Flipper, I have told the exJWs I have spoken to that you are THE REAL DEAL! You and your "worldly" wife have shown hubby and me more kindness and love in a couple of short visits than we EVER experienced in the WTBT&. (almost 6 decades!)Cheers

10 Years out of the JW Organization- What I've Learned ( For what it's Worth)
by flipper in10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.
walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .
some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

I regret my disassociation.
by Zoos inif i knew then what i know now, i might never have disassociated myself.
i realize all i can do is speculate on what could have been.
however, when i consider the number of people i might have been able to help by dropping little thought-provoking seeds, i really regret having jumped to the decision to disassociate so quickly.. ive read the accounts of several people on this forum telling of how stressful it is to be in the position that i just described above.

Jeffro brings up a point I have been grappling with which is :even if you don't formally DA the elders may decide you have done so by your actions. Then they can make the announcement at the Hall that you wouldn't even know about if you are no longer attending. I think if I am facing being offically kicked out I would enjoy writing an embarassing (to them) letter like Confusedandalone did. He took control from them and left them between a rock and a hard place.

Is there an official name for this comedic device?
by Island Man inis there an official name for the comedic device where one replaces one word with another word having a similar pronounciation but a different (usually derisive) meaning?.
for example, some skeptics deride the bible by spelling it "buy-bull".
same or simliar pronounciation but entirely different meaning.

Adamah, while I agree that these puns may not qualify as valid argument, for me, they served an important purpose. As I was learning TTATT these funny words described what I was now noticing. Piosneers made me LOL as well as helped to marginalize their importance in my life. Who cares what an El duh thinks? ASSembly aptly describe the event. These words help new ones distance themselves from the cult and break away from its language.

While i was never a Captain Video's rocket ranger, I was baptised at 12 and later at 16 joined the Columbia record club where i was promised 10 or 12 (I have forgotton) free albums of my choice. 5 albums came that i didn't order along with a large monthly bill. My mother gave me hell, called her attorney who reminded them that there never was a valid contract as i was not the leagal age of consent. of course that was the end of the matter. However, I'm still obligated to the whim of a little girl who had turned twelve a week before baptism in the early 60's before any questions were asked beforehand. Now at nearly 62 I'm still bound????? hahaaaaaahahah.

ohio woman thanks lawyer for saving her life 36 years ago by douglas stanglin, usa todayupdated 2012-03-27 9:29 amflorida attorney joel cohen says the e-mail he recently got from carolynn ivey "raised the hair on my neck.
" the last time she was a part of cohen's life, carolynn ivey weighed less than 2 pounds and desperately needed a lifesaving blood transfusion despite the religious objections of her parents.. cohen, then a young pensacola attorney, was tapped by the escambia county circuit court to become temporary guardian to give legal consent for the transfusions for carolynn and her twin sister, julia, the pensacola news journal reports.

Do you look like the apostate they warned you about?
by Angus Beef inafter waking up and wanting to get out of this nightmare, the word apostate is really bothering me.
if i quitely become inactive, fade away will i just be looked at as "always weak".
i want to scream out how big a fool i was.. and now telling my poor young daughter how wrong i was to bring her up as a jw.

Angus B, You have brought out the downside of fading - the abject FEAR of being caught saying, doing, even thinking something not approved by the WTBT$. It is important to be cautious during a fade while tryng hard not to be paralized by fear. Maybe the worst that could happen if you were found out wouldn't be as bad as what you are going through now. I like your idea of getting out of the house and filling your time whith things you enjoy. I promise things will get better in time.
