The pieces are in place to try to help individuals deal with the reality, they had the wool pulled over their heads. Rick, with so many good topics at your hand, there is not need to over-emphasize or hype anything. People are not attending meetings like they use to, the breakdown started with the fall of the book study arrangement. The evolution of the Congregation into a colder, aloof, and disfunctional family is unstoppable. Why not focus on subjects close to the hearts of the JWs who are stuck, in a place of fear? The elderly with no retirement pensions, no healthcare, the unintentional consequences of listening to men, who were not speaking on Jehovah's behalf. Telling children there is no need to get a good education, when jobs are scarce and low paying. I can keep on listing them, these are things on the JWs mind, they are afraid of what is going on. The numbers will show this, if they are not fluffed, we might get some new light on getting the "Youth, you need a real job, one that can support you above the poverty line.".

The CO who is covering the Central Valley, mentioned how easy this concept is to understand. In his talk, he said many of the friends had made a "big deal, over little." . He used the "Titanic analogy, used the Space Shuttle analogy." I still don't know what he is talking about, I still don't know who made this new light, so confusing? Was this the famous Gaff from the Annual Meeting five years ago, by one of the senile men of fame? What is the history and how many times has this little gem changed, moved over, for new light?

The Mormon system of belief must be helping, if you have stopped drinking, lost weight, they must be doing something right. With the newness of being a Mormon newbie coming to an end, are you not receiving the accolades and attention the new recruits are use to? You said, you are at a turning point, is the desire to drink coming back? For "leavingWt", I don't think a book written by anyone, is going to help someone who is use to self medicating with alchoholic beverages or chasing the religion de jour. She or He who does not take their medications (I know they make you feel dead, rob you of creative energy, or add weight gain with perpetual feelings of fatigue.) will not behave in a rational manner, but what is rational? Have you tried Cognitive Therapy, if so, did it help you at all? Those who use alchohol to deal with bi-polar and hypo-mania, schizophrenia end up very badly.
Karl Marx wrote:
Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. "
The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo."

WTwiz, it's hard to know who to trust, I have listened to Alex Jones and he is not afraid to speak his mind. He was lambasting his governer about a month ago, after waffling on his T.S.A. stance. I wonder how many "Plain Truth." magazines as a percentage went unread? It can't be as much as the Watchtower and Awake, I know (from talking to many dubs.) most don't read their magazines from cover to cover. When asked "Where did you learn that from?" my reply "In the Watchtower!" and they would reply "I wish I had more time, I could keep up with the Chariot." I asked "Do you still watch TV?" reply "Oh yes, I need my time to unwind, relax." this was Elder X, who did not have time to study what he belived, but was willing to hand these mags out in Field Service. I belive that is a hipocrite, what do you think?
good night all! peace and love and joy to all!

Gathering summaries for class action lawsuit..... Six Screens Conference call
by koolaid-man informer jehovah's witness mark palo featured on free minds, who claims when he was a young boy was raped at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses by a governing body member named leo greenlees and says his life has been adversely affected by the watchtower org.. he has lost most of his family, over indulged with alcohol and has faced unrelentless problems both physically and emotionally.. marks therapist is willing to speak up in a court of law and expose the evils of the watchtower society.. mark will be our guest in the 7 pm to 9 pm hours.. .
the first amendment (freedom of religion) has always been on the watchtowers side in stopping class action lawsuits against them but a stunning new twist has emerged that may open up the flood gates for scores of new lawsuits.. if your life has been turned upside down by the watchtower organization and would like to participate in and perhaps be compensated for the life altering damage caused to you then dial into the six screens of the watchtower conference call sat.

Rick, you had Greg Stafford back in Febuary of this year, when do you plan on having him back? Are there others out there, with his perspective and bible and language skills, you can get on the show? Listen to the show with Greg, you had in Febuary, you will catch two or three phone lines merging with Greg's which created chaos. Did you figure out what the issue was? What is your time limit per caller, and most guest are good for two hours talking time with no breaks in between. Listen to major radio stations, email their producers, most are not afraid to give you input.

For Mankkeli and other apologists
by JeffT ini thought i'd throw this out here again after reading the post quoting the wt article about returning to god.
the problem with all such articles is, the governing body/watchtower/jw's are not god.
leaving a human organization is not leaving god, nor is going back to it returning to god.

Thank you for putting this information up, so those of us searching, can get more light. The true scriptural application in Acts about the Paul and Barnabas, was, incredible and I have never thought of this, in the way it was put. I am sitting back, just pondering this information, just shocked at my stupidity for not using more critical thinking as a youth. If two ancient men, whose names were Paul and Barnabas, showed up to the GB with news about God that was different from their viewpoit, they would be disfellowshiped for Apostasy!

"Extreme physical abuse" only grounds for separation, NOT divorce.
by cedars inforgive me if i'm a bit slow with the title to this thread.
the true absurdity of the cult that robbed me of my intellect for so long is still beginning to dawn on me.. i'm doing more research into domestic violence as part of a response to the notorious "wife beating" article in the feb 2012 watchtower.. i was shocked to find a question from readers in the w75 5/1 p286-288 which basically said that a battered wife would not be scripturally free to divorce her husband.
my first reaction was that this stance must have changed since 1975, but then i dipped into my own memory from serving as an elder, and of course, adultery (including porneia) is given as the only scriptural grounds for divorce down to this day.. please can somebody correct me if i'm wrong, preferably with a reference?

The Sheep are told the elders need to investigate allegations a husband, is beating their mate to a pulp. The elders have problems trying to figure out, who is going to be taking the visiting speak out to lunch! With this in mind, how can they help a physically or emotionally (Subjective to them.) abused christian? The answer is than can't, my aunt was getting the hell beat out of her, and the elders were impotent! He finally left her (He being top dog.) in ruins, mentally screwed up his kids, and the elders were the last to act. There is one brother who comes to mind, he cheated with many women and beat his wife. He lied and said his wife was "making these false charges against his good name." he gave great talks at Circuit Assemblies, who would think such a great man was capable of evil? Not the BOE, they were the last to know, she finally divorced him, and he finally got caught with a young maiden. The Moral of the story, is, I don't really know what the elders are there for? What is their job, in the month I have been here, I have come to realize they really are ineffective and impotent with the sheep, but good at trying to keep the little rules in place.
Ezekiel 34:
The Shepherds of Israel
1 Then this message came to me from the L ord : 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds, the leaders of Israel. Give them this message from the Sovereign L ord : What sorrow awaits you shepherds who feed yourselves instead of your flocks. Shouldn’t shepherds feed their sheep? 3 You drink the milk, wear the wool, and butcher the best animals, but you let your flocks starve. 4 You have not taken care of the weak. You have not tended the sick or bound up the injured. You have not gone looking for those who have wandered away and are lost. Instead, you have ruled them with harshness and cruelty. 5 So my sheep have been scattered without a shepherd, and they are easy prey for any wild animal. 6 They have wandered through all the mountains and all the hills, across the face of the earth, yet no one has gone to search for them.
7 “Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the L ord : 8 As surely as I live, says the Sovereign L ord , you abandoned my flock and left them to be attacked by every wild animal. And though you were my shepherds, you didn’t search for my sheep when they were lost. You took care of yourselves and left the sheep to starve. 9 Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the L ord . 10 This is what the Sovereign L ord says: I now consider these shepherds my enemies, and I will hold them responsible for what has happened to my flock. I will take away their right to feed the flock, and I will stop them from feeding themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths; the sheep will no longer be their prey.
The Good Shepherd
11 “For this is what the Sovereign L ord says: I myself will search and find my sheep. 12 I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day. 13 I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live. 14 Yes, I will give them good pastureland on the high hills of Israel. There they will lie down in pleasant places and feed in the lush pastures of the hills. 15 I myself will tend my sheep and give them a place to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign L ord . 16 I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes—feed them justice!
17 “And as for you, my flock, this is what the Sovereign L ord says to his people: I will judge between one animal of the flock and another, separating the sheep from the goats. 18 Isn’t it enough for you to keep the best of the pastures for yourselves? Must you also trample down the rest? Isn’t it enough for you to drink clear water for yourselves? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet? 19 Why must my flock eat what you have trampled down and drink water you have fouled?
20 “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign L ord says: I will surely judge between the fat sheep and the scrawny sheep. 21 For you fat sheep pushed and butted and crowded my sick and hungry flock until you scattered them to distant lands. 22 So I will rescue my flock, and they will no longer be abused. I will judge between one animal of the flock and another. 23 And I will set over them one shepherd, my servant David. He will feed them and be a shepherd to them. 24 And I, the L ord , will be their God, and my servant David will be a prince among my people. I, the L ord , have spoken!
The L ord ’s Covenant of Peace
25 “I will make a covenant of peace with my people and drive away the dangerous animals from the land. Then they will be able to camp safely in the wildest places and sleep in the woods without fear. 26 I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing. 27 The orchards and fields of my people will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety. When I have broken their chains of slavery and rescued them from those who enslaved them, then they will know that I am the L ord . 28 They will no longer be prey for other nations, and wild animals will no longer devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will frighten them.
29 “And I will make their land famous for its crops, so my people will never again suffer from famines or the insults of foreign nations. 30 In this way, they will know that I, the L ord their God, am with them. And they will know that they, the people of Israel, are my people, says the Sovereign L ord . 31 You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign L ord , have spoken!”

What's The Biggest Difference In Today's JWs And The Witnesses From Decades Ago?
by minimus ini believe today's witnesses lack zeal, resolve, "love" of the "truth"......just to name a few things.. years ago, witnesses were excited to knock on doors and tell people they were gonna die if they didn't accept paradise.. now, when you see jws in service, they all look zombied out.. it's a slowly dying religion that will last probably forever like an ancient rotted out tree..

Modern Field Service is a mockery of the witnessing work done by the JWs from 1930-1989. Special tipped boots made to prevent doors from being closed, big cars to drive the spiritual army in service. Spending time driving to the territory versus driving all around the territory and calling it a day. A "Call." was used when the territory was exhausted, now it' used to exhaust the 10 hour minimum to keep elder, MS or "Good Publisher." status. Book bags were worn down from heavy usage, now, book bags are only opened to replace last months magazines with this months.
Positives are we don't suffer from the twenty or thirty minute prayer lead by the District overseer or Bethel brothers. Remember those long prayers that would not end, standing up for sooo long?
