few months but didn't want to risk being unprotected either!

Similar Religions to Jehovah's Witnesses
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
i am sort of having a breakthrough with my mother-in-law.
she's not really going to the meetings any longer but still believes the jehovah's witnesses are the "true religion".. in our last conversation, she said the following:.

Jaymes, Hubby and I are going through the exact same thing with my MIL. She is old, frail, mentally impaired etc. She worries about our being inactive but won't shun us bc she needs me to do things for her. (Selfish right to the end!) When she starts to "Witness" to me I always quote a scripture that refutes what she has just said. My favorites are direct quotes from Jesus himself or my favorite, "Do NOT put your trust in earthling man to whom NO salvation belongs". It shuts her up every time! LOL Still, her response becomes an almost hysterical "But I KNOW it's the truth"! At this point I've always backed down knowing this social club is all she has. I love the idea of asking HER to prove it if she pushes me to far.

What is happening in Mexico?
by ILoveTTATT ini have heard that a lot of the english congregations in mexico are shutting down... they are condensing 5 congregations into one, or in some areas even disbanding the only english congregation.
jw's who have been living in mexico for many years and probably were sheltered by being in the english congregations will now have to move to spanish congregations.... .

Data Dog ,you make some good points. If the WTBT$ has no problem disolving congs and selling off their paid for KH's in the US, how much easier would it be to do in other less "important" countries? The Watchtower has become a machine which rolls right over anything or anyone not expressly serving THEIR purpose.

Do the KHs sit on property that has significantly appreciated??? If so there is your answer. Sell the Halls and pocket the tax-free profit . As for the English speaking dubs in Mexico...... tuff luck. Learn Spanish or go home. They couldn't care less either way!

Don't Allow Common "John and Jane Doe" (spiritually dead) to Corporate Broadcast! Keep us Clean!
by AuntConnie inlife's not so great, i've been sulking after it was annouced, the annual meeting of directors is allowing everyone to view the event!
here comes the congregational corpes "john and jane does" to a meeting they should not be allowed to attend!
jehovah's witnesses enjoy their royalty just like americans do.

Wow Connie, a real live COs wife on the board!! Great! You should hook up with Confusedandalone's newest exbethelite employee. You could call it top bitches brunch. Do NOT let any lowly elder's wives attend- they would only cheapen the whole thing.

by jwfacts inhttp://www.smh.com.au/nsw/religious-boy-fights-court-for-right-to-die-20130917-2tx5u.html.
this is tragic.
the boy is 17, and earlier this year the courts ruled that he was to be forced a transfusion.

This is yet another sad story of a youth thinking he is thinking. (for himself) Count me in among those who would have died at 17. Also count me among those whose parents would have kicked me out of the house and shunned me if I had accepted this lifesaving treatment! No pressure there LOL Sadly, I knew a beautiful, caring, downright awesome 17 yr old girl who had the same disease who made the same decision as this boy. She died about 20 yrs ago. Her parents took comfort that their only child died "faithful", that catchall word that means faithful to the WTBT$. I haven't seen or spoken to those parents since. Wonder if they still feel proud or are now sorry for sacrificing her to "Molech".??

You and the Mrs. are the reason the GB is ramping up their hate campaign to include those within the congregations still attending. The Dec 15, 2013 Watchtower calls those like you "deciples of disorder", They HATE that you don't play by all the rules and worse, you are no longer making contributions. You are taking up space and wearing out the carpet without assisting with the work. If you can stomache it, and ONLY IF you don't have children, I say knock yourself out. Just be aware that you may be making things worse for true believers.

Yet More Annual Meeting Speculation. . .
by breakfast of champions inso, yes, there will be a "new bible" released at this annual meeting.
worst kept secret ever.. however, the new bible will no longer be called the "new world translation".
again, this is pure speculation, but it would kind of make sense since the term "new world" is very mason-y, old-time jw-y, and doesn't appear in the bible anyway.. what they would call it, i couldn't even guess..

wt 8/15/03: Easing Nature - Is it for Christians?
by Scully ineasing nature is it for christians?
easing nature the very phrase itself brings to mind the odious product of this activity.
yet, many people have the understanding that this natural bodily function is a practice in which true christians may engage.

Scully, please don't interpret my macaroni and cheese suggestion as critisism. Your Bible based research is impecable. True Christians would do well to heed this Godly council. :)
