making friends is not always easy when you're young.

finding friends may be particularly challenging if you are a christian and want friends who live by bible standards.

this video has therefore been produced to help you learn how to make friends-the right kind of friends!.

You want to hear something extreeemly painful........my wife and i had a gathering......as most dubs we wanted a nice mix young and old....an elder who was there suggested we pop in the video..i hadnt seen it so i said."why not"....there were about 4 other gen x/y kids there..after the video what followed was one of the most painful discussions i had ever been involved in .my friend and i were using all our might not to keep from cracking up as the elder tried to "lead a discussion" with the other kids who were still in high school...you could see the pain on their faces as they hoped this torture would soon end........did you see the car that girl was driving in the video too?..........who said we gave all our money to the WTS??

i'm new to this discussion board, so this may have been covered before.

i was raised in a jw family,(although i have been out for over 20 years) my mom and step-father are staunch believers.

being good jw's, they are against all "pagan" holidays, yet my mom took advantage of the boxing day sales, and my step-father accepted his christmas bonuses.

one of the characteristics of a cult is the manipulation of language. by changing the definition of words the cult can justify any action.
JW's like many cultists are very comfortable doing this themselves, after all how can his employees be offended buy a "year end dance". if thay said anything about the words not changing the nature of the dance thay could be seen as a threat to the WT since the WT does the same thing

i am a current dub and couldnt agree with you more......well..i think i could, not agreeing with your use of the word cult...but anyway...

it makes no sense..it is all about looking for loopholes...I can understand a witness who would not attend a office party due to the overt christmas undertones..santa jumping around ..etc....but of change the name of the party or dance does not change the spirit of it...i have taken it upon myself to go to every damn xmas party i can send presents to me!!!!

the town is about an hour southwest from spokane, wa.

just a word of advice...........i know this isn't a vacation "per say"...but you may want to consider staying in Spokane..it is only one hour away and may have more comfortable accomidations. Ritzville is a wretched little town off of I-90 with only a Denny's (Perkins?) going for it.................but i dont think there is an approved society hotel list for this one....you will be on your own.

personal websites in the JW???

hi everybody - can you spare a minute and tell me about your personal experiences regaring having a personal webpage as a jw?.

i am working on a school project about jw and the internet and in this connection i interviewed a representative of the society.

i asked him about personal websites and he said explicitly that, "there is nothing stopping individual witnesses from setting up that sort, and we dont say nobody is to have a website and all that kind of, you know that is entirely a matter for the individual to determine".. however, i can't really make that fit with the impression i get from surfing personal websites.
