The Watchtower is NOT a false prophet
by The Quiet One inregarding what some have said here about the wt being a false prophet.. i would like to make my point regarding the wt not being a false prophet... so please, if you can be patient enough to read this, at least try to understand what i am getting at.. a false prophet is one who, according to deuteronomy, makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from god, or in other words claiming that 'god has said he will do a certain thing at a certain time' etc.. for example, hypothetically speaking, if someone had claimed: "god will bring about the end of the world in 2010", they would have been proven to be a false prophet, obviously.
but, as an example, imagine a man who claimed the position of a prophet of god, (as moses did, because although he was not the type of prophet that predicted the future.. he was still a prophet or spokesman for god) and that he had publicised worldwide, according to his interpretation of a (for example) prophecy found in the book of isaiah, that the world would end in 2010.. and he had also stated that he was not saying that god will end the world in that year.. but only that there was biblical evidence that god might do so.
that would clearly have been a mistake.

It's a play with words here and I find that disturbing. CT Russell said (or was it Rutherford? I can't remember. But if pushed, I will find the quote for you) that the studies in the scripture series was 'practically the bible itself'
I view that and the watchtower July 1st 1943 when it said Jehovah tells the faithful slave how to organise pioneers and special pioneers 'He says' that they are saying they speak for God. Gods visible mouthpiece - cant get clearer than that.
That visible mouthpiece has clearly stated things as fact, FACT, certain things that has not been true. For instance, Awake! 1969 May 22 p15 'if you are a young person, you also need to face the FACT that you will never grow old in this system of things' clearly the visible mouthpiece got that wrong, among countless other things.

Watchtower July 1st 1943 page 204-206 says of Jehovah, 'He says...special pioneers will do 175 hours a month in the field' it repeats the 'He says' a few times.
He either says the things in the watchtower or he doesn't, which is it? It's either God speaking or it isn't, which is it? It's either Gods words or it isn't, which? If it isn't, saying God speaks to them and tells them monthly hourly requirements for special/regular/companies of Jehovah's witnesses is disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful.

My review of 2011 - the mad, the obscure, the outrageous, the terrible...
by cedars in2011 is a special landmark year in my life, because it is the year when i finally said "enough is enough" and awakened from my increasingly passive role within the jw faith.
coincidentally, this was also the year in which the governing body "ramped up" its rhetoric to ever more dizzying heights of arrogance, hatred, and absurdity.
whether 2011 subsequently goes down in the history of the watch tower society as being a true turning point in its downfall remains to be seen.

Cedars - when you see it written down like this it almost leaves me speechless...almost! I'll need to take note of all these quotes.
Thanks for these.

So "The Quiet One" now has a problem with my domestic abuse article...
by cedars insorry about this, i generally don't like confrontation of any kind, but a situation has arisen on another thread, and i thought i would give the quiet one the opportunity to explain her reasons as to why she dislikes my article on domestic abuse without hijacking someone else's thread in the process.. the sad thing is, i had an entire thread devoted to publicizing this article and receiving feedback, but he/she chose not to say anything on that thread, but have a go at me on an entirely unrelated thread.. anyway, i'm copying and pasting the whole conversation so that both sides of the argument can be seen.. a copy of the offending article can be found here: "'won without a word' - at what cost?".
i'm not necessarily asking anyone else to join in the discussion, although you are welcome to do so if you wish to add anything.
the purpose of this thread is to give "the quiet one" the platform that he/she evidently craves to criticize the article in public (i have offered to discuss this over pms, but that offer hasn't been taken).. so anyway, sorry about this folks... (sigh).

WT July 1st 1943 page 204-206 makes it crystal clear that the WTBS speaks for God and his words, not an interpretation but He, God, speaks through the Watchtower.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I read it.
Sorry, wrong thread!

Ding dong with 4 JWs this morning
by Qcmbr inthe jws were out in our area this morning and i bolted downstairs before my wife could waive them away as she normally does.. two ladies (mum and 24 year old daughter i later found out) initially stopped as i opened with a comment about how i couldn't trust a thing they say because they are taught to practice theocratic warfare.. the mother blinked and asked me what that was ( so it began ) i informed them both that they are allowed to lie or at least be evasive with the truth with worldy people.
she countered that they are taught not to lie so i again asked her if she knew what theocratic warfare meant and she again said no (first of my many - 'please go look that up' statements .).
i then moved onto the idea that they couldn't think independently outside the organisation due to fear of being disfellowshipped and shunned.

Tornapart - time for some kind of strategy. If it's slowly killing you there will come a point where it'll explode. And that can look, to other JWs, that you've lost the plot.
This is a great place for advice, I've had a fair bit myself. Your family come first, the sad fact is they are being deceived. If I were you I'd be looking for some advice from some of the more experienced ones here. Doing 'your bit' in the field service will only last so long until you just can't do it anymore. God forbid you actually get someone interested when you are out in the service.
I know to some extent how you feel. Get help, please.

Disgusting talk about disfellowshipped children...
by Morbidzbaby inhttp://www.archive.org/details/spirituallydeadchildren.
you have to be fucking kidding me... this is mind control at it's best.
encouraging parents to ignore their kids who have left the jw's and blaming the kids themselves for the rift that's caused.

I wasn't talking about lurkers, I was talking about JWs looking for help to leave. Anyway, I see your point, point taken.
