  Were you afraid that the JW's were right?

  many posters have said that initially they had doubts and then cane to the internet to check things out.

  were any of you afraid that maybe you would find that the org was the truth ?.

  How Do You Feel It Should Be Handled?

  let's discuss solutions for a second regarding the pedophile issues.. how do you feel the society should handle things?.

  should the society be entitled to 'ecclesiatic privilege' as are other religions?.

  should such a loophole be allowed when it involves protecting children?.

  one thing some have forgotten.......the society appoints via the outlines in the Scritures.....one requirement is to be "beyond reproach"........and even in some cases the there have been df's simply becuase of notoriety in the community....i seem to remember a drunk driving case...could this person ever be known as a "normal person"..I am pretty sure that the Society as said that someone convicted of certain crimes could never hold positions of responsibility.

  They announce my DF'n (apostasy) about 2wks ago.
  I sat in the 2nd row from the front. The elder who announced it sat directly in back of me.
  He was very mad at me and it showed in the way he announced my DF'n.

  the wt granted an appeal?....are you saying this went past the c.o. and up to bethel?...kewl

  what were the circumstances concering your 'apsotacy'

  the town is about an hour southwest from spokane, wa.

  i will be there on august 14th, which will be on a tuesday.

  Think before you run your mouth. The reason dubs hate us so much is because, as in this case, they don't know what they are talking about. They like to be a know it all when they don't know anything. They are hypocrites and liars and we point it out to them. I don't know "Erica." I do believe the story is based on facts at least, as I know this bird was convicted and is appealing, on the dates that SL said. I checked that out with the public records.

  Hell yeah..why not...regardless if you think they are a cult or not..they are a relgion..and should be given the same legal privelges as any other org...Even thought this whole ecclesiasti privlege thing is a total menace to society

  How should the Society respond locally with a convicted pedophile. Should they ever be allowed back in the congregation? If yes to what level?
  aaah the million dollar question.....this is obviously a mental disease...is it curable ..I doubt it...however many on this board complain of the whole idea of df'ing and what it entails...like it or not there are some people that are falsely convicted too and of course, you have the forgiveness of God, something that we can never understand...........so yes only if they have proven themselves cured, repentant....however due to the nature of the crime restrictions would obvioulsy applied.........Like the man who molested Erica..he can never be with children in a car group, in a room alone......etc.
  How should local elders handle reports of alleged molestation? One child makes an accusation, what should they do? At what point should they notify authorities? At what point do they notify the congregation?
  have the child report it to the authorities.....immediately restrict the privileges the brother may have..and leave it at that..they shouldnt however punish until the courts decide.......
